I am curious as to where everyone has mounted LED light bars on their 2nd gens. I don't have an after market bumper or anything like that (yet) so I am looking to see what y'all have done. I don't need a big bar on the roof because
    1. I don't need the amount of light a bigger bar puts out. Just need some for when we are in the back woods hunting hogs
    2. In my opinion, they look like a tiara on a princess
I found a set of brackets that would allow me to mount behind the lower front bumper. Anyone else done this? thanks in advance!

Did you fab your own mounts? Or did you buy them?

I just used to angle iron with pre-drilled holed. Painted them black, and screwed them to the crash bar. Had to take off bumper to do it.
I mounted the lights to the brackets and slid them into position with the bumper on. Then I traced the edges with a white sharpie so I would know where to mount them when the bumper came off.

Ok cool I like that option. A lot more secure I would imagine. Thanks!

what kind of brackets did you find?

also if you could post the type of light's you're using that'd be helpful too.

Had really hoped to be able to get a bigger light bar in somewhere stealthy, like I had on my Tacoma, but wasn't able to do much other than what I did.

Thanks, they look good tucked away, not many options as you mentioned.

About how much time did install take? Removal / reinstall of bumper and stuff?

It was a while ago so I can't be too certain of the time. Probably a few hours all in, with the removal of the bumper and the wiring. As so many mods, it would be way faster the second time..... Didn't want to break any clips or drop/scratch my bumper.

Dammit! Here I was going to mount a 30" bar in that location after cutting out the plastic to fit.......and now I want to do this. Thanks for the idea! Think I'm gonna go with some Auxbeam Aux-Trend amber backlit bars and tie them into the running lights/turn signals and then a normal bar in the center.

Sweet! Post some pics! I thought about cutting for a bigger bar too, but thought it would look like crap where it curved back down to the openings.

Still totally miss my 30" light bar on my Tacoma. Nighttime was daytime!

If you like bright lights, check out my rear bumper ones!

I have these Rago Fabrication mounts on my A pillars, really like them especially with the Baja Designs squadrons. They also make a mount that fits a 30” light bar behind the bumper. Veteran owned company out of Kerrville, Tx

Did you mount them to the grill/hood or are they mounted to supports behind the grill? Some pictures of how you got them mounted up would be much appreciated.

Bump...anybody got any more pics of their 2nd gens with hidden led light bar? I want a 45”(ish) behind the slits above my license plate or was considering one mounted in the upper grille in front of radiator. Ain’t shit for pics on the web of anything but 24” above the license plate.

Barely any pictures everyone jumped on the 3gen wagon. And no options to put lights behind the oem grill.

I have a 30" single row on mine. I don't think a 45 will fit. You will have a fitment issue with getting one behind the grill. You would have to do some notching of the radiator support and experiment with mounting brackets as well as grill closing clearances.

I don’t understand why everybody that has done one, just goes with a 24” above the license plate? There’s another foot on each side that’s completely useable, why stop at 24”, why not go 45”....? I don’t get it...

Gotcha, I was thinking 45” for the slit in the plastic above the license plate. Seems doable, just wonder why no pics of anybody else doing it...also wonder if the valence would still have integrity if I cut the cross pieces out to make the light bar more flush with the valence instead of back in there tucked away...
