I really dig that Coastal Offroad bumper. Has anyone installed one yet? I'm curious which 30" LED light bar has been used for it.

I've got 2 problems with that bumper.

    1. It could have been MUCH better if they ditched the top plastic bumper cover and raised the whole bumper up to the grill.

    2. How the hell are you supposed to access your winch free spool lever?

Looks like the hole to the right facing the bumper, you could put your hand in there to pull the freespool level. I agree with the first problem though. I preferred another bumper from Addicted, but they no longer make it. This one is nice and subtle though, and since I have a black truck, you won't notice the plastic bumper above as much.

Maybe I'm just too used to wheeling my Jeep. If you find yourself up against a boulder or nose down in a ditch, you won't have access to that little hole, and that would be a problem. Besides that, I'm not entirely sure my hands would fit in that hole in the first place.

I need a bumper with open top access to the winch. Which means I'm probably going to have to build it myself.

I would prefer top access myself, which I have on my 80 series Land Cruiser, but this won’t be a trail rig, so hopefully I won’t find myself in that situation.

How hard do you think it would be for me to find a used Demello bumper in SoCal?

Just a thought; I built my bumper where top of winch is accessible by simply popping the hood.

Great bumpers, I just don't like that you have to keep that strip of the old bumper. Just looks wrong to me. ‍

I'm not seeing any with a front tow hitch (looking to mount a light dual sport there because a swingout rear is expensive and would be hard to access my camper.) Anyone know of one with a front tow hitch? My old taco had one on a tube bumper

This is one of the main reasons I built my own. My front receiver holds my support bar for long material.

Yeah i ended up doing the same. As much as i really want to build a front bumper to my own specs, i just don't have the time with the way my job works. So i bit the bullet and ordered the expedition one bumper with the full bull bar. It was the closest to what i wanted and happened to go on sale for independence day. Still crazy expensive though.

Can we see a sid pic of it? Looks great!
Aside form the popular opinions I think it looks good with the extra plastic. I think they look goofy when they get winging up to follow the grill.

I think the 2nd gens look great with either bumper style, leaving the plastic is the much easier way out. I'll be coming out with that one soon, I've done one long time ago on my first tundra.

I'm very happy with the Demello winch plate. Super solid and tucks everything in nicely. Been running it for 2 years and luckily have only needed to use it once, the first weekend I put it on.

For anyone looking at SS Built bumpers, my initial impressions are awesome! I emailed them about checking out a bumper in person, Steve was super responsive and said to come on by. Took about 30 min out of his day to show me how they build and brace them before we went off on long travel and AK tangents. Plus he's got some very cool projects in the shop to drool over, 2 Tundra's in for beams to compliment their LT fronts. Small 2 man shop, but their attention to detail and how the shop was clean and setup gives me a good feeling.
