I know I'm not alone in saying this, but I really do not like the second gen gauge cluster setup. I've seen that it's possible to install the 2014 cluster and I really love it. What I don't love is that there is no trim to make it fit, has anyone come up with anything, my thought is that maybe the 2018 sequoia gauge trim would fit? Has anyone tried this? Any suggestions on trim to make the 2014 cluster fit in an 07?

Get a cluster from a limited/platinum trim. Much better than the orange cluster. There was one on ebay for $120 last week.

The optitron cluster is great, but I think the one I got is programmed for the bigger fuel tank.

Are the sequoia optitrons p&p into a SR5 tundra also? Will any gauges be lost?

Sequoia and Tundra gauges are not compatible. They receive signals differently and pin outs aren’t the same.

Did you recently do a gauge swap,or do you have the regular ones?

If everything worked before the swap then you may be have a gauge issue

I did the swap a few months ago, so it's not impossible that the sender is on its way out. I see the "1/4 tank is E" complaint is generally resolved with a fresh sender.

On the other hand, I notice that with a completely full tank of gas, the truck thinks I can go 450+ miles on the tank, which it didn't before the swap.

Yeah mine acts weird too. It works, but it will stay on full or near full for almost half a tank and then the needle starts dropping quickly after that. The original cluster's fuel gauge worked fine. I dont have the range function so i cant comment on that, but i always just reset the trip odometer when i refuel.

I thought the ebay posting for the one I have said it was from a sequoia. Is there a way to tell without taking the dash apart?

I went to the Optitron website. I would love to order one but they posted a notice that it does not work with flex fuel vehicles. Says they have a different sending unit.
Do you have a flex fuel engine?

You are right. I went to this website.
    https://www.taninautoelectronix.com...a-tundra-limited-optitron-instrument-cluster/

This item is one Toyota Tundra Optitron gauge cluster for 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013 Limited models. Although this instrument cluster is removed from a Limited model and has a transmission temperature gauge, it can be installed in any 2007-2013 Toyota Tundra regardless of the instrument cluster originally installed. Some of the “new” gauges may not work when installed in the base model, but this cluster will give an upgraded look from the orange lighting and it will also have a message center.

Common issues that can be solved with a replacement Toyota Tundra Optitron instrument cluster include:

    • Total power loss
    • Gauges not working or moving correctly
****NOTE**** This cluster will not work with FLEX FUEL trucks. The fuel tank uses a different sending unit.

We also offer a replacement instrument cluster for customers that wish to stick with the original look!

I am hoping that someone has put it on a Flex Fuel and all the other gauges work. I can work around the fuel gauge if all the other gauges are working.

So I bit the bullet and bought an Optitron cluster off eBay...I validated several things before the purchase so I've got my fingers crossed that what I *think* I know is actually correct:

Here are the specifics for reference:

    1. Cluster is from a 2011 Limited, same year as my Rock Warrior (FFV) - all features are the same aside from the FFV/non engine and cab size (4WD, tow package)
    2. I paid $105 shipped from beautiful Alabama
    3. The cluster is slightly higher in mileage than my truck, so I may just wait until I hit the actual mileage on the cluster to do the swap (about $4-5k miles yet)

Based on my research, I believe the following to be true:

    1. I couldn't find any clusters on eBay that were out of FFV trucks, but they ARE out there
    2. I found two 2011s online for sale, one regular and one FFV, and base don what I pulled from toyodiy.com by plugging in the VIN, both shared the same part number for the cluster
    3. The cluster I have coming is from a truck with a 26g fuel tank, according to the part number I pulled on toyodiy.com and looking it up at parts.toyota.com - I believe this may be the "1/4 tank off" result people are getting (not related to FFV)

So, apologies in advance for the likely delay in confirming the above, but I do think this swap should work and be simply PnP.

    At a high level -

FFV/non-FFV Limited models (at least of 2011 models) share the SAME Optitron instrument cluster
Different Limited models (might vary by year?) have different sized gas tanks

More to come...hopefully sooner rather than later! Hoping this helps someone track down and use an upgraded cluster! There are several on eBay currently in the $105-125 range, and a few much higher.
