Oh I gotcha. The 325/65r18 is like a 34.8 by 13. Might be close - depends on your offset.

Ridge Grap is not but they work well in the snow. Not quite Duratrac good, but certainly well enough for me down in Reno. I go up in the Sierras regularly in the winter as well, havent had a problem yet

If you're moving to Tahoe and need a CMC come see us. ;)
On another note, I highly recommend the Falken AT3W's, one of the best severe snow rated AT's I've ran. Had them on my wifes 4runner (we just sold the rig). Theres a 305/65/18 AT3W, might be a good fit

No need to change then, unless they're worn out! LOL. Does he not like them?

Lol. Don’t know. I think he’s looking for something just a little taller. 305/65r18 on a 18x9 is pretty squatty at 33”

I’ve heard amazing things about the falkens . Thinking about replacing my KO2’s with them when the time comes.

Gotcha, I'd bump to the 325's then and do the CMC if needed. We've got a good alignment shop that I can recommend here to push the caster to max clearance from the cab mount too. Might be enough

yeah I was just wanting something a smudge taller.. but I may just keep them. I have already used them up there and they were fantastic! and being sever snow, I didn't have to install chains! everyone else was on the side of the road installing chains!

Just got an alignment today with the Camburg UCA's and was able to get my camber/toe in the green with 7* Caster. It pulls slightly to the right though, so gotta re-check everything. Or do you have any idea what it may be? Im running toytec radflos @ about 3" hight.

Gotcha, I have the 295/70/18 Ridge grap on my Duramax if you want to see a size comparison, but ran the 35/12.50/18 ridge grap on my Tundra(with no CMC, but not much offroad use. rubbed occasionally).

wow, 7 degrees caster? Thats really high, not necessarily bad though, just usually see between 5-6 deg.
Pulling would be camber/toe issues. post up the spec sheet if you have it.

Should I dial back some caster? Here’s my sheet.

Have you seen anything with the Camburg UCA’s that cause my truck pulling to the right even with good alignment numbers? It’s really baffling.

What about the 285/75R18 on 18 inch Ray 10s for him or is that too big (34.8 diameter X11.2 wide)

That’s smaller. Too small for a 9”wheel too.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but I believe that I usually expect to see a slightly negative(toe-in) number on toe rather than positive(toe out) like you have now. That coupled with the fairly wide/square profile tire may be the reason for the pulling. The caster and camber look real good.

Hmmm. Site states rim size is 7.5-9.5. Again. That's the website stating those numbers. So I defer to your guys real knowledge.

I wouldn’t mind that size. I’d prefer 305/70/18 though. I’m just gonna get a CMC on my next set of tires.

Copy. Extra girth is always better. I just didn't know of the narrower 285/75 would make it easier to avoid the CMC but still provide an almost 35" tire. I also ordered the Rays as well so I'm learning a ton in this discussion as well. Thank you.

Ah I was thinking 285/70. Only drawback I can think of is you would get less tire bulge on this tire and easier to damage wheels. But hmmm might have to consider.

I think I am going to go with Wildpeaks when I get my Ray's. 275/70R18 is really interesting @ under $600 for a set. Not sure that they would be a good choice width-wise on my wheels tho.

Edit - Probably going with 305/65R18..

Man, lots of tire discussion lately...must be the impending winter weather. I have 35x12.5r18 Thunderer TracGrips that came new on my truck. They aren't too expensive and look mean, but I don't really do any offroading and am nervous they won't do well with snow and ice, as they're a deep tread mud tire. I've been looking around for my next set and like the Falkens as well. The 35x12.5s obviously work fine in my truck, but do rub the fender lining slightly on full turn, so I'm looking to decrease ever-so-slightly in size possibly. I like the look of the Wildpeaks in 305/65/18

I really like my Maxxs. Been able to use them in all conditions now. Definitely worthy of the M+S rating. Great off road. My STT Pros are a great off road tire. Not as good on snow as the Maxxs which should be expected. I've owned DuraTracs. A great AT tire for the money but not near as good as my Cooper Maxx and Pros. DuraTracs are definitely not more aggressive than the Maxx AT hybrid. Cooper tires should be on anyone's list. I've been livin that dream for some time now. Go to Anchorage and see what brand most locals are using. Hint........Cooper....

@BlueBottle did you make a decision on what you are going to do? I was just checking the California DOT chain control requirements and it doesn't look like they care about the severe snow rating. They go from requiring M+S rating at R2 to chains for everybody at R3. Now I'm wondering what the point of the severe snow rating is for tires, maybe there are other states that care about it.

Oh I didn’t know that. I thought they checked for the severe snow rating... if that’s the case that opens everything up!!! Can you confirm if that’s true?

I was right there with you thinking we needed the severe snow rating. I'll probably still go with the 35" KO2, but I have been day dreaming about the General Tire Grabber X3.

Some good reading for M+S vs snowflake rated

Lake Tahoe Winter Driving Tips: Chain Requirements
    By Tahoe Staff
    [IMG]
Snow chains are a smart investment. You do not want to be caught on the side of the road during a big snow storm without them. Even with a four-wheel-drive, it’s nice to have tire chains for those extra icy conditions. Be aware that chain requirements change as snow conditions change.

    Lake Tahoe Chain Requirements

    • Requirement Level 1: Chains, traction devices or snow tires are required on the drive axle of all vehicles except four-wheel/ all-wheel-drive vehicles.
    • Requirement Level 2: Chains or traction devices are required on all vehicles except four-wheel/all-wheel-drive vehicles with snow-tread tires on all four wheels.
(NOTE: Four-wheel/all-wheel-drive vehicles must carry traction devices in chain control areas.)
    • Requirement Level 3: Chains or traction devices are required on all vehicles, no exceptions.

After reading all that it seems snowflake symbol is better in winter conditions over m+s

And could be a requirement some places.
