This is for those that don’t have the deep pockets for the wireless charger from Toyota. The Toyota charger definitely looks better than this, but I am pleased with how this turned out.

I know many people have done these, but the ones I’ve seen are usually mounted underneath and have to charge through all that extra plastic.

I tested many different chargers to choose the best one based on size, charging power, and how much a phone could move around in the space while continuing to charge.
This was the best in all categories.
It’s an almost perfect fit, requiring only minimal trimming. It charges up to 10w. It continues charging no matter where my phone is on the tray...though it’s a rubber grip surface, so sliding is minimal.

Ignore all the holes in my console. Lol. I have a very active puppy. Now that he’s better trained, my next project is a leather console cover.

I actually like that better then wireless charger I installed.

Does it actually grip the phone?

You should provide a link, I’m sure people will ask.

It doesn’t “grip” like those sticky pads that came out a few years ago and stayed dirty forever, but it doesn’t allow the phone to slide around like it would on plastic.
I have an Apple charging case on my phone that is also rubber, so there’s almost no movement unless I’m off road.

If I didn’t literally just put a wireless charger in mine last weekend I would buy this.

I like the rubber mat idea.

right now, the usb end is just plugged into the power port in the console...which is wired to the battery instead of the ignition. It got dark before I could hardwire it and hide the wiring.

I’ll get photos tomorrow that show where it comes out on the underside of the console, and where I routed it inside.

Here’s where I ran the cable. I just bundled it in the loom with the cable for my subwoofer remote.
Inside the back of the console, I wired a high speed usb terminal to the battery and plugged it in, then wrapped it in electrical tape.

I know I’m responding to an old post but would you happen to have the armrest tray insert still? Not sure if you did the mod where you removed the entire tray or not

    Thanks in advice

Update: 8 months and still working great! Charges quickly and consistently.
I just wish there was room for two for when both of us are in the truck. Lol
