Other than trim, colors, and accessories, what else is included with ordering a truck?

"This preference request does not guarantee you will receive the vehicle with the exact options requested, and may create an extended wait-time."

You are asking and hoping, and as long as someone will wait forever, sure they might get it. But you are not getting a custom made truck just for Timmy. You still take whatever they give you.

I used to be of this mindset, but trucks are going to continue to change and evolve.
I wouldn't not get the new one because its different.

Evetime a new model comes out people always say what you said.

This truck won't be the last Tundra ever made....relax there going to make new trucks just replace it if it sucks

and for those who feel that much resentment towards the new truck ya'll should grab another 2.5 gen up and hide it somewhere so ya'll dont ever have to upgrade

    Your right, trucks will change.
Everything changes and that is healthy and normal.
Like some sharks, if we stop moving forward, we eventually die.

I welcome different, when it makes sense, and has added value.

Having spent many years in the auto industry, I just have a different perspective on this situation.
I am infinitely disappointed with what many of us see as a major turn in the wrong direction with this truck.
My experience tells me everything about this truck is wrong, and Toyota is going off the rails that made them the great company they are.
For many of us, this is the end of a golden era and the start of something darker.

I hope this truck is everything you want it be and more, we all deserve nothing less

When I went to the dealer They definitely made it sound like it was a custom build. The salesman told me they(Toyota) accept the order immediately then when they get ready to build they will contact me.Said it would take about 6 months.I even asked if I needed an allocation, because thats how chevy does it with the corvette and was told no.I don't care either way just be honest

    I can respect that
If the gen 2 and 2.5 are reliable then why fix something that isn't broken?
I get it, but at some point you have to keep innovating

My thoughts are I can't hold onto any trucker forever.
This particular body style I took a lot of liking to, so decided to take the step
Sometimes you just say fu** it and pull trigger.......I'm not settling for just any 22 either by selecting the colors and trim
Hopefully it takes longer that expected and I can drive the 5.7 a month longer!

OH NO, not the dreaded "end of a golden era" & darkness! My God, It's only a truck........

Why are you on net commenting about something you have no intent to buy and pissing away the time left in the "golden era" you so love.

Sleeping in a car doesn't count as "many years in the auto industry". If you don't like it, don't buy it and we can throw our money away as we see fit in peace. Try to get out of the "panties in a tow hook bunch" gang and understand that there are different strokes for different folks.

Love my 2022 and it receives many compliments, thank you! P.S. the diamondback cover is awesome.

Well no they don't do that. If it can be done on the online builder though that's what you can request. So you expect to be able to change options that toyota doesn't have available? No you cant add the screen from the highest trim onto an SR5 but you can actually add trd sport and off road packages on trims that allow it. I could screenshot the vehicle change request that we use but I think its against TOS

I’ve heard the same but I have “ordered” three trucks from my dealer exactly how I wanted and nothing else…and gotten what I wanted and nothing else three times. So there has got to be some wiggle room because I’m definitely not that lucky.

Glad you love your truck and others like it also.
As long as your happy with your purchase, nobody else matters, right?

It is a LOT more than a truck for some people.
    It's a passion.
    It's a job.
    It's a work of art.
    It's a labor of love.
It's critical dependable transportation in desolate inhospitable terrain.
A good vehicle like the Tundra was is SO much more, to SO many people.

If those of us that know better and see the writing on the wall don't push back and provide honest feedback, people will continue to purchase and validate this junk, and manufacturers will continue to take advantage of those of you who don't know any better, while making and trying to sell even worse junk moving forward.

Toyota needs to know they messed up, bad.
The best way to do that is to call out their bs, and not reward them by buying this junk.
Personally, I hope this trucks sales fail utterly and they go back to the drawing board.
Even if that takes another 10 years.

Thanks for the personal attack about "sleeping in my truck"
I have yet to sleep in my truck, but thanks nonetheless.
    :argue:

I have worked in every position in the repair garage from the bottom up.
A dozen garages, half a dozen retail stores, several dealerships :anonymous:

I've done all the following work for more than a few years for all regular non-exotic brands:
    Tires.
    Oil, all fluids.
    Alignments.
    Brakes, alternators, and suspension.
    Fuel systems.
    Timing belts, water pumps.
    Axles, driveshafts, differentials.
    Complete engine overhaul/rebuild.
    Windows, glass, tint.
    Bolt on mods.
    Custom stereos.

I was also a successful Service Advisor.
    Service Manager.
    Retail and commercial parts salesman.
    Retail and commercial Parts manager.

    Used car Sales Associate.
    New car Sales Associate.

Really the only things I haven't done are transmissions (repair, overhaul), auto finance, and anything in manufacturing.

I don't wear panties and neither does my wife :D
    But thanks for the concern.
    :duel:

Enjoy your different strokes, we are all entitled to make our own mistakes.
I've made plenty of my own over the years.
Hell at times when I was younger I owned and drove a Chevy S10 pickup, an AMC Concorde, a Chevy Corsica, and 2 Ford Fucus
But we try to learn and not repeat those mistakes.

We are all hear to learn and share our knowledge and love of these vehicles.
Unfortunately this new one is the first real disappointment many of us have seen from this brand.

You enjoy your grey v6 turbo car :boink: and feel free to call any of us 2gen owners when you need a tow, we got ya :p

Take a breath....let it out slowly. It's a truck built in the 21st century, not your Gd leg. Push back against Toyota...what? You think you know more about the business than the suits but you are just kidding yourself. It call progress and they DO care about you driving your gas guzzler through the environment.......they care to shut you out.

I believe you know much about trucks.......so why come here and bash others decision to buy one, why? We know all of this crap already so we don't need it feed to us over and over......

I placed my “order” October 1st through Longo Toyota in CA and still haven’t received a allocation so it’s definitely a waiting game. I don’t honestly see it being done till May or June. I check auto trader but everyone wants 8,000 to 10k markup so I’m just gonna wait it out.

My understanding is the dealership's allocations are most important. Not so much waiting....the dealership has to have an equivalent trim allocation to trade for an order. Then toyota has to accept the order.

Thx for your emotional spiel and unsolicited resume

LOL...I hope for the sake of argument you never, ever get a new truck it might fall apart to pieces when you sit in it.
Since all of the engineers at Toyota have no idea what they are doing....

I just come from a background of experience, that's all.

I don't buy things that fall apart anymore, I try to do thorough research and make informed choices but things don't always work out regardless.

Toyota engineers know what they are doing.
The issue is they are overridden by idiots in suits upstairs that don't know jack shit, and didn't listen to the owner base when we told them clearly for years what we wanted.
The 2022 Tundra is a perfect example of that.

Anyway no more raining on yall's parade.

I hope I am proven wrong on my opinions, but we will see as time goes on.

I hope you all enjoy your new trucks regardless.

I order late January. Build date was 02/15. Delivery date to dealer in VT was 03/11 and pick up is today for me on pi day (03/14). My truck was basically already allocated so it was 6 weeks just about for me. So just about a month from build to receipt.

I'm still trying to figure out why an SR5 with the basic TRD off-road package only is so hard. I'm going on 13 weeks today waiting since Dec 20. Maybe it just doesn't come as a popular option in my area, but I just can't get any details from my dealer. The "only manager that works with orders" has been out for a week now on vacation, so that didn't help (assuming that's the truth)... It's frustrating when you see so many people picking them up and have been waiting longer than most of them

It's really just a matter of semantics. What some here are calling ordering a truck is simply the dealership putting in a preference request with their port to get a specific build. That said, as many have already said, there is no "custom order/custom build" with Toyota. Sure, if you want a trim level with a specific package in a particular color, you can go on a wait list and you'll eventually get one when whatever port your dealership belongs to gets one of that specific build and you're #1 on the list. That's not what I would call a custom build. Again, semantics. What I consider a custom build is not what is described above.

Need an example? I want a 2022 Tundra, SR5, CrewMax 5.5, 4x4 TRD Sport, army green, with all of the available techno-gadgets (BSM, PVM, etc), and the load-leveling airbags. Doesn't exist. There is no Sport package that has all the technology and also the airbags. Can I get it with the techno package and add airbags as on option? Nope.

Well then, maybe I just look at the Limited (as it has a bunch of the technology I want as standard equipment). Can I add airbags to a base Limited? Yes, but it then doesn't have some of the things I want like PVM and tow mirrors. Keep looking. Oh, here's a package you can put on the Limited that has everything I want, including the airbags! Except....... you can't get a Limited with that package in Army Green, only in grey, silver, or red.

So no, you can't custom order a Toyota. If you think you can, your definition of the word custom is different than mine.

Seems to be the case from the 5 dealers within a few hours of me. Platinums and 1794 galore. I just want a limited with a few options since optioning up an sr5 puts you right at the same price but the few limited models have pano and air susp.
