I purchased my 22 Platinum (air ride) in May and it had 22 miles on in. I’ve been chasing this passenger side phantom noise from the first week…I have 10k miles now. 3 times the dealership “could not replicate complaint”. It’s a metallic “crinkling” noise that I now feel like is not related to just hard bumps. I feels like it’s most prevalent when you roll over something and the truck flexes. It sounds like it’s inside the passenger doors or back cab. I immediately suspected the Jack was the issue, but it’s tight and I took the tool kit out and secured it elsewhere. The heat shield around the cat is loose, but this seems to be an inside the cab walls noise.

I have a 22 Tundra Limited with the off road package, no air suspension and I hear a knocking noise from the rear passenger area as well. Dealership blamed it on the truck cover so I took it off but still have the noise. Didn’t start until about 5000 miles in and seems to have progressively got worse. It almost sounds like it’s coming from the b pillar or maybe even the ceiling. I do have the panoramic sunroof, you can hear it the most in the driver seat. Only happens when going over bumps at slow speeds, varies from a rattle to a slow knocking noise when going over speed bumps. Tailgate and truck bed can get some rattling noise but this is definitely in the interior as I hear different noises from the truck bed while driving with the rear window down. Is this similar to the knocking noise people are describing here? I’m about to trade the truck in at this point given all these issues I’ve had.

Still have the same sound. I have the auto side steps. They seem secure but I noticed the other day when it was folding in it made a slightly similar sound. I’m going to spend some time focusing on that over the holiday.

    Does it sound like this?

limited Iforce max no air suspension build mid June.

Dealership gave me the same BS couldn’t replicate the noise even though I gave them a usb with like 20 videos, my guess is the cab mounts but they wouldn’t even check them, I have a deposit on a 2023 limited to trade this one in.

Anyone come up with what the actual source is for this noise? Or a solution?

It’s the upper rear hydraulic cab mount.

Are they faulty or just a bad design? Any known fixes?

I replaced both upper and lower hydraulic mounts on both sides on mine, I can definitely say that the rear driver side noise is gone but the passenger rear side came back after 3 days.

After complaining to the dealership 3 times they said is normal noise for trucks, it is not normal but there’s little to no help from the dealership or corporate opening a case 3 times got me no where since corporate believes more on what the dealership tells them.

Could the non-hydraulic mounts be used as a replacement? If so, what’s the performance difference?

My ‘22 SR5 was very quiet over low speed bumps. ‘23 TRD Pro was initially, but developed a clunk over same bumps. I’ve been thinking it was tailgate, but ruled that out.

I had the same noise on my 20 Tacoma Pro. Drives me nuts. After all was said and done, I found the front pass side bed bolt to frame was letting the bed flex up and down. It's a shoulder bolt that was tight but had slack that caused the noise. I put a shim in and tightened down and have been a happy camper ever since. I found the slack by picking up on the bed corner by hand and could see it move an 1/8 or so.
