22’ TRD PRO mods? Let’s see

Any noticeable change in ride quality with the Wescott kit? Looks real good.

 

It's hard to tell but might be a little bit stiffer but with 37s and 17inch wheels there's alot more sidewall that probably makes up for it.

 

Couldn’t stand it any longer, got the day off and went straight to discount tire and got the tires put on. 305 70 18 Yokohama mts without any lift. No rub on stock suspension but I did take the mud flaps off and trim the felt underliner instead of tacking them with a retainer like wescott did. Lift is going on Thursday but this will keep me at bay until then.

 

Lol. I couldn’t stand it either and did the same thing. Looks like it should have from the factory!

Ok I'm still not 100% on the look of the new tundra but that pro is looking real good. Hmm New pro full long travel, wider fenders 37s and bigger turbos....

 

If I didn’t already have the lift I probably would have just kept it like this haha. I can’t believe it cleared the tires no problem

 

What kind of spring compressors did you use? Im not feeling confident in mine after getting them next to the strut. Mine were good for little Bilstein coilovers on my AMG but not gonna cut it on these, and I’m overdue for a good injury.

 

Lol, I thought the same thing for about 30 minutes after I left the tire shop and then promptly saw about 10 lifted 2.5 gens.

 

Excuse my noob question, fairly new to trucks and just patiently watching this thread as I await the arrival of my truck in "late Sept": once tire size is changed, can you recalibrate the speedometer to read correct speed and mileage?

 

Absolutely amazing. This confirms my need for 37s. I like the fact that BFG KO2s runs a little on the smaller side. Just need to wait till automatic running boards become available. Mission is to install the 37s the same time as the running boards and hope the wife doesn't notice the additional step up lol.

 

I’m kinda confused as to why some people would never put aftermarket wheels on their Pro but will add a block lift to their suspension. Block lifts are the worst lift you can get.

Another point of contention is when people level out the truck and not add stiffer rear springs. As soon as you out a load on the bed or hitch:



Not all aftermarket wheels are bad. Fuels? XDs? Yes. Horrible. LoL

 

My JB4 arrived yesterday. Picking up my Pro from getting PPF and tint tomorrow. Then on to my Anthem wheels and Recon Grapplers (35’s). 3/1 Lift ships this week. can’t wait to unveil her new look!

 

just wondering, do these trd pro versions come with blind spot monitoring? If so does it include a trailer? i cant find an answer on the net? thanks

 

Yes, the indicator is on mirror.
Not certain for trailer. I wouldnt think so. Ive only pulled a small utility trailer with it though and I think that cuts off lane assist and some other things.

 

I agree, but the Westcott option isn’t precisely a “block” lift. Spacers, sure, but they aren’t putting additional unnecessary stress on the strut.

 

Pics do not do it justice! Wescott pro lift is on and I could not be happier with how it turned out. This is by far my favorite truck I have ever had and it’s set up for me to enjoy for at least 5-10 years! Love this truck guys!

Did you get or do you need an alignment? How does it feel after?

 

Great points…some aftermarket wheels are worse than others but not all are bad and if you are going for a specific look, stance or so on then more power to you…do what you want and I for one won’t bat an eye?

I don’t have a pro (I wish)…but the wheels it came with can really only be topped by a handful of aftermarket wheels that come in the truck application from a quality/premium build perspective.

On the level comment it’s more of the fact that most of the time 95% of folks ride around with nothing in the bed of the truck so instead of a rake they (I am in this boat) would rather the level look.

The other 5% of the time when the back is loaded up it may not be enough to even compress the spring far enough to notice the difference or even when the back is lower is for short times few and far in between.

So I hear you…great points but those are some of the reasons.

Thanks man! Hope you can get that lift on asap, it changed the whole look of it! The shop I took it to was about 200 bucks cheaper than the other but they weren’t set up to do the alignment. After just the lift was on I could tell the tires were definitely at a little bit of an angle, not sure if camber is the word or the other one but the tires were not straight. I drove it less than 2 blocks to the tire place for the alignment and not going to lie it was a little rough. Not smooth like the factory. After the alignment I drove it about an hour home and from what I can tell it is just a little stiffer when you hit bumps and potholes. I have unfortunately been comparing everything to my 07 FJ cruiser I had back in the day with a 6 inch rough country lift and 35 inch nitto mud grapplers and everything rides smooth as butter compared to that. But overall I am super happy with the lift and other than it being a little stiffer I can’t complain but I would recommend the alignment just from what I’ve seen with mine.

 

Yeah I figured on an alignment, not for toe, but caster and camber like you said.

Thank ya! I was worried about the 35s looking too small after the lift but it looks perfect! My mpgs are still not great but I only have 300 miles on the truck and went straight to 35s before running the tank out. I’m at like 13.7 mpg after running half the trip at 70-77mph on the interstate and the other have at 57-60 mph. This is one reason I’m glad I didn’t go 37s, still hoping the mpg numbers increase the more I drive it.

 

I put around 1500mi on the factory tires getting a combined 18mpg. Highest I saw was nearly 21.

After having the 35s Im getting around 15 combined. Around 35-55 and in and out of hybrid is the sweet spot, but at 70/75 she is thirsty and I was getting 14 something on my recent roadtrip.

37s look good but 35s are more practical for anything im going to be doing, including off road. i think a 2 or 3” front and 1” rear on these, along with 35s is ideal.

 

run over a pothole, go fast over a speed bump or some offroad with large bumps and you'll feel the crazy rebound from the preload collar. i don't have a pro but i run the preload collar on my 22 plat 4x4 so speaking with some experience. other than that, if you run 18's or 17's and not 20's+ you will have better ride quality. i am of fan of westcott's preload collar kits just to be clear as its better than a spacer but that rebound takes some getting used to.

 

I saw my first Pro today. I was surprised how big the stock tires look in person. They don’t look that big in pictures. Truck definitely looks even better in person.
