I have my double cab 21 Pro in MG finally being delivered in 2 weeks but I'm thinking I should get a 22 Pro. I've had a 07 and 09 Tundra so I'm thinking I want something different. However I love the v8 and this would be my first Pro. What do you guys think? I'm getting it at msrp. It's been keeping me up at night. lol

21 pro easily. See how this new platform is and if anything you will be able to get your money if not more should you decide to sell it a year or 2 from now.

I vote get the 21 pro. Wait 2-3 years for Toyota to get any bugs worked out on the 22.

Get the 21, if you want to trade up on 2 years you prob won’t lose a penny. Give yourself a year or 2 to see how the next gen performs.

I am tempted by the 3rd gen too. I decided I am keeping my 20 Pro and am starting to convince my wife to get the next gen Sequoia as she doesnt want another truck.

Who knows when you’d even get the 2022. Bird in the hand, as they say. Buy the 21 and enjoy your life! Besides it will be easier to mod the 21 with all readily available products.

Agreed with the above, get the 21, enjoy it, trade it in in a year or two…

reading that back it sounds like horrible advice but I really don’t think you would lose much value in the 21 pro.
The pricing on the 22 which no one currently knows is a big variable in this equation…

3rd option. Get the 21 Pro and supercharge it for less than the cost of the 22 (I assume).

This is a no brainer. Get the 21 pro because you won’t be able to get them new anymore. The 3rd gen will be available new for years to come. Opportunity to own a new 2.5 gen with the v8 and body style is diminishing by the day, if not completely gone. Opportunity to own a 3rd gen is just beginning.

this way if you get the 2.5 and love it, you keep it. If you don’t, you trade it in and get the 3rd gen. You have no regrets either way.

you may regret not getting the 2.5 and giving it a chance.

of course this is assuming you don’t have a preference on engine, trans, body style, price, etc and treating all things as equal

lastly, here in the southeast corner of PA you’d be lucky to find one at msrp. Even going back 2 years if you got one 1-2k under msrp it was a steal in my experience. Hence my trade in value being 62k right now

Don't underestimate the production challenges of 2022s. They will be around in December but the supply/demand will be off, I don't expect to see them in troves at dealers until the end of next year. Better to wait for that before buying to be able to get what you want exactly.

There is a potential that Toyota introduces new trims or adjustments to current trims after the first year.

I was literally in your shoes 45 days ago. Picked up a 21 pro a week ago and I was worried I would regret it but I am so happy I pulled the trigger. I get to enjoy this was patiently waiting to see how the new model works out.

If your dealer can guaranteed you a 2022 in a reasonable time, then sure, why not, from current status, 2022 Pros won't arrive at the earliest near end of Q1 2022 or Q2 of 2022.

The dealer always sells Pro's at MSRP. Right now any other Tundra is discounted at 500 off MSRP.

A couple of things. The new 22 Tundra TRD Pro’s will only be offered in Crew Max. No more Double Cab. Also the 22 Tundra TRD Pro’s are not going to be available until at the earliest March of 2022 as they are Hybrid only.

I personally just bought a 2021 Lunar Rock Pro. The 2022 looks really good especially the interior, however I needed a truck now.

If Toyota significantly raises the prices on the 2022’s then the 21’s will hold excellent resale value. If Toyota doesn’t raise prices (which seems unlikely) then the 2021’s will start to see significant price pressure. Especially considering almost everything about the 22 has been improved upon vs the 2021 except for the V8 engine.

I personally would wait on getting the 22. There’s always the chance of new model quirks. Once they are out for a bit and Toyota gets feedback from the owners maybe they will make a few changes for the better after a year or 2. I’d love to see them eventually add something like the Ford Powerboost where you can use the trucks hybrid system like a 7,200 watt generator. We can also dream that sales flop and they’re forced to offer another engine choice to entice more buyers down the line…Unlikely I know.

It’s easy to get one at msrp. I don’t know how financially you are. I went with the 21 Pro. My opinion you have nothing to lose. Don’t be the tester with the new model. I chose the 21 because I know if I decide to get the newer model you are not going to lose money on it. My Pro is paid for. And if I decide to trade up I’m in good position. If not I will keep my Pro. You do need to take into consideration if you are financing. Just my opinion.

I agree with what's said above. My wife talked ME into getting a LR pro for final year due to upcoming model change. It's practically an investment for us as I got mine at invoice. Wife works at dealership. I had an 08 and I was perfectly happy with it. But, the potential to own the last of gen 2 in pro model with fancy color was too good to pass up. I fully intend on driving the new models when they come in. I'd get new one at dealer pricing so that's not a concern. What the market determines of my V8 LR PRO will be a deciding factor as well.
Obviously my circumstances are much more friendly than some due to spouse being toyota employee, but those are my thoughts. Love the V8 but not married to any particular drivetrain. More interested in reliability which I'm fully confident in new truck maintaining.
