20th Anniversary Coming Up!

The wife and I have a 20th anniversary coming up. I kind of have an idea on what to do. She has always wanted to go to Las Vegas. Is this a good idea for our 20th? I am not one for crowds, though for her I can suck it up for a few days. After all she has put up with me for almost 21 years!

I don't gamble, so casinos don't interest me. What are some good sites and shows to check out while we are there?

 

Never been to Vegas except for the airport so can't help. But anything that makes the wife happy is probably worth it. Lol

 

Same here, landed, got my truck rental then drove out to Barstow/Ft. Irwin CA. Yep, the goal is to make her happy, she doesn't know that I am trying to plan this.

Thanks, it's not until January. Figured I would/should start planning. The good thing about his trip is the boys are old enough to stay home by themselves.

 

Went to Vegas for a week after a serious medical ordeal - need long then a week to see it all-

Definitely need to go see a classic burlesque show if the wife can deal with some topless women dancing on stage- very respectful not trashy

Also the pirate ship battles treasure Island it’s pretty cool along with the light and water show -forget which hotel that it?

There is also Hoover dam and Grand Canyon Tours that run out of Vegas- bus and helicopter

Thanks, Ron. Adding those to the list also. I would like to have some things kind of lined up when I tell her not to make plans for a week. I thinking exploring by day and shows at night.

 

We’ve been there a couple of times. I’m not much of a gambler either. I might “donate” $50.00 in a few days. While wifey plays the slots, I walk around the gambling floors just to watch the amount of money that some people piss away.
Hoover Dam is an hour away. Awesome site.
Lots of shows to see. Plenty of variety. Blue Man Group is great. Raiding the Rock Vault if you like classic rock and roll. “O” is awesome. Tons of other stuff also.
Check out the fountains at the Bellagio.
New York New York has a roller coaster on the roof. (There’s no freaking way you’ll get me on that!)
And then there’s just the weird stuff that you see walking up and down The Strip.

 

We went a few year back and went took the the fly over of Hoover Dam, and did the Skywalk that was fun!

 

Give her some money and send her to thunder from down under.

Oh I forgot, congrats on the 20 years, bud!

 

We just re-did our vowels 3 years ago even had the big church wedding. I have seen a couple of off-road tours. I think I'm going to need to spill the beans and get her input. I can tell you that Celine Dion is sold out! So I won't have to sit through that.

 

Thunder from Down Under? Never mind! Thanks, Jose! She can do that, if I get to go to one of the Full Auto ranges! Heck, she may want to go with me to the ranges instead!

Congrats! FYI, Vegas is not all Casinos, whores, and booze. They sell pot now, too!
Fun fact, Nevada has more mountain ranges than Colorado, and you can go off-roading, horseback riding, you name it, right near Vegas!

The Valley of Fire State park is a unique bit of outdoors around those parts, about an hour from the strip. Very lovely!

 

I was reading about that earlier today. I would like to check that out.

I have been thru there on business years ago. I would never take my wife especially celebrating our marriage..not to a place called sin city.

 

As I recall, you can get a 3 foot tall margarita for about $35, and you can walk EVERYWHERE with it! Harrah's sells them, I believe. 2 of those will make Celine sound like Twisted Sister!

 

Google LV shows for the dates you will be there, then you can pick and choose. The Cirque Du Soleil shows are nice. Whatever big entertainer is there at the time.

Las Vegas can be overwhelming. I would have at least one thing (show of some kind) scheduled in the evenings; if not you find yourself meandering, especially if you don't gamble.

One thing I couldn't talk my wife into was a fun instructional, "Stripper 101"; a How-to class for the ladies.

 

I am almost afraid to google that.

 

Our last trip we saw Rod Stewart - a good show if your a fan, and the Martin Short / Steve Martin comedy show - very funny, except for the banjo/music segment.

 

I think it is all about "aromatherapy"........
