Yeh being a Toyota employee we don't ever have any good lease specials or good money factors on the pro so I always opt for another trim. Right now my 23 Sr5 premium had an amazing residual and made for a great lease special. My 2022 did as well but not quite as good. So I technically can keep this one until may of 2026 if I wanted and would be perfect timing for the 2026 and pro color that passes down :)

special limited colors kinda pointless since toyota eventually releases the color to the general population for a given model/trim line.

At least Toyota still has some non standard colors
    .
Other OEMs are just white, black, silver and gray.

Wait!! A porthole rear window on a Gen 3 SR5?? First I've seen that.

    * Thx @Mattedfred . Honestly I’ve never seen one on a lot or noticed it on the road. Nor did I research the DC at all when preparing for my purchase.

I think Chevy has a quicksand-like color on their Colorados (might be the midsize GMC I'm thinking of instead), but it doesn't look near as good, more of a mudbutt brown. Toyota is one of the few manufacturers that have had some really good colors, and bad ones, but it's been a decent variety.

The best thing Toyota could do is to introduce colors ala 2019-2020 with voodoo, cavalry, cement, inferno, quicksand, etc. That was probably the best move Toyota has done re. the Tundra in a long time.
It certainly can't hurt the currently poor sales of the gen 3.

March 2024 was highest March sales in tundra history. Jan and Feb were top 3.

But tell me more of these poor sales

how much of those record sales have to do with the $5-10k markups now being $5-10k discounts

i will agree i think that era of colors is best, voodoo, cavalry, cement, quicksand

Record units sold. Not dollars. Adjusting for inflation even at a discount it’s costing more to purchase. So the fact they are increasing sales means people are leaving competitors.

Tundra would be the best truck to buy for a general truck, but they lose on the specialty trucks like TRX, Raptor, etc.

I mean like they're selling more units when they're discounted versus the MY2022 and MY2023 that were hard to find and/or marked up a bunch

I wouldn't get rid of my 2nd gen but if I had something else for whatever reason a discounted 3rd gen would be so high on the list it's a no brainer

Only if you tell me about gen 3 sales OVERALL: 2022-2024, after all, that was my thesis.
Anecdotal and unrelated, but one could ask how many of those trucks were almost immediately resold.

Many dealerships across the country were bloated with gen 3's throughout '23, even as recall-prone rides were slipping in the back door. Graham is likely right, those 10k markups melted away in favor of 5-10k discounts. Record sales! Voila!

That said, lest I be labeled a hater, I will eyeball the '25 Tundra if Toyota has it sorted--and hopefully with a cool color offering.

They sold over 125k tundras in 2023. Last time that happened was 2008.

2024 is at 36k sold in first 3 months.

Is Tundra exploding in sales? No. Small growth? Sure. Experiencing poor sales? lol

So you're telling me that dealers had lots of used Gen3 Tundra's and that's an issue *gasp*? Well you weren't gonna have a lot of used Gen3 in 2022, the first year they came out. Any new model in recent years has had markups because of manufacturer shortages, the fact that they've gone away does not indicate anything about Gen3 Tundra. Keep fishing

I think Toyota's allocation and production process is pretty outdated. Sales are good, but inventory is stacking up in some areas but not in others. And there is still a delta between what buyers want and what is in the pipeline or on the lots

For anyone that wants to flame me for the above, please Google the production outage from over a year ago. The root cause description was pure issues you have in pre-cloud, non virtualized computing environments from early 2000s. Toyo is cheap on IT and that marries them to old allocation and production processes that impact buyer options

Allocation process yes. Especially the “this is what you’re getting “ bit and the 2 distributor regions that bloat their inventory with 3-5k in crap accessories.

I get the allocation thought to a degree. It plays in later with their production processes and inventory management. But it sucks not being able to order- or in many folks case in 2022-23 accepting a truck that’s “my dream truck EXCEPT blank” .

Mudbath looks good in pics & videos. I need to see it in person. I'm in the minority but, I like Terra (Reddish, brown, orange). It also hides dirt very well.

I wonder if they are releasing a Trail Hunter tundra in that teal / bronze rim combo like the taco and 4 runner? if so I will order one today. Im good with the mudbath color too though. I'm kind of ready for a new one.

I think trailhunter will have bronze wheels on all models to make it different, that teal color goes well with it.

Fishing...riiight. Tell that to the many that have dealt with the chaos. Insane amount of these gen 3 trucks all over the place with 5-15k miles on them throughout '23, why? We all know why. Put down the crackpipe. Moving on....

I tried pretty hard to get voodoo. None to come by at the time (wanna say about 2021). The tail end of that color. If they come out with voodoo in 2026 I'd trade mine in for one same trim.

The special colors in that timeframe rocked. Quicksand and Cement are both awesome. Voodoo Blue and especially Calvary Blue IMO are epic.

then move off the 3rd Gen forums! You have nothing to contribute other than "things you've heard" or "I know a guy who has a 3rd gen" type information. No hard feelings
