thanks, ya, that second part there was my understanding if Im reading and thinking right, you can't block the plate anymore at all this year unless the throw takes you over into the baseline and you have to be there to catch the ball.

anyways, doesn't matter, just good discussion.

“…or apply the tag” is what allows it on the play we’re discussing. I’ve seen some weird obstruction calls early in the year when the fielder was blocking but the runner was still 25’ away.

(sorry, I’ve been coaching catchers in baseball for a few years now so it’s a hot topic for me! I was also pumped to see the catcher leave his hockey mask on for the duration of the play - I’ve been teaching that method and still get push back from the “rip the mask off” crowd)

ya there have bene a lot of rule changes lately so its hard to keep up.

in general , I like all the attempts to speed up the game.

I don't miss watching Nomar fuck with his gloves for 2 mins between every pitch, HA.

The pitch clock and limited pick-offs have been great. Only thing I don’t like is all the west coast games being over by 9:30. Maybe the A’s can go Vegas style and have a 9pm first pitch…

I don’t think that’s going to happen with the bullpen game .

Unless the dodgers score soon here , your not even going to see any of the top arms

It's definitely been a good series to watch, Cubs fan here so no interest in who wins just love watching good baseball. Freeman definitely is MVP as of right now!

Fun fact: home plate ump tonight is from my city. I've met him a couple times, awesome dude.

This game #5 is incredible as we're in the top of the 8th. Will go down as one of the best Series games ever. Just plain riveting.

Unbelievable the final game in the championship series is decided by a pitcher failing to cover on a ground ball to first. Our 10 and 11 year olds make that play on a routine basis.

Inexcusable... it was Cole's typical 'I'm gonna walk off the mound as a showing of my confidence that this inning is over for you'; he does this routinely on fly outs, etc. when it's the last out of the inning.

However, with that being said, it's never just the one play... Three errors in that inning (if you count Cole's play as an error); one by Judge and the other by Volpe (throwing error to 3rd base). Simply too many mistakes in one inning and that's hardly championship caliber baseball.

I'm not a Dodger fan, but I'm glad Freeman was MVP. He'll get a little something extra this year from Santa...

Cole on the other hand.... well, he gets Coal :santa2:

Lifelong fan as well. First 2 world series games I watched as a kid was the back-to-back Dodgers losses to the Yanks in 77/78. So this was a historic and bit of a tear-jerker win for me, got to see the Dodgers even it out vs the Yanks 2-2 in my lifetime. Who knows when they'll meet again in the WS.

Damn this series was too close for comfort, but an excellent one as well! Already looking forward to 2025.

As a lifelong Red Sox fan, this was a great series. Loved the games, the mistakes, and the end result. Precious.
Plus the karma from those 2 fans that grabbed Mookie.

That was the 3rd unforced error that inning, too. :eek2:

Credit to Betts, though: this is why we tell kids to always run their hardest.

No offense to the Yanks, but I love how A-Rod kept casting a vote against the Dodgers during pre-game predictions throughout the post-season, only to be wrong just about every time.

I never understood the logic behind that. I mean, on the other side of it, what does that say about your team if they couldn't even get there in less than half a season?

For sure, and it isn't uncommon that teams start getting hot after the first half of the season, which in and of itself is 80 games. Padres, Mets this season, and Diamond Backs up until the last month or so.
