I can’t figure it out either. We’re fortunate enough to have a nice income and pretty low levels of living expenses and a mortgage that is very very manageable, and I can’t find motivation for buying anything at current prices. We make probably double the median household income in our AO and drive a 17 year old Tundra and a now 9 year old Chevrolet SS; yet everywhere you look are new cars, trucks, and SUV’s. I don’t know how the hell these people are doing it and planning for their retirement etc.

I guess they all are secretly making $200K/year, because they’re sure spending like they do.

To some extent always been that way.

30 years ago the route to work took me thru an iffy area of ram shackle homes. All of the had newer Lexus, BWW and Benz out front. The cars were worth more than their houses. The image of driving a luxury car was more important than kids having to sleep in the bath tub for safety.

Same thing with guys that drive a $85k HD truck or TRX or Raptor with $1500 payment and family is in a 30 yr old trailer

Assuming everyone is saving for retirement is giving the human race way too much credit

Dealer will do $8.5k off msrp on any platinum on the ground, but they all have $997 in protectant garbage on them. So $7.5k off. Does not include current Toyota rebate. Said they have 3-4 different ones.

There was a time people were paying 3-10k above full price lol Even with the YoY model price increases the current discounts far outweigh the increase.

True. But most weren’t meant to be kept. But rather intentional flips. Some I did rotate through expecting to keep it didn’t.

and maybe folks are more quietly well off than we think? I mean like in the forums are the few voicing loud enough to represent the whole?

Easy to think so, but ballooning credit card debt, loans against 401K’s, and record levels of auto repossessions might tell a different tale in non enthusiast automotive forum land where all the normal folks are.

I talk to a manager at dealership I trade with when I get ready. He said Tundras were not selling very good. Said most people are hesitant about economy and fuel prices. He said most people are buying gas mileage vehicles like Camry and RAV4 etc. Said he expects a drop in prices in next 6 months or so. I drove through today. There were 5 tundras on lot. This time last year they were selling them before they got on lot.

Got 6% off MSRP, no dealer add-on BS, and more for trade. 0% financing also helped.

I meant like forums where people complain about issues. We see people complain a lot so some think tundra has a lot of issues. Was conveying same logic of see lots of people complaining about struggling so it represents the whole

And a second dealer has matched the 8.5k off and this one doesn’t have any dealer add ons. But no lunar rocks on the lot..

Toyota has a $1000 or $1500 rebate that expires tomorrow. What's the likelihood they extend or come out with something even better?
I'm wanting an ice cap truck but there aren't any locally. I could get a silver one. They are offering around $2500 on top of it. Limited Offroad non hybrid.

Hybrids just dont seem to be selling around here.

I think for the PNW market they will keep it another months. Maybe add better rates for 48 months like other regions are getting. There are just too many sitting around here that I don’t think it would be smart for Toyota to pull the current deal.

I had to drive 2.5 hrs away to get what I wanted. Could not get the local dealership to get their allocation with the specs I wanted and they were going to sell it at invoice. Went to Dell Toyota in PA, got them to come off the MSRP $5500 and installed the 3" lift for 4550. I had to negotiate with them and show comparable dealers in the area discounting them 4-6500K below MSRP. I also got 1.99 for 48 months. Im content with it, considering I couldnt get the "factory installed lift" as part of the build.

Now I have all these parts to sell to someone as they are sitting in my garage.

2024 Toyota Tundra 1794 Hybrid, 3" factory lift installed at dealer. $74.5K

And now a 3rd is at $8.5k off. Mag greys, silvers, and blurple are all that they have to offer. Guess we shall see what happens over the next few allocations. Probably will have to play this game all over again.

No one cares about your 2wd Tundra.

Pickup trucks that lack 4 wheel drive might as well be an El Camino.

Canadian dealer still only knocking $2k off '24 Platinum, and rates of 6-ish per cent for finance or lease.
Clearly not hungry enough — yet.

Toyota just had a blow out quarter with 20% sales jump year over year. Many models had best March ever. Trucks were up 15%. Prius, Rav4, 4Runner up strong. Lexus doing well even with age in the RX and NX lines. Even the Crown is starting to sell.
