Idk but $400 for 80 rwhp who cares? Actually I think you have to run a wire into the cabin through the firewall unless they changed something on JB4. I see you sold your Stillen exhaust...too loud or?

I’m confused, is there a Part number for the whole kit, can u just buy the cold air intake and get the ECU recalibrated, is that part of the cold air intake the reprogramming of the ECU?
    Thanks

Question, so if I get the TRD Performance Air Intake, is this all that is required to get the ECU software update for the bump in HP/Torque?
Is the software update an additional cost or just labor charge?
Dealer didn’t know much about the whole process, did get the intakes at a pretty good price.

Sorry for being new, but is this available as dealer installed option yet?

Apparently Yes - Post #14 and a few after with quotes from window stickers. Seems factory only and on the Pro right now.

I went and re-read all the post, seems to me u can buy the CAI and have it calibrated. I don’t know about the badge and stickers if they come with CAI.

thank you sir, I will have to talk to the dealership. I’d be interested in the package, don’t really care about the stickers. But like the idea that it’s covered under the warranty.

However…Post 44 says its only available on late build/model 24 Pro’s, and post 84 specifies that as Mid June and after.

My 24 Pro was a Dec 23 build for instance so according to these readings I couldn’t get it…but I too am interested.

So if your dealer finds a way for older builds let us know please :)

DIO Dealer installed Option, I would take that as installed before sold as an addendum, I would think they could install it after someone bought it, as it has to be programmed after installation of the CAI, which I am going to install and then have them install the software update.

It has to be installed at factory or port before delivery to dealer.

I dont think that is correct, or they wouldn't let you order the parts and have the software update done. I just bought the CAI, will have it Tuesday, dealership will do the software update

I just had to pay for labor - $231. I swapped the intakes in the parking lot, gave them a printed out installation procedure, and they took care of the rest. They didn't know anything about it either, mine was the first one they did.

Just installed the CAI, after about 30 miles, CEL did come on, taking it in tomorrow to get it programmed. It is a quality CAI, fits better than the AFE CAI, seems to be easier to get the filter in and out than the AFE. Will see after tomorrow how it feels and runs.
Will take some pictures later on today.

The TRD intakes must flow significantly better than stock with drop in TRD filters, better than any aftermarket AFE, Stillen, whatever or wouldn't trip the cel. Love to see those pics!

I talked with Ryan about that, he was saying these are not choked down by the tubing being smaller, thus increasing airflow, that was my understanding from him, I did look at the tubing from my stock ones and my AFE ones, the tubing is smaller than the TRD Performance CAI.

    None….so far
I must be in the minority as I can’t see the need. That said I came from a manual Tacoma, so this already feels like a massive performance boost.

There is no need. But the want is big enough for some that it's a nice option. You'd understand if you drove a truck with a JB4 or any piggyback tuner and felt the power increase, its very noticeable. Some are fortunate enough to be able to afford it, as its pretty overpriced...but thats a whole other issue.

Any idea what a JB4 with the 91 tune and drop in trd filters would look like in comparison to the complete factory trd performance set up? In terms of gains?

Im not sure on the hp bump in map 1 (91 octane) but I believe that's a 3.5psi increase.

There is a Stillen Tru-Control in marketplace for $400, that's a steal either one JB4 or Stillen or VR can easily match and on higher maps with 93 kill the $3400 TRD with the option to run 87 at the touch of a button
