Ordered the chrome badge, black isn’t available. Longo required my VIN. I bought the damn truck there.

Reply with "why does any vehicle need replacement parts?" I mean DUH, what a stupid question for them to ask. They are in the parts SELLING business - why do they care why someone wants to buy something? Money's money.

Badge was removed for PPF and damaged while being removed. Pretty simple.

Longo F’ing denied my purchase. I simply said I wanted the chrome version.
I didn’t read of the PPF comment prior to my reply to the dealer.

I'm pretty tight with the parts guy at my dealer. I'll ask him tomorrow about this silliness and get the lowdown.

Spoke to my parts guy this morning.

The fuel door decal # PT929-34240 is $13.25 + tax and he can order it today, but he said it would "take a couple weeks" to come in.

The tailgate badge # PT413-34240-02 he said is "tougher to get because it has VIN requirement". I forgot to ask price on this one but he is submitting an order with a VIN he said "should work" and he'll let me know shortly what Toyota says. I guess if he's successful, I'll just get the damn thing and pass it along to whoever wants it for whatever it costs me.

Update: Parts guy just texted and said the fuel door sticker #PT929-34240 has already come in. I didn't tell him to order anything and haven't paid for anything, but he went ahead and ordered anyway. He is still waiting on Toyota to approve the order for the tailgate badge. Based on what others have said, I doubt I'll get the approval, but my parts guy has never let me down before. He seems confident so we shall see.

Well, we got the fuel door decal in but Gulf States Toyota rejected the order for the tailgate badge. Parts guy had a feeling they would, but tried anyway. This is what he said:

"Unfortunately Toyota tries to limit those parts only to vehicle vin#'s that have the pkg. For example, years ago, people would add limited badges to 2wd 1995 4runners to try and increase the sales price of the vehicles. In 1995 the limited pkg was only available on 4wd models which created issues with resale values etc. I would say they are trying to protect the resale values of the customers' vehicle that came from the factory with the pkg."

Makes perfect sense and we tried. Oh well.

There is an easy solution. Someone with this option installed should post their VIN so we all can order the sticker

We already thought of that too. GST requires a picture of the damaged emblem. Sorry to say, but it seems like they have this thing locked down.

For the guys that own trucks with the Performance package, would you buy it again?

I’ve owned a 2023 TRD Pro with TRD exhaust and enjoyed the drive train. Sold it a while back, and now considering a new 2025 TRD Pro.

I’ve got a deal worked out for a little over 8% off MSRP on a Pro with Performance exhaust. Don’t want to be disappointed in the exhaust, specifically cabin noise.

Anyone try getting a 2 day subscription to TIS and flashing it themselves if their truck is the right ECU/CAL ID?

You must have a dealer level account for GTS+ in order to even see the Calibration files.

I was told this morning my parts guy had exhausted all his options/resources to obtain one of the tailgate badges. Gulf States Toyota will not release it for purchase - end of story. He suggested that maybe other dealers outside of GST may not have the same VIN-locked restriction, but I'm betting it is a Toyota-wide thing and not just GST.
