The JBL system in the Tundras is AWESOME, don't know where you got that from. It sounds great as far as the rest of the stuff, I am not sure if Gulf States charges 200 bucks for the bag of cell phone chargers I will have to look at the sticker.

The new limiteds are going for 24 to be Nightshades if you like that darked out look. I get it that these trucks have gotten expensive. I sold a good truck and had a good down which makes me not upside down but even at MSRP or 2-3 grand less than MSRP that is a lot of payment.

The dealer I bought from would have discounted in stock 1794s as well but not for an order allocated units

this window sticker makes no sense.

how does a painted mirror be a $60 factory installed option? i have never seen that before ever as an option as either a factory or port or dealer option.

and the same goes for the leather steering wheel.

ive seen the heated steering wheel but never just a regular steering wheel. they all come with a leather steering wheel as standard (granted its fake leather)

edit: i looked up the packages for the sr/sr5/limited and you can get a a leather wheel but its only part of a package and not a separate line item.

edit 2: i guess you can get a leather steering wheel and a painted bsm mirro as an option but ONLY on the sr5.

This was an allocated unit I’ve had to wait a month for. Also, I think it’s a good thing it didn’t PPF and options I didn’t want.
Still, I have to go get so there’s expense there.

I got it from owning a Platinum Tundra with the JBL system.. Mine is terrible in my 2021 and it was the same in the 23' that I test drove. Like I said other Toyota offerings with the JBL system is great but the Tundra is TERRIBLE.

while I agree the JBL in the older model is terrible, and it is TOTAL shit. The JBL in the newer platinum is much much better than that one. Still needs improvement and Im going to add some things at some point, but once you dial it in, it is much better than the last gen.

I mean how could it not be, my JBL in my 2016 platinum tundra was the worst stock system I ever owned, I ripped it all out and went kick ass aftermarket, lol.

So looks like a couple folks posted a claim to the below MSRP title, but there's no actual proof of a completed sale. No full/complete bill of sale with a VIN or stock number or window sticker.

So I'm feeling confident that my experience (paying straight MSRP without dealer adds) is a more realistic scenario for a good deal in the East coast market. I only shopped high optioned SR5 w/TRD and Limited trims.

You can look on the Toyota inventory website and see Tundra's listed $2k-3k above MSRP for the SmartPath price. I didn't even bother calling those dealers.

The other piece of important evidence during my 3 weeks of searching is some dealers don't even call you back if you try nudging a deal below MSRP. They must be selling them all, because I saw those trucks disappear off the inventory listing within a day or two.

I had 6 trucks with the options I desired selected as favorites on the inventory site and they all sold over memorial day weekend. 4 of them were offered $750-$1200 over MSRP and the dealers not willing to negotiate. The other 2 the dealers did the old bait and switch by listing below MSRP and then adding in a bunch of horseshit to push the price well over.

Interested to hear how anyone else's buying search is playing out in other markets.

Oh BTW the dealers I contacted in Maryland all told me they were bound to some type of "local sales only" agreement thru Toyota due to inventory restrictions. I didn't delve into it, but they said the only way they could sell to me was if I was still active duty and on orders to a base in Maryland. Some of the dealers had this restriction in bold type on their website listings.

Good hunting to the folks still on the search for their new truck.

I paid MSRP but I also sold a truck 3 years later for a few grand less than I paid for it when I purchased it. That gave me a substantial down that made the payment almost what I paid per month for my old truck maybe with 50 bucks of it. So,while paying msrp sucks but so did the used truck prices just a few months ago. You definitely have to time the market.

Just found a TRD pro MGM 2023 for 800 over MSRP 76k. I just have a hard time getting excited over it. It’s nice but if someone said keep your truck and a bag of cash $40k it’s a hard pass. We know the 5.7 is bulletproof, new engine not so much. Turning radius sucks. Acceleration not much more than my 5.7l. Not noticeable. The TRD exhaust sounds good. But basically a giant screen smaller field of vision. Cooler newer look but that’s debatable. Less clearance. Ride wasn’t all that much better. And I feel like it would break if rode hard off road. These new 23s don’t feel like a off-road rig like old school Toyota’s

I never ever liked or looked at Tundras before the redesign. The new truck is why I bought it, limited nightshade are coming for 2024 so if you like that look you can have it. The trd models of the Tundra are more than capable offroad as anything. If you have the right tires and suspension.

The post I put above on the $5K off on a 1794 with none of the bullshit add ons is an East coast dealer. I only shopped Platinum and 1794 trims so I can't speak to the other trims. A dealer I was trying to buy from in Asheville, NC was willing to match the price but couldn't find a truck to match what I wanted.

Sorry to burst your bubble but there’s plenty of below msrp sales.

I got someone in a hybrid 1794 for $6500 off msrp just last month. It depends on the trim and location.

Deliveries to dealers seem to be lumpy too. The local dealer was getting a premium over MSRP and had 2 units. All of a sudden he gets 8 at once and he'll discount match. Now they're waiting for inventory again.

Okay then like you said it really is how you look at it, after I sold my trade I bought my tundra for 55-60 percent off the msrp. So, I didn't pay msrp. Inflated resale is inflated sale, imo

Every local market is different. I don't know why but for some reason the Pennsylvania dealers are able and willing to sale their Tundras at $2k+ discount. I've been following Jim the broker and he regularly has a supply of Tundras at discount from PA dealers. Platinum trims seem to get $4k-$6k discounts.

I'd make the drive out to PA for a Tundra, you're only 4 hours away. Shoot, I flew into PA and drove my truck 900 miles home.

Did you bother calling Serra Toyota like I mentioned? You probably would have saved $4-5k off a loaded SR5 or Limited.

The $5k I got off on the 1794 was a cash purchase with no trade and again, no add ons that raise msrp.

They had a limited lifted with wheels and tires they sold for 10k over MSRP, maybe they discount other trims.
