They’ll announce on April 1st that they’ve partnered with Ford and Ford will build the new Tundras .

Hopefully Ford continues to use their third party suppliers, I've heard nothing but great things about their quality.

The Pro is an SR5 with
    • an appearance package (hood scoop, bed stamp, TRD logos in the seats and floor mats, special color),
    • coilovers/shocks built by Fox, and
    • $10-15k higher price tag

It seems like the way the truck is categorized in Canada is more honest.

    WRONG.

Toyota moved the Pro over to the Limited platform in 2019, which is why I explicitly said "there's nothing SR5 about the 2021 TRD PRO."

OK. I am confused. Aren't they all on the same platform? The trim models are different. So the limited is based on the SR5 base trim with options and the TRD Pro is based on the limited trim with options. Sort of arguing about an ancestor being your great grand dad or just you grand dad. He's still family.

Now next year, in 2022, that might be different. (Had to throw that in to keep this thread anchored in the original topic )

What Pro feature is missing from my list of differences between the SR5 and the Pro...front seat heaters?

I’m not sure you can’t get those at the SR5 trim level.

The Pro is 95% SR5 with those few select differences. Sorry

I was told for the rams, there is a difference in glass and insulation on the laramie and up not sure how true that is. Or if the other brands have something similar. But I would hope so with the jump in price for the premium trims.

Pretty sure GM doesn't do that currently, though they might start for 2022 based on all the feedback they got.

Pre 2019, the TRD Pro was built off of the SR5, so all they did was add the suspension, and cosmetics to the SR5. Starting in 2019, the PRO comes with all of the convenience features of the Limited, plus the Pro Suspension, and Badging.

Sure, I'd be glad to share the differences.

Here are the things that come standard on the Pro now that it is built off of the Limited trim, that don't come on the SR5 standard, or the previous Pros:

    - Deck Rail System
    - 38-Gallon Fuel Tank
    - Premium Audio With Dynamic Navigation—Includes 8.0-In. Touchscreen, and Apple CarPlay® & Android Auto™ Compatibility (Double Cab Only)
    - Color-keyed rear bumper
    - Color-keyed heated power outside mirrors
    - Black outside door handles with touch-sensor lock/unlock feature
    - 5-passenger seating capacity
    - Urethane tilt/telescopic 4-spoke steering wheel with audio, Multi-Information Display (MID), Bluetooth® hands-free phone, voice command, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), Lane Departure Alert (LDA) controls
    - Center-console gated shift lever
    - Smart Key System on front doors with Push Button Start; remote keyless entry with lock, unlock and panic functions, and remote illuminated entry
    - Auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink® universal transceiver
    - Fixed covered center console with storage compartment and second-row vents
    - Anti-theft system with alarm and engine immobilizer
    - Dual Zone Automatic Climate Control

And then here are things that come on the TRD Pro now, that you can't get on the SR5:

    - LED Headlights With LED Accent Lights and Black Sport Trim With Manual Level Control and Auto On/Off Feature
    - Power Horizontal Sliding Rear Window With Privacy Glass (Double Cab Only)
    - Power Tilt/Slide Moonroof With Sliding Sunshade (CrewMax Only)
    - Premium Audio With Dynamic Navigation and JBL®148—Includes 8.0-In. Touchscreen, and Apple CarPlay® & Android Auto™ Compatibility
    - Power windows with driver and front passenger one-touch auto up/down

And then here are things that come on the TRD Pro, that are exclusive to the Pro trim:

    - 18-In. BBS® Forged-Aluminum 5-Spoke Black Alloy Wheels
    - "TOYOTA" Grille With Color-Keyed Grille Surround
    - Black Badging (These are an optional add on for all trims, but standard for Pro)
    - Carpet Flooring and TRD Pro Floor Mats
    - Heated Black TRD Pro Leather-Trimmed Front Bucket Seats With Red Contrast Stitching
    - TRD Pro Bedside Stamping
    - Rigid Industries® fog lights
    - TRD front skid plate
    - FOX® front and rear shocks, rear FOX® shocks equipped with piggyback reservoir
    - TRD dual black-chrome-tipped stainless steel exhaust system

So of the 55 options that are available between all three of these trims, there are 14 that don't come standard on the SR5, but you can still get on it, and 15 that you can not get on the SR5. Seems like a bit more than a few select differences. By your account, the Platinum would be an SR5 with a few select differences.

But hey, who can be bothered with facts.

Hmmm, I was comparing on the Toyota website. Let me look into more, and I'll update my post. I can admit when I'm wrong.

I have dual climate, LED headlights, Nav, CarPlay, bed rails, 38-gal tank.

And I drive an SR5. In fact, almost everything you mentioned is available at the SR5 trim level.

My prior list of Pro vs SR5 differences should include the grill and wheels and maybe seat heaters. :hattip:

So I went back and looked at it, and the SR5 Upgrade Package isn't standard on the SR5, it's a $945 upgrade.

We're going off of standard build. None of those things you mentioned you have are standard options for the SR5.

Since when has the deck rail system been a part of the SR5 upgrade package? I have the SR5 upgrade package and it didn't include the deck rail system.

When I go to dealer sites and see the SR5 upgrade package as a part of a truck, it doesn't list deck rail system either.

    The SR5 Upgrade Package:
Includes larger fuel tank, front bucket seats, power driver's seat with power lumbar support, front center console with floor-mounted urethane shift lever and knob, tilt and telescopic urethane steering wheel, three front cup holders, and anti-theft system with alarm and engine immobilizer.

I see it as a $210 add on, but don't see it included in any packages. Maybe it's one of those things that are commonly added on by dealerships like the Predator Steps, and Spray in Bedliner out here.

    A bunch
The racing being development for street products is why I'm so confident in the Tundra getting a V6TT hybrid. Guess what's in the Toyota WEC entry from the last bunch of years - V6TT hybrid. It's a tad different than I expect from the Tundra - in the TS050 the gas engine powers the rear wheels and the electric motors power the front wheels. That's why when someone mentioned electric motors on the rear and the gas engine powering the fronts I certainly wouldn't object. I expect the Tundra to be more conventional hybrid but the V6TT isn't something they're pulling out of thin air.

Yes, they are options. Many come in various packages. That doesn’t change the trim level of the truck. Also, Limited is not a platform. It’s a trim level.

The Pro in Canada is a package for the SR5. Not the Limited. Here in the states, the Pro is its own trim level with very few performance-oriented differences from the SR5. Most of the Pro’s features that you can’t get on the SR5 are appearance-oriented.

Mine doesn’t have the seat heaters, but I do have that package. Maybe including seat heaters is a Canada thing.

Private party 40-41 all day .. esp if you keep that nice sound system intact. Props for keeping mostly stock look, same way I like it with tasteful mods. Just read the TT thread again and laughed because putting 18's and cancelling the clown steps was two things negotiated before taking the truck off the lot.

Or you can have mine for $95,000. I’ll deliver it anywhere in the US.

Actually, I’d have to think on it. I really like my truck.

The PCS collision system cannot be completely disabled unless you start unplugging things and live with a warning light on the dash.

IMHO it is a bit of a PITA as mine falses often especially in evening sun and twilight conditions.

The best you can do is turn the sensitivity down.

It's not a terrible system and I'll live with it on my 2018 as it probably does prevent accidents overall. I still believe we are on the front end of the development curve for many of these driver aids/safety features.
