I don’t have the MFT or the safety sphere group or the technology group or the cooled seats or the rear heated seats or the Ram boxes or the adaptive cruise control .... etc
Standard features are the auto up/down front windows , the heated strip in the defrost , auto headlights , tilt/telescoping steering wheel , air conditioning , cruise control , push button start , power door locks as does most other trucks the options are where they differ .

no worries, Toyotas are like fine wines. They aged well. Look at the old FJs, Tacomas, 4R, Lexus..selling for premiums on the used market.
I'm not too worried about what the future brings.

Im curious on one thing, what trim truck did you buy?

I've always noticed the guys that buy the lower trims trucks don't want or say they don't need any of the newer features or that they are a total waste or will break, etc. The guys that buy the platinums do want those things and more, which makes sense.

That being said, as far as a platinum level truck, the current tundra isn't on the same level as the other comparable higher trim trucks.

so as I have said before, from a top trim buyer perspective, thats where more of the guy on here who are calling for additional things are coming from, especially as the price is heading towards 55-60K, they need to work on content in that level of tundra.

if the base model keeps all that out and keeps the price down, then thats fine, but the top trim needs to be upgraded both in quality of materials, matching of material colors, and feature content, and especially functionality of the interior, storage, etc in my opinion. As you get to the top of the line truck and pay large prices, reliability isn't the only thing that matters, it has to have comparable interior and features as well to compete in that specific level in my opinion.

I didn’t get really far into negotiating other brands because I found the exact Tundra I wanted. I was looking at Laura GMC for an AT4 and local Chevy dealers for a Trail Boss or RST with leather and sunroof. I could find the RST with 95% of what I wanted and it was close in price. The Trail Boss and AT4 were both priced high enough that I didn’t pursue it.

I didn’t really look at Ford because Louisville is a Ford town (2 plants here making F250 and bigger and the Escape) and F150s run around here like NY cabs.

I don’t believe any manufacturer is stupid and with Ram coming out with uconnect5 in 2022 , the new F-150 and the new interior in the GM twins it makes sense to hold off so the Tundra is the last thing people hear about for that year .

That would be in line with a plant retooling. Production would probably continue with a predefined set of models rolling off with lower end trims being the last ones as they systematically close down portions of the plant. That would probably take them to June/July burning off parts inventory and existing supplier commitments.

I guess the real indicator will be when Tacoma production in Texas stops and shifted over to Mexico. That would free up a lot of space in the plant to be retooled ahead of time.

Definitely an interesting point of view. Actually a good point. My argument would be that it takes years to develop these features and tool up for production. If Toyota thinks that being last to announce will give it emphasis in the minds of consumers would mean that their features are not that compelling.

You might be very well correct knowing how skewed marketing people's view of the world actually is. I once worked for Weight Watchers and back in 2015 the company ran its first super bowl ad (and only) that was a complete debacle. Wrong message and wrong venue. No one got it except the marketing people. The advertisement was a complete waste of time and money. It was praised by advertising media but in the end the SVP of Marketing was shown the door a couple of weeks later along with most of her staff. The point I am making is that if an advertising savvy company like WW can make a bomb of a marketing decision then so can Toyota.

Please don't get me wrong, I am not knocking Toyota. I want to see Toyota to succeed but sometimes you need a good friend to tell the truth even if you don't want to hear it.

Ignore and don't use. Ok so it has a on of button, don't you still have to turn it off everytime you start the truck? Plus I still have to pay for a feature I don't need or want.

The price of the top Tundra trim level is not on par with the competition either. Even a Pro won't run me over $80k CAD while the top offering from the others could.

Actually Ram coming out with uconnect5 in 2022 is just speculation as of now , FCA has put it in the Pacifica and Durango but they haven’t said anything official about Ram .
GM hasn’t really said too much about their interiors officially .
Ford had no choice because they brought their new F-150 out this year .
I’m very interested to see what Toyota does with the Tundra because I can’t imagine what they’re coming out with to out do the rest . I’m not saying they won’t just that I don’t know what it would be .

The Pros around here are 80k before taxes and licensing. How are they so much cheaper out west ? The Platinum Tundras are over 80k here . They’re completely in line with the big 3 here .

They stay off, and when turned “on” you can adjust the sensitivity. On my 18 and on my wife’s 4R the systems are so unobtrusive that you would question if they are even there or even work.

TSS is a beautifully implemented system.

Well that's a plus then, I have no experience with it and it's kept me from selling the wife's 2012 tacoma and picking up a new 4 runner. I have seen lots of people having issues with the sensors and it's just another thing to go wrong and cost you money in the future.

Nope, I've turned off the features I don't want to use - and they don't come back on. My wife likes the nannies, and she turns them back on for the rare occasion she drives my truck. Do you ever use the window switches in your backseat? Do you find it ridiculous that you had to pay for those, shit - even the passenger one, THREE SWITCHES that probably added hundreds of dollars to how much paid, and you'll probably never use them. You could totally survive with only the driver (you) having those. What about the cupholders in the backseat? Can't those losers back there just hold their damn cups? I mean, it's not like they have anything else important to do with their hands - they're not driving. And then having to turn things on, or off every time we start our trucks - it's ridiculous. During the day, I don't want my headlights on, and I night - I want them on, why can't this damn truck just do it on its own? Do I seriously have to turn those on, and off every time I drive at night?

    See how you sound?

The highest price for a new Tundra I can find out here is about $75k.

I was mistaken, there are a few up to $80k. But still $10k less than the competition.

That’s apples to oranges though. Stock ford trucks vs “custom” tundras with aftermarket stuff added on by the dealer

Yes, but there is no new news from Toyota so the discussion digress.

We won't know anything more until February 30 when they make the big announcement.

Kinda poor advertising to call it a SR5 then, there's nothing SR5 about the 2021 TRD PRO.
