Yep. Tax per mile is en route! I hate the idea honestly but it does make a lot of sense, in that, people that use the roads the most will pay more to use them.

Eventually or within a year or two I’m sure they will be dropping the V8 as well.

I'm guessing it'll be pretty good. The F150 used to have a 6.2L V8 with about 410HP/430TQ. My guess is they ended up getting rid of it because it wasn't far off from the 5.0L

With that said, I can tell you that even now, amongst Ford owners, they'll go out of their way to buy a truck with the 6.2L; the engine itself was rock-solid, made great power, etc.

I have to be honest and say I'd be absolutely flabbergasted if the V8 weren't at least offered as a base model engine. I keep hearing about how the 'whole industry is moving away from V8's' and yet literally all of the full size trucks out there still offer them.

My guess is the value will skyrocket, multiple things going for it. Production was cut for the 20/21 models, Last V8 model???, and personally one of the last few vehicles that can easily be maintained or repaired in the driveway.

I think it depends on how good the 2022 is. If it's similar HP and TQ or more with mid 20s MPG then that may hurt the value. Especially if gas prices keep rising. Or if the 2022 flops or has issues it could be similar to having a 2003 7.3 powerstroke instead of the 2004 6.0.

But with the low #s of tundras out there I'd bet they still hold there value better than the big 3. Thats why I've been looking for one lately, I may want to sell in a couple of years and figure I'd only lose 5k if that

As other's have said, a lot of it will come down to the success of the 22, and what Biden does to the price of oil and the taxes he or the states apply to the cost. In Canada our Federal government keeps applying tax on top of tax to the price of fuel thinking it will make us use less.

Reading some of this thread with respect to the possibility of a TTV6, I cruised on over to clublexus forum and found this in the 4th Generation LS sub forum:

Hi everyone. I am new here on the LS side. I've usually been on the RC F side but haven't posted in awhile. Now to the point. My dad bought his 2018 LS500 F Sport AWD back in September '18. This past September around 21k miles, the motor threw a rod. I was driving at first and heard a very slight knock. Dad was in his DB11. Heading back home, he was driving the LS and the knocking became increasingly loud and the motor failed on the highway. Called a tow, sent the DB11 45 minutes home to get moms LX570 to fit the rest of the family. Car was towed to the dealership. The diagnosis was rod bearing failure. Lexus decided to only replace the bottom end even though the general manager and us pleaded to Lexus for a whole new motor. Fast forward to last Wednesday. Just a week after coming back from its 25k service, the motor blew again. Same rod knock. Has anyone experienced this issue? We've bought many Lexus vehicles for over 25 years and this first time any Lexus has ever given us problems.

Doesn't bode well for the reliability of the the TTV6....

All Lexus engines are built in Japan. This is very rare. Lexus is quality.

There is also a few people on this forum that had the 5.7 valve springs fail. No matter how good something is, it’s not perfect. If there were a lot of rod failure issues it would be popping a lot more.

    The only certainties are

A.) no matter what it is, has, or looks like, people here will hate it

    and

B.) no matter what it is, has, or looks like, demand will be through the roof and it will sell incredibly well compared to Tundra over the last ten years

Oh I know! Maybe it’ll be something crazy like the new RAV4 Prime. The new Tundra will have that V6TT and dual electric motors with a huge stack of batteries and 200 miles of electric range.

    I kid, of course.

As long as I can remove/cut the bumpers off and put real ones on, I’m fine with it.

If it doesn't have at least 600hp and get 50mpg while towing 20,000lbs it's stupid, Toyota's stupid and I'll buy a GM next time.

New tacoma comes out in 2024, so I don't think that's right, unless they mean 2024 MY 2023 release.
People won't be too happy with the engine coming to the 2024 Taco. Lets just say the current Tacoma has 6 cylinders and the upcoming one has less than that (hint hint ford ranger)

It definitely appears, and time will tell, that Toyota is going down the EcoBoost road for powertrains with some hybrid options.
