I wonder if that means there will still be a Super Bowl commercial. Maybe they purchased 2 spots. I think the one was basically a olympic sponsor commercial.

Check the build link in my signature.
All of those smart keys have a transponder chip in them that if you hold in the right spot next to the start button you can still start the car. No battery needed... and not just Toyotas

Turbochargers and superchargers are nice, but most I've heard about seem to be on all the time, which can't be ideal for longetivity. What I would like to see is an old reliable powerplant with a lever or button to push for reserve power. You would need it only one-day-in-ten, but we all know times when that would be ace. I'd go for the 5.7 with a supercharger & a control marked "Emergency Power". Guess they'd have to change the emblem to "5.7 I-Force S/C". I drove a Tundra with a V-6 for 18 years and even that would work.

As much as we would like the V8 in the tundra still, I think it will be the TTV6 and a Hybrid option. It seems Toyota is heavily going towards the Hybrid option on all their vehicles.

It's not just Toyota, all manufacturers are. GM has already said all t.heir models will be full EV by 2035. Governments are basically forcing it upon them

In my Ram you only have to touch one button on the steering wheel and tell it what you want . If Ram does that I can’t see Toyota not doing that .

I think the article has one thing right and it will make me hang on to my 2019 Tundra until it falls apart...the new Tundra will price me and many other customers out. All models will probably be very expensive.

My understanding is that in the Prius it only controls stuff like calls, radio stations, etc. Nothing about climate controls. It’s also a very clunky system. Maybe I’m just an introvert and old but what happened to physical buttons where muscle memory tells you where to go? “Alexa, I’m cold” In the time it takes me to say that the button would have been pressed already.

But speaking of Ram, I did take a look at the TRX. Looks to be a decent deal if you can get one at MSRP. Maybe when supply and demand evens out prices will go down.

You can get a “stripped down” version now ..... lol . Still stupid expensive . The one guy in BC got his with the employee pricing so he paid under MSRP .

I think they’re doing this so you don’t have to take your hands off the wheel .

Another FINE example of 'outsourcing' to non English speakers.... Oy veh.... I HOPE that this was just poorly translated from another language. If not, my 6th grade self wants a career restart as an auto writer.

The writing is about on par with that of the "editor" of our local "paper" and I'm reasonably sure English is her first language. Kids these days just have no written communication skills.

we have a new 2021 Highlander hybrid platinum. Has the 12.3” radio. It controls everything. Some of the controls are redundant with buttons. But the majority are on the display only.

I much prefer to not have to talk to inanimate objects (heck I'm not a huge fan of talking to people either lol), most voice control things screw up - I've tried this in my Tundra and the wife's Ram, and the work Ford. I have to speak very slowly and extra enunciate words. Give me physical buttons every time over a fancy screen - I can't count the number of times I've changed radio stations in the Ram when I want a different temperature

Why can’t the big three and Toyota for example together push back against these unrealistic expectations?

There are physical buttons on the back of the steering wheel that control radio functions for everyone that can’t enunciate their words .lol

If Toyota does in fact eliminate the V/8 option next year, I wonder what trade in values for our magnificent beasts will be for those wanting one. :monocle:

The federal government sees about 36 billion in fuel tax revenue annually. As more people wean off of gasoline, I think we'll see a steady increase in those taxes to offset lost revenue. Especially here in California where its a past time to punish the middle class (California alone generates 26 billion in state fuel taxes annually). Eventually, something will have to replace the fuel tax...we may start seeing a tax per mileage driven in a year.
