Damn right. I still brag about being a Cellular Field Engineer when I worked for Motorola. We were a badass group, built out the 3G Verizon network from scratch in a matter of months.

Side note, you can thank Qualcomm for the cellular system you have now. It's called spread spectrum, CDMA, Code Division Multiple Access. And you can thank an actress Hedy Lamarr. Hedy Lamarr - Wikipedia. Weird, an actress at the outset of WWII has the foresight to implement a telecom system that is awesome today. Qualcomm revived WWII tech and here we are.

Arguing with an engineer is like wrestling with a pig in mud. You're not going to win and after 5 minutes you realize the pig enjoys it.

Same here. If I get the Pro I’ll get the lift if it’s not spacers and not ridiculous on the price. Down the road I might look into a bumper and winch. Other than that the bed mat, maybe the swing out tool box, roll-up tonneau cover, bigger tires when I replace the tires.

My build will be mild, Decked system, topper, mild lift, new wheels and tires and lighting. I’ll definitely do a bumper once available- we live in deer country

I dunno...I've won most arguments I've started with engineers. Mainly because I pick arguments I know I'll win. Generally they're the ones where the engineer has designed something impossible to build in the field because they've never held a tool in their life. Square peg, round hole kind of thing and don't give me any nonsense about making the hole bigger because I thought of that and it won't work without moving 3 other components. :D

Do you off-road at all? I’m on the fence as well but the only reason for me to buy the PRO is because it looks bad ass. I don’t off road at all. The features of a loaded 1794 would serve me better and give me more enjoyment 99 percent of the time. I think I’ll finally use common sense and buy the one that suits me better but we will see.

No, I don’t off-road now, but it’s something I’d like to get into now that my kids are grown and I have some more disposable income. Kinda like you if I get the Pro it’ll mostly be because I think it looks best, but I’d try to use it the way it’s intended at least some. I’m also considering the Platinum because I like some of the features and I don’t like all the chrome on the 1794.

Well want to talk about crazy expensive? My local Toyota dealer in Orange County just sent me an email telling me that the Pro will have a markup of $10k to $25k…. I told them good luck! Needless to say I’m looking elsewhere.

I hope that’s not the norm in Canada. Even if there’s a $5k markup I’ll tell them to kick rocks and will unfortunately have to go buy a 4runner or something.

Question and sorry if it’s covered previously by someone else; is this additional 2” long travel setup on top of the Pro which some people have said that may have an additional of 1” of travel (not lift) over the standard TRD Off Road suspension?

Was there ever a trd pro with out moon roof option? I don't need the trdpro but if I need to pay msrp that's the only option I'm going with, I'm not paying over or paying msrp for any other trim.

And is the 1600lb payload rating correct on the pro?

It’s weird the original phot teases said the “available” pano roof for the TRD photos. But that spec PDF says standard.

I off-road my current platinum all the time, it is actually more off-road capable than a trd pro for less $ at time of purchase (paid $49k + super sweet deal on awesome suspension from icon)= cheaper than a pro. I’m willing to bet a loaded limited, or 1794 with aftermarket suspension, aftermarket lightbar (Baja designs onx6, and new tires) will run circles around the pro. The pro would have been a knock out for me, but they aren’t offering a long bed option. So 1794 trd off road with a ton of vinyl wrapping in the chrome and a few aftermarket parts will do. Bet it’s still cheaper than what a pro will cost 99% of buyers for the first 2 years. Too bad the platinum colors suck and your cannot get the off-road package. Platinum lunar rock or army green off-road would be the ultimate.

Not a fan of the chrome either. I deleted it on my Limited. I’ll see how much I’m willing to put up with on the new gen.

No one really knows except TRD. It was developed for the SEMA chase truck build, so whether it makes it over as an actual factory option or TRD accessory is anyones guess. Not sure what the net travel numbers are, the +2” is the width over stock not over factory travel.

Thanks! After looking at a Black 21’ TRD Pro I realized if I spent the extra money what would be in my garage is VERY similar to what is there now. I may follow some members advice on here and get some Katzkin or Roadwire leather installed, exhaust, and just enjoy the truck. The used pricing is just so crazy it makes me want to jump ship for a new one.

If I buy a 22 limited - can I get the chrome grill replaced for color matched at a Toyota dealership/service department? How much would something like that approximately cost?

Yeah, if they offered the TRD Off-road on the Platinum I don’t think I’d be questioning what I’ll get, if the price is reasonable. Though I doubt you could get the avs on it with the Off-road package. The colors don’t matter to me, I wouldn’t get any of the greens regardless. The only Platinum color I definitely wouldn’t get is silver.
