Don't listen to the negativity. Not sure why people are on a 2022 tundra thread if they don't like it. Not like complaining will make toyota nix the truck and start again....once supply catches up I'm sure we will see a ton of these on the roads.

    Oh and welcome!

Think of it as family gossip............ Everyone hates the 'new' addition, especially if it is a replacement ;-)

I’m wavering on getting the new Ultimate Denali and just got a call from my Toyota dealership today. Maybe they sensed it?

On second thought that can’t be possible Toyota doesn’t have tech sophisticated enough for that. Haha

It says a lot about society if Toyota did extensive research studies to determine the best truck for todays market and came up with this. I couldn't imagine putting in my typical work day of pouring concrete, or laying block walls, then hop into one of these to drive home covered in dirt & cement dust. How about loading a pallet of cement into that bed ??? . . . I'd lose my mind.
I guess this is the perfect truck for a high-paid 'Tech-Worker' working from home, who sports a beard and throws on a weekend flannel to play the part . . . especially after it's been rigged as an 'Overlander' for 'Glamping'.
    Sad days indeed.

This ain't nothin'! You should have been on the Jeep Forum when they killed the Inline 4.0 for a *gasp* V-6 mini-van motor! in the new Wrangler.

This crowd is pretty accepting of the changes in comparison.

Honestly the new Denali looks awesome IMO and I would drive one with the 6.2 in it. BUT, the main reason I buy Toyota is for their reliability even though they are usually way behind the curve with their trucks.
The new gen hasn’t proven anything however.

Most half tons are going this direction or have already went. I believe all manufacturers think that if you really need a truck for work, you’re going to go up to a super duty. Half tons are the SUV replacement for families.

Don't disagree but starting at $81k...... There will probably be a few add ons and will be pushing $90k after taxes! Long term that price will come down, but I know dealers locally won't go below MSRP on that truck......

Yeah, it says that most of society doesn’t spend a typical work day pouring concrete and laying block walls. How do so many people seem to be surprised by this?

I don't always manage to get a tag, but when I do, the Tundra will fit a dead moose (both in capacity and length) just fine. I don't work in tech, the beard itches the heck out of my neck, and I prefer camo, although flannel does feel nice on the skin.

Surely you don't do these things in your current Tundra, with it's lower HP/torque/payload than the '22...
I wish it had 2k lbs of payload, and I'll keep my 2nd gen for a long time, but the '22 is still an improvement in almost every way over the current truck.

No tow hooks on 1/2 tons trucks is a trend? I guess call a tow truck. Sounds very millennial.

I was thinking the same thing as a pallet of cement is 3000 plus lbs. Sounds like he needs to be more concerned on what the big three are rolling out for 3/4 tons.

The payload is, but the head room will be tight depending on the size of your bun.

nothing against you just using your pic, this is just a generalization.

funny how people love the looks of this truck and no one complains about the dam chromed front grille, but you put a chrome front grille on a tundra and everyone goes nuts saying how ugly it is.

i mean this grille looks like the old 2.5 gen chrome grille with the slates.

So the ‘22 is perfectly capable of what you use your truck for.

That’s a nice clean 1st Gen by the way. :hattip:
