I think maybe running severely reduced shift sounds more right.

I understand the order process. It's priority 10 at pretty high volume dealer. I also had a person at Ford (mod on F150 forums) told me back in July it was scheduled for 9.13. Then they shut down/ severely reduced production. And it hasn't been rescheduled. It's been confirmed and VIN assigned since late May/ Early June.

"In Order Processing Scheduled to Week (Week -of Sep-13-2021 ) Ford Kansas City Assembly Plant, MO Jul-16-2021"

My window sticker hasn't generated yet which generates 2 weeks before the scheduled production date. So if it was originally scheduled for production on 9/13 and it's still not 2 weeks out, I'd say Ford his having production issues.

I assumed you were buying a Superduty. Production is moving along well there. If you didn't receive an email from Ford it was not scheduled for production.

I have seen some post stating the back seat is a little smaller in the crew max on the 22's. Anyone know for sure. Possibly looking at a crew max with long bed.
    Thanks!

Interesting. Time will tell if it's right or not, but that would be slightly above the F-150 hybrid.

I think legroom is similar but headroom and shoulder is reduced.

Its an inch or two less legroom. Seems like the back seat in all Tundra models has shrunken just a tad.

The Gladiator is built differently in Australia. It’s not simply a case of them rating the exact same vehicle we have here in the States differently according to different standards. They also got rid of the two lower trims and added a new trim with upgraded suspension and the heavier duty rear axle that was previously only available on the Rubicon.

The whole point of this is, someone brought up that the Hilux might be rated differently if it were offered here in the US. Well, when it was built here, it wasn’t. It was a 1ton midsize truck just like everywhere else in the world.

Longer, wider truck = smaller interior comfort dimensions…….makes sense.

I was saying the same thing from the first photos, the bed looks smaller and shallower. The depth of the new Tundra bed is only about an inch deeper than the Tacoma.

The Tacoma Bed dimensions for a visual reference most are familiar with or can look at

    60.5 L
    41.5 W
    19.1 D

The depth difference on the new one from the old you will notice in your day to day doing truck stuff....

    Competitors bed depth for reference

    F150. 22.4
    Silverado. 22.4
    Ram. 21.4

Sheet rock test it still passes.

Roughly 8” narrower and 2” shorter in height and 1” shorter in length.

If my maffs are correct, that is a reduction in bed volume of 10 cubic feet(excluding wheel wells). No small thing.

5.5’ is already a small bed but damn. It’s like a trunk now.

I’ve got the money sitting in my bank account but I’m still on the fence. It will come down to pricing.

Some of my disappointments are the front grill styling, tires looks very small compared to the bulbous body and the increase in complexity of the motor that just falls short in performance compared to the competition. Some of the likes are a better ride, reduced cabin noise, more tech than the old truck and the interior.

the 2" shorter height especially, thats getting close to not fitting coolers, etc with a flat Tri fold tonneau type deal

ya know, the more and more small details that come out it seems like these small details are going in the wrong direction, hopefully that trend does not continue.

how can it be 8" narrower, that doesnt even seem right, I wonder if there are still some typos and incorrect info.

The 8" narrower is probably due to the composite box, on a steel bed you basically have almost as wide as the bed but the composite box is one size and then you have the outer skins, If you look at a tacoma from the outside, it doesn't looks like the bed should be as narrow as it is either.

I keep looking close at the pic's saying that bed looks smaller and shallower as well as the truck looking like the ground clearance was pretty low. Those 2 things are not insignificant for full size trucks.....

I wonder if the engineers are watching comments saying...wait till they discover the next xyz that got smaller or slower....lol

Thats probably about right, I just looked at my Tacoma with the same type of bed, it looks like it could be about 4 inches of space from the box to the outer skin. That would explain the 8 inches, makes sense to me. There is a trade off to the composite bed if they had made it wider, the truck would be too wide.

This is especially annoying because GM found a way to use high strength steel to make their beds even bigger.

My 2nd gen Tacoma is also about 4 inches. Maybe 3? I cant imagine a composite bed needing 4 extra inches

Anyone have a link to the pics of 1794 brown interior, not the cream?

Also, what are the wheels specs for this truck? 6 bolt, but what offset, backspacing etc. will 17’s fit?

Bummer. I would not be able to carry my Dometic fridge on its slide under a tonneau like I do now if that is the new Tundra bed depth.

There are things I like about the 3rd gen (the added power and the stability offered by the fully boxed frame), but little details like this make me think I’ll just go HD when it’s time to trade this truck in. Who knows. I really like Toyota as well.

I have played around in a few fleet owned Hiluxs in Australia, They set them up a 1 tons (metric) too. I rented one that I carried some equipment on. I got stopped 3 times and weighed to be sure I wasn't over GVWR.

6 x 5.5 or 139.7 if same as Taco/4Runner/GX460. I do not believe 17" wheels will clear the calipers. They have 18" available.
