Isn’t the RAM built in Mexico? I know the Tundra is built in Texas, its more American than most of the “domestics”.

Except for the wages that go into building it. You know, for the people in Texas. Besides, it's not like Japan is refusing to enforce border control into our country, or allowing tunnels full of drugs and illegal weapons into our country.... If my money has to go to Japan or Mexico, it's not a hard choice for me.

And that's nothing against the people of Mexico, it's about the corruption in their government.

Think I would much rather see components and vehicles get built here in the US by the heart of the US economy then the big money HQ of the company be in the US...

For Toyota the number of USA blue collar jobs for components and assembly must far outweigh the number of corporate jobs for them back in Japan.

They may have left then, but they are back with vengeance now. Working truck rental fleets have at least a balance, but I'd say it's less Ford's and more GM's. I'd say Ford still leads for HD fleet sales, but GM 1/2 tons are far more popular with companies.

Same reason Ford's don't haul as well as the Tundra - they're tuned to be softer. Sure they have higher ratings, but the confidence just isn't the same.

Component content value far exceeds the vehicle profit made by the manufacturer. And if you desire, you can buy stock in Toyota and share in that profit.
I worked for a "big 3" owned supplier that was later spun off. We then began supplying to most all vehicle manufacturers. Toyota was by far the most dedicated to protecting jobs of the suppliers they partnered with and developed. And btw, Toyota's quality practices were light years ahead of all other manufacturers we supplied. They came in and worked side by side sharing savings and working to make sure the manufacturing system waste was continuously evaluated and removed, and reliability was never compromised in materials or manufacturing processes, even at higher cost. The domestics were quick to buy the cheapest, offshore source, and quick to implement far leading edge technologies where Toyota was very careful about implementing new technologies. Other manufacturers are trying to catch Toyota, but it's not going to happen soon based on how long Toyota has been developing the TPMS. They even share it with other manufacturers.

I drove domestic for 20 years and never had a great car/truck (except my 72 F150). When we were spun of by the BIG domestic, I was free to buy any brand and tried Toyota, never looked back.

Im curious what all these bells and whistles are I keep hearing people talk about????
What exactly can you get in a GM truck that you can't in a Tundra?

I've driven every truck from every manufacturer and I don't see much of anything you get in another product that you can't get in a Tundra.

GM has the fancy double folding tailgate. My father bought a 2021 Denali and found out the hard way that you can't have a ball in the hitch and open the tailgate cause it folds down into the damn ball...

And I’m pretty sure they’re moving the HD production to the USA soon too. Outside of the tundra, I prefer Japanese made vehicles since the quality is much better in my eyes.

I'm actually a toyota production system (TPS) engineer for a japanese owned plastic injection company that is in the toyota family. We supply mainly toyota but now do just about every manufacturer, the whole automotive industry is very interesting and so is learning all these systems that is used to produce parts at a high level of efficiency. Also get to see parts or learn about new models years in advance before the public every gets to see them or knows about them, pretty cool. Including the new tundra grill....;)
