THANK YOU!! Did not think about Candian models. I have owned 4 new Tundras (2007/2008/2013/2020) and EVERY Tundra I have ever owned/seen (5.7) was 13city/17highway.

If you are getting 19 MPG on an 18 Tundra then the 22 will get 23-24MPG. Specially since you do most of your driving downhill, with the wind at your back and apparently use Canadian gallons.

The reports I'm seeing are more people getting in excess of the 24mpg rating.

exactly. For people who want MPG as their primary concern in a full size order the Lightening, or get the 1500 GM Duramax twins, or even the F150 2.7 or GM turbo 4 2.7. I want another Tundra and improving my MPG by 25% (15 mpg to 20 MPG), as Andre said he did mixed driving a final prototype is fantastic.

    It depends on speeds.

    55-60 I can easily average 19-20
    65-75 I average 18
    75+ I average 16-17

Mountains and large hills will of course change things. Most of my driving is East Coast and I'm running the stock tires and a solid bed cover. I'm sure that when I go with larger tires mileage will drop a bit. I'm planning either 275/70's or 287/70's on the stock TRD PRO rims, and will either go with the Continental or Pirelli AT tires.

0-60 is slower on the 3.5tt and the hybrid compared to the 5.7.

This is what I found for '21 Sequoia New 2021 Toyota Sequoia Vehicles with AWD/4WD for Sale Right Now in Littleton, CO - Autotrader

Yeah, pricey. I don't keep track of "new" prices so that was a surprise, only buy used anymore. New off the lot seems like you lose 10% just by driving off the lot, then another 20% the next two years. I would only be interested in a used SR5 maybe in 2024-25 if the fuel mileage is a difference-maker and there is no growing pains. And auto 4WD like the current Gen Sequoia has. Lockers aren't necessary with a more sophisticated MTS and Crawl Control now added to 4HI.

New 2022 Lexus GX600 offered in North America has 22" wheels. 2022 Lexus LX 600 debuts with first-ever F Sport and Ultra Luxury trims - SlashGear

That's not an offroader. Hopefully for luxury SUV folks that want something that can deal with rocks the new Sequoia will have 18" wheels. Really though, either with the Tundra or Sequoia with the 6-lug there will be aftermarket 18" wheels available fast. Swap in 18's, sell the 20's on Craigslist.

I know this is the wrong site but seeing all this new tech and hybrid, I'm more excited about a turbo 4 hybrid Taco than the Tundra. Nothing against the new Tundra, it looks pretty BA. I just think the Taco will be a great fit for this hybrid turbo power train.

Do you know exactly how they drove it? Some said they were doing 0-60s. I never got 19 mpg on my stock truck, and that’s more apples to apples than your Gen 2.5 vs someone else in a Gen 3.

    I bet if I drove your Gen 2.5 I wouldn’t get 19 mpg.

If you can get better mpg combined and more power and better efficiency with a smaller engine, that my friend is insane to say the least. Yes you may get 19mpg on hwy but not everyone is going to get that. Theirs alot of factors at play for instance wind resistant, type of fuel, weight in the truck, 4wd or 2wd, double cab or crewmax..

You may have miss-understood the general point. What they are saying is 0-60 is one aspect for comparison of how well a new truck is designed and built vs others. They aren’t going to take it to the track necessarily but it’s a way to conclude how good is it, just like comparing towing numbers or payload or reliability and overall life term value and ownership. All those qualities are a measuring stick. I’m not racing my truck, but if it’s 2 seconds slower or doesn’t tow as much and costs more…. then it’s something that I will be taking into consideration. My 1st Gen is 22 years old, I have 300k of trouble free of fun on road and off road ownership. That is also a big consideration and I’m hoping that’s where the new 22 Tundra will greatly surpass the other’s. It may not be faster or tow more and I’m perfectly happy with that.

No. Someone else’s numbers driving however they were. Compared to your perfect conditions slightly downhill looking at the gauge and celebrating when you see it hit 19 mpg for a few seconds. These numbers are not factual or meaningful in anyway.

You are getting better gas mileage than 95% of Tundra owners. Probably because of the way and place you drive. If you were to drive the new truck the same way, you would expect to also get better mileage than the rest so you would probably be up in the 22-24 mpg range if not higher. Either that or you just got a unicorn.

I don’t know about a unicorn but I’m getting about what the EPA rating for the truck is. Another forum member just a few threads up also reposted similar mpg. If I’m able to achieve the 22-22mpg (EPA raring) with the 3.5TT then a roughly 2mpg gain seems like very little and rather disappointing compared to the old truck.
