That one looks like they got rid of the sloped roof towards the back of the cab, I never really liked that on the current ones

tires look like a good size

Pics from the article. Does this look like a CrewMax with a longer bed? Or is it just the angle?:monocle:29CF6A3C-BBB2-470E-A3A9-0480899806D7.jpg 62E9C3B5-5784-48D2-B4ED-D7BE51D6FDA1.jpg

I wish I remember where I had read it a while back, but I am fairly sure they stated they would release a 6ft bed with the CrewMax for this new model.
    Hope that was right.

We should know soon what it looks like. The GM’s at the dealerships have seen them.
Anyone have one for a neighbor?

Sure looks like a short bed to me. The back tire is almost at the cab...

If they added a longer bed to the Crewmax I don't think they would extend the wheelbase, would they? They'd just tack more on behind the wheel. They have tended to keep the wheel base the same.

I agree that it doesn't look like a longer bed though. It looks like a regular Crewmax.

Their competitors have two different frame lengths. In fact, the current Tundra has all the parts they need to offer a CM standard bed, so it's astounding to me that they don't.

The current tundra has two frame lengths, the longer to accommodate the 8’ bed. If they are trying to make a shared frame platform for tundras and Tacoma’s, idk if they’ll offer too many different frame lengths. :monocle:

I don't think the frames will be shared. They are going to be based on the same platform, which will mean they are going to share parts, but I doubt the frames will be the same. Look at the Challenger and the 300. Same platform, different frames. I could be wrong, but I don't see them either upsizing the Taco frame or downsizing the Tundra frame to have them shared.

I heard it would be the same frames. With a unibody construction in a car like the 300/challenger it would be impossible to share a frame, but a body on frame construction in trucks, it’s definitely doable.
    We’ll see soon enough!

Remember man we are talking about Toyota they are way more of a one size fits all type deal.

that’s why I think there is a big chance we are going to get only one engine and no options as far as that goes.

likely one bed length in crewmax, one rear end, etc

We just have to decide if what they make works for us or not. If it doesn’t your stuck since they don’t upgrade or redesign for another 15 years lol

I thought it looked a hair longer. Like maybe a 6’ bed. But it might just be the angle.

Talked to the Toyota dealership this morning where we purchased our 2016 Tundra. They will give us a call when they have ETA on new 2022 Tundras, looking forward to the call.

You may be correct...in the video my first thought was “cool they put a longer bed on the CM”. And is was before you posted your comment. And it looks like that black cover over the truck is much larger therefore making the bed look smaller.

There was a rumor that Toyota would announce the tundra during the Super Bowl.

If you see something why don’t you post it here please.

I’m looking at the Ford F150 power boost but not gonna pull the plug until I see the Toyota Tundra hybrid. If they have the same functionality I’d rather go with the tundra. Although that generator function on the power boost is really cool. I hope the tundra has something similar.

Very sharp truck. My wife of all people, the one who is all conservative on spending, saw a 1500 AT4 Carbon Pro Edition and fell in love with it. I started looking at them, already knew the platform as my father in law has a 2020 AT4 6.2 and I love it. But at the end of the day, it was $63,000 for bells and whistles. I wasn't gaining any real reliability with the truck.

    With that being said...

I am hoping Toyota really knocks it out of the park with the new gen tundra with the bells and whistles. I love my tundra, but damnit I want some of the features everyone else has in their trucks. The reliability defense I use against my buddies who have F150 platinums and AT4s is getting tiresome lol.

Tiresome? I’m counting on it. That'll mean I’ve had the same rock solid truck for a looooong time. And I’ve resisted the shiny gadgets and comforts that come with less reliability. :headbang:

That spy shot definitely looks like the bed is 6’ or 6.5’. I like that it has actual tow mirrors for the test trucks. Twin turbo v6 engine can be tuned for a lot more power :burnrubber:

Actually the Challenger , Charger and 300 all have the same frames and drivetrains, it’s only the body that’s different .
That’s why I don’t believe Consumer Reports as they list the 300 as average and the Challenger as below average . lol

Could have sworn I read that the early challengers and 300s were based on the same platform, but the challenger had a shorter frame. The current 300 might have been moved to the Challenger frame, but were they always?

As far as I know those 3 have always been the same since Daimler owned them . They’re based off the Mercedes 300 I believe .
    Edit : I meant the 500 not the 300 .

You could always go with the resale argument, like I do. . .one of my coworkers has a ram and gives me shit for my Japanese truck. . .I tell him I really wouldn't mind having one if I had twenty bucks to piss away on a used one. . Lol

I'm thinking 70k CAD. A platinum is mid-60s already here.
