What kills the Nissan XD, on paper at least, is the damn F-150 with the heavy duty frame. Although almost no F-150 have that option, it's bad optics for the XD. The Titan XD is a very heavy truck, and tows at max capacity better than any 1/2 ton, but otherwise suffers the same problem of the normal Titan, being designed by a.....uh, do I wanna get banned again?

I was thinking that, but if you look, there’s radar sensors there.

The TRD Pro starting price for the 4 runner is higher than the Tundra....The starting price on the TRD Pro 4 runner is $52,100. (2022) The starting price on the Tundra TRD Pro was $49,125. So the price of the Tundra Pro might be pretty close to the 66K on the 4 runner.

The 4 runner has always been priced a little higher than the Tundra, the starting MSRP tops out on the Tundra at $49,245. It tops out at $52,100 on the 4 Runner. Now, I do believe the Tundra had more options to push the prices higher, but you can push a 4 runner up there as well.

Driversonly on TikTok has a post of the hybrid. It’s the body off the frame showing the whole truck. Short video but dam that thing looks complicated.

A 3/4 ton truck would not cost 100K....actually, you can buy a 3/4 ton truck from all the makers of 3/4 ton trucks for about what a Tundra costs. You can buy a 1 ton as well.

I never said a 3/4 ton would cost $100,000. I said that the 5/8 ton titan HD cost just as much as a 3/4 ton so it was a bust. The $100,000 that I mentioned is what the cost would be if Toyota created a truck that met 100% of all of our wants. If they tried to please everyone, they would need a truck that had the raptor capabilities the specs of a 3/4, the inverter of the powerboost, and 25+ mpgs while still having the Toyota reliability. They created a truck that met 90% of their customers wants and needs that should still be comparable in price to the other 1/2 tons.

Anyone see any reason they wouldn't drop this exact same engine into the next Gen Tacoma/4runner? I can't think of any reason to dumb it down at all for these lighter/smaller platforms. It would get even better gas mileage due to being lighter.

With so much talk about the Sienna toyota should just throw a bed on the Sienna and it would be their #1 selling pick up. We don’t know the details and I bet the 400W is standard and maybe the 1500W is an option.

Go price out a Ford F250 in Canada - Limiteds start at $99,535. And the crazy part - there's people driving around in those crazy pricey trucks.

They are doing a turbo 4 and a hybrid 4 in those platforms. There is a chance that the Turbo 6 gets into the 4 runner as they have put the bigger engine in that platform before.

Whilst we're on the subject of ridiculous pricing for trucks, did y'all know that full size trucks are a cash cow? Turns out manufacturers make less than $1k on unibody cars, but full-size trucks and SUVs make several grand per unit. And not one person cares. Throw some leather and steer horns on a truck and people will trip on each other to pay $100k for a $50k machine....

The Titan XD with the cummins was a flop (my opinion) due to some of the things you mentioned. Truck was heavy, the diesel was underpowered (hell, the gas powered XD beat it up the Ike Gauntlet), and way overpriced. I checked on some of the pricing a year after they debut and they were more than my flippen GMC 3500. Why would someone not get the highest tow rating, HP/TQ and better everything (my opinion again).

Please don't mention the gender thing again. Last night was a soft warning, and to be honest banning people is the least favorite thing we have to do. Some of the most intelligent people I have every had to work with/know are females. Remember we have female members (that are also staff).

I totally respect where you are coming from, and I usually accept the consequences for poppin' off. No big deal.

But it's true, the 2nd gen Titan was ruined. I own a 1st gen, best truck ever (of it's time) and the 2nd gen was a let down. When I found out what the root cause was, I was not happy. I am not going to change my stance. I will try and reduce the opportunities to say something, but I know exactly why the 2nd Gen Titan failed, and why I am excited about the 3rd Gen Tundra. It's a fact, as inconvenient as it may seem!

Pretty sure poor designing by an engineer has zero correlation to gender of the engineer. Who cares about Nissans? I’m here because I own a Tundra.

I did post an apology, and depending how the PM goes...I'm sure we are fine. My mistake. So I just did a screenshot to reply to some of the good points.

    Screen Shot 2021-10-10 at 8.56.28 PM.jpg

I do 5-7 days of dispersed camping several times a year. Pretty sure that is long enough to appreciate a warm shower and soft bed. Most times, the times we go out involve snow/freezing weather. Some of us have tents, others have Softoppers, and others use hammocks which is nuts. We sometimes bring a Camp Chef. We make some killer meals on this bad boy.

    IMG_5415.jpg

This is my tent (taken today on a family outing):

    IMG_5412.jpg

Not going to lie...it sucks ass. Would a hybrid option with 1500w inverter be awesome? Hell yes. Now you have to pay for that convenience. I optioned my truck with the dual alternator 380w system for other reasons, so my 400w inverter is a joke at best. Great for charging something small. My 2014 Tacoma bed outlet was a joke as well. To be honest, as a group of guys we just don't have the need. All our cooking is done over campfire (when fire bans aren't in place) or small propane stoves. Guess we never felt the need to do anything else. Maybe we should look into that. Normally if we go out for more than 7 days in the middle of BFE (like Rangely) someone pulls doubles and someone brings a camper. I have the smallest camper at 28'.

I don't run solar systems, so no dual batteries for this guy (group). For you, it seems worth it for the comfort features you desire. I just tossed it out there as an option since Toyota did not. Complaining about it is like a rocking chair...

The camper issue. Totally get that as well. However, you can probably get back where I can't with my RV or trailers (but we have been known to surprise some people). Would it be nice to have some of these home comforts? Yepper.

For the rest of it, I only have one question. Where are you going to put it all? Microwaves, coffee pots, heaters, blenders, crock pots, etc. Hell, when I'm pulling doubles the space just isn't there. Guess I could slide some bins under the buggies or in the bed.

    IMG_2687 2.jpg

When I pull single it does open up some options with deck space.

    IMG_3832.jpg

We do this without a generator unless the RV's are going. Then they come with for obvious reasons. If I'm gonna glamp...it will be glamping at its best.

This is the route we go:

    4b4be840-77c8-43f0-80e4-467a967b1bfe_2.583f4d923511797ea0fcf745780806f4.jpg bb5ce666-787f-4125-86d7-a0817ec34602.jpg 818e1vgtDkL._AC_SL1500_.jpg 71Q2Z+hItjL._AC_SL1500_.jpg
    91Dfks9IjYL._AC_SL1500_.jpg

Does this make us more "manly" than having a 1500w inverter? No...it's just a different way. You are not wrong for wanting those things, but they just are not offered in a Tundra or GMC HD truck. So I have to make due or get a VRBO. I'm sure as hell not getting a Ford Powerboost.

Oh, the two stroke blender is funny as hell. No way in hell would I divvy up a coin to buy one, but after your second Jalapeno Margarita...you just laugh at it even harder.

High end camping for me means I took the wall tent and woodstove, complete with Coleman white gas lanterns and army cots. Roughing it is sleeping in the back of my truck in December because I’m hunting alone that trip and don’t want the work of setting up a full camp.

Once met a guy out in the mountains who had a homemade gas blender. Made it out of a 2stroke weed whacker. Used the guts of an old kitchenaid blender and matched it to the business end of the weed whacker by way of a reverse thread adapter.

we all laughed at it until it was Miller time… then we all lined up with a cup!
