So you dropped specifically #2 cylinder or the 2nd cylinder? This was diagnosed in the parking lot by opening up the hood?

Actually, pulled one with my 2WD 4runner.

And by the looks of the stock that is shipping, I might pull the tundra with this!

You mean for pulling out your stuck 2wD tundra? I think it’s a poor choice.

Whoever I get for SS is going to get a 1 clue every 3 weeks then after 6 months I'll show them a pic of it and then mail it out 3 months after that.

I will not even attempt to buy a 2022 model year Tundra. The current market is absurdly stupid right now, and I don’t need to participate in it. I can do maintenance and needed repairs on my current truck and drive it for the foreseeable future.

For those of you hard up for a new ride because your current one is no longer serviceable, you have my sympathy. You’re in a tough spot, and I don’t envy the financial hit and ass pain it will take to find a new vehicle. Unfortunately you’re going to get buried in anything you buy marked up over MSRP when inflation strangles the economy and interest rates go up to counter inflation. So be prepared to hang on to whatever you buy for a long time. Good luck.

The rest of buyers in this market who simply must get a new vehicle every 3-5 years, even though their current one is perfectly functional, are voluntarily making bad financial decisions. It’s a free country and I support your freedom to buy whatever you want as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone else, and pay as much as you want to accomplish it. Just don’t complain about paying over MSRP or cry when you end up $15K upside down in a car loan 2 years from now.

Supply isn't catching up in a few months. Look how delayed 22 model year releases are across the board. And the supply issue isn't just the chips.

No doubt, this is going to persist into late 2022 to mid 2023 at a minimum.

Those of us driving Toyota’s can probably just keep driving them and stay on top of maintenance. We will be fine.

I have a to do list on my truck that now includes a drivers side catalytic converter replacement, but that $400 part and $??? labor still beats getting raped paying $10K over MSRP just to have the new hotness. So I will have the work done and have the original brakes replaced at the same time.

Then it’s down to a new windshield, my original is rock pitted, and cracked: time for a new one.

Other stuff I can and have been doing myself. It’s strange to be in a position where I could pay cash for a new truck if I wanted to, even marked up over MSRP, but find the idea of spending money that way so odious that it makes me see red. Twenty years ago 22 year old me would have done so without hesitation, 42 year old me today will put money into a nearly 15 year old truck because it still has life left in it and I can delay gratification.

Plus I don’t give three fucks if people see me rolling in my old truck with a bit of rust on it, and think I’m poor or some shit. I used to sell BMW’s just after I got out of the USMC and got back from Iraq. I remember what the credit applications looked like for most of those yuppie turds: leveraged up to their eye balls just to maintain an appearance. Chasing an image that means nothing.

I started that car sales job at the same dealership on the Toyota trucks side (should have stayed there while selling before going to the RR), and witnessed people who were financially far more successful buying low key trucks and SUV’s trading in old low key trucks and SUV’s. More than few cash buyers who didn’t bat an eye writing that check. Unsurprisingly they also didn’t seem to be obsessed with being stylish or projecting appearances. I took that as an observational life lesson but it took a year or two being removed from the rat race for it to sink in.

Our vehicle maintenance dept hooked up a Matco diagnosis computer thing. That's what was told to me, I'm not a mechanic.
And I meant cylinder #2, not the second occurance

That's quite the generalization, don't ya think? Not everyone who chooses to trade in every 3-5 years is making bad financial decisions. Just because it's not what you choose to do doesn't make it bad. Also, if people didn't trade in frequently the market would be much worse and next time you go to buy a new one you will have to pay way more than you want

What year is it? There have been rumblings of Ford buying bad spark plug wires during this shortage. I have a feeling a lot of manufactures will be running into this this year with parts shortages.

I work in the marine industry and it all depends on the size of the boat. Smaller boats typically do not take a lot to upkeep, however large power boats take significant amount of funds to upkeep. I have owned many, many boats sometimes several at the same time. The 50’ plus ones typically required an open checkbook.

What happens when your trucks generally have no problems?

    This thread.
    Lift/tire threads.
“What’s that clunk at 6mph?” threads.
    Trans cooler threads.
    Payload threads.

There are some fantastic threads on here as well…off-roading pics, Tundras in scenic places, the knives thread, fishing, boating, dirt bikes, mountain bikes, home improvement, garages, grilling/smoking, camping, etc.

If Toyota built the new Tundra as a “lifestyle truck”, then I think they nailed us.

Does anyone know of the 2 dash boards - analog vs digital will the new Tundra still be able to start and is it still drivable ?? if the digital cluster dash goes out, a bulb or chip goes out that supports its functionality will this make the truck unusable until repaired ?
