I do like having the Pano, but it could be a problem if it lowers the ceiling too much. In other cars with sunroofs, my head hits the ceiling and that would be a problem. I also like the ability to close it off when the sun is baking me so I will probably have some ceramic tint put on it to block a lot of the heat coming in.

Any glimpse of the non crew max, standard double cab getting the power rear glass treatment? I must have a 6.5 bed... but don't need all the extra weight, cost and length of the crew max... BUT I WANT THAT PWR REAR WINDOW!

It has an automatic shade already, no need for the tint.

I think I remember someone mentioning that there was some engineering limitation in the DC that didn't allow for the power rear glass

No, double cab doesn't have the full power rear window. I can't remember where but someone said it was because the space needed for the motor and everything just wasn't doable in an already smaller double cab. Not sure if that is legit or not but it kinda makes sense.

Increased seat height from battery pack and reduced height from pano could be an issue depending on your rear passengers.

I don't like it because it is a potential failure point....it may be fine, it may not have any issues, one thing is for sure if you don't have it you will never have issues with one. Its also kind of weird for a "OFF ROAD" expedition truck. Its also a failure/fragile point when using roof racks, loading kayaks, and gear etc.

But thats me, I don't like to add potential failure points if I don't have to. Same reason I don't like my campers to have slides....

The domestics can get very confusing. Then you add a package and you have to remove other options you already added as they aren't compatible. Ford is the worst, GM is not far behind but a little better.

It makes it almost impossible to compare apples to apples pricing between trucks and to other brands.

I applaud Toyota for their simplicity.

The 2022 is going to have a million more failure points when compared to the 2021 models. If that's all you care about then I don't think the 2022 is for you.

That is not all I care about and I would not spec the truck with the pano sunroof unless I had no choice, which was what I think was the point of the pano sunroof on the pro conversation. That is would be a bummer if you had no choice but to get the sunroof if you wanted the pro. Its bad enough they are only giving you one engine choice on that one.

I used to live in AZ. I always got sunroof. When I moved to WA state, I brought that habit with me.

Big mistake in a place like the cold, slimy PNW.
All cars with sunroof have sunroof drains. In the PNW the drains get clogged with green smegma, then you get leaks. Not a manufacturing/design defect, just the way it is.

One time I was driving under a freeway overpass and a huge sheet of ice flew off of a vehicle and landed on top of my car, which fortunately had a smaller sunroof, but if it were a pano it probably would have busted it.

The sunroof in my wife's Subaru failed to close on during an unexpected downpour, close relay failed, and in newer Subarus the open/close relays are integrated into the sunroof motor assembly, so instead of replacing a relay, you have to pull the entire headliner out and buy the entire motor assembly.

My 2016 GTI needed it's sunroof assembly repaired several times because the seals rotted prematurely and the pop-up wind blocker was made of what looked like the "nylons" women wear kept getting holes in it, finally needed total replacement under warranty due to excessive creaking.

My Q60 is fine currently, but there's a defect in the forward sunroof drains where the plastic bulkhead fitting in the firewall lets go and the drain then proceeds to pour water onto your $1,200 BCM.

New Teslas, Mustang EV and previous Scion TC have had their pano roofs recalled.

Not saying Toyota hasn't avoided all these issues, but I've owned my current truck 12+ years and I don't like the idea of long-term testing a pano roof.

My 2016 Tacoma had a sunroof that rattled all the time. I took it to the dealer 4 times and had video proof of the rattling but they couldn't "recreate it" or remedy anything.

I had custom ordered that truck and loved it but traded it on on my Tundra mainly due to that annoyance... And lackluster power from the 3.5

If Toyota does in fact discourage dealers from screwing customers with dealer markup, you 2022 buyers should start a bad dealer thread and start reporting them to Toyota corporate. No clue if it does anything, but public shaming is always good.

Maybe it'll allow some of you to buy at MSRP. Maybe there are dealers that will try to approach this fairly. The Pro has historically been marked up, so I have a hard time believing Toyota isn't aware of this practice. Maybe they look the other way again for the Pro hybrid and people get screwed on that model.

I won’t purchase a 2022 with a sunroof. To many negatives for something I will never use. I also live in the northwest. How strong is that glass with 4’ of wet snow on it? Come on more double cab info Toyota..

It's a subtle difference, but that's not quite what I meant. Toyota doesn't discourage dealer markup per se, but rather springing it on you at the last minute.
The policy actually is about preventing dealers from making "customer orders" without an actual customer just so they can get the best optioned trucks for their inventory. So if a customer order truck goes into a dealers inventory then they lose two of their allocations the next month. Dealers want to avoid this happening so that's why it is unlikely they will add on ADM after the truck arrives... they don't want customers backing out of a custom order.

I also don't like sunroofs on trucks. My wife has one on her Highlander and she laughs bc I never want it open. The extra headroom lost for rear passengers is key for me as well to not wanting one. I do love it on my rs3 for some reason.

Agreed. i would never use it, and everyone i know who has one keeps it closed all the time anyway. I certainly wouldnt pay extra for one, and if i was forced to choose, i would probably pay extra, NOT to have one. Just one less thing to worry about.

The good news is it should be fairly easy to delete the camo and go with a solid black look. Even though platidip has a bad rep it wouldn't look bad and it's as cheap and easy as it gets.

Reduced headroom, increased maintenance/repairs due to equipment malfunction and leaks, increased heat gain and increased cost. I searched for a long time to find my truck without sunroof.

I'd rather have good acceleration and average fuel economy then lethargic acceleration and great fuel economy. It's also a brand new vehicle... mileage will improve with break in.

It's not really an online builder in the traditional way (domestics) more of a this is what could be possible if your dealer says to send it...lol....And depending on where in the country you are logged into the builder, you will see different options....

It's not just where you are. I've seen different options available depending on the time of year. I really think it just shows you what's currently available. Like sometimes I'll go on there to build a Pro, and they'll only give me two possible colors. Plus, the image of the vehicle they use sucks. They need a completely new one. That actually shows the options you've selected in the image.
