For some people, given their line of work, staying connected is neither a luxury nor an addiction, it's a necessity.

Yup, this is the exact position I'm in - I have to be available to answer the phone almost 24/7. Does it suck? Yup. Do I like the lifestyle that it affords me? Yup.

So can you power a 2 bank battery charger? How about a little tire pump?

Id love to get this truck and lift it 6 inches and throw some 35's or 37's on it. I know toyota probably won't do I but I thought it it was cool when I took the wife's GMC Acadia in for an oil change that the dealer installed 6in lifts there. Would love a dealer or toyota to offer it so it's covered under warranty but probably will still do it regardless but still would like it to be covered

Not complaining, but since you asked it boils down to heat and rpms. Diesel runs as much power at half the rpms. More rpms an engine makes, more heat it puts out. Also diesel is a more efficient burning fuel, which the more efficient a fuel burns less heat it produces. Since heat is enemy number 1 for turbos it makes a difference. Exhaust Temps are also lower on a diesel, which again is pertinent when talking turbos. So all this to say due to how diesels operate with less heat in every aspect, they're easier candidates for turbo. That being said even diesels can have turbos problems when super modded or even stock, just ask the 6.0 powerstroke crowd. Hope this helps.

I keep messaging Toyota for details. Damn social employees ain’t spilling it. Keep saying, colors, options, mpg, and price is being released in December.

trying to verify if the red interior is an option on TRD Pro only. Which I’m 99% sure it is.

On my two Duramaxes the turbos were the ONLY things that didn't blow up on me and need replacing :D I loved the power, hated the repair bills. And mine were not tuned to the max. In fact all my stuff broke while stock. I just replaced it with more better parts.

Oh, man! Did Toyota release this photo!? If they did, that means the new moose knuckle steering system will be on the Pro when it comes out on March 30th!

Which is why Toyota focused a lot of effort on the cooling system.
Next-level enhancements help make this twin-turbo V6 stand alone at the top of the powertrain mountain. Engineers developed state-of-the-art cylinder heads for max-boost reliability with a two-layer water jacket structure for maximum coolant flow and combustion chamber strength and then added machined cross-channels for additional combustion chamber cooling. Low-profile, laser-applied powder-metal intake valve seats enhance the intake port efficiency and allow maximum coolant flow close to the spark plug.

Exhaust cooling starts with the computer-optimized exhaust valve shape and is further enhanced by the integrated exhaust manifold and cylinder head design that uses the same water jacket to lower exhaust gas temperature entering the turbochargers to further improve reliability and performance.

The cylinder heads themselves have machined cross-channels to allow coolant to flow through them laterally to provide additional cooling to the combustion chambers. This also contributes to cylinder head reliability and operating efficiency. The exhaust valves’ shape has also been optimized to enhance cooling performance.

Sounds good to me, but it's obvious there is no aux trans cooler. Mr Truck's video, painful as it was to watch, showed there is no aux trans cooler.

With a 10-spd autotrans is it necessary? I worry about things like this.

For sure I don't disagree with the r and d they put Into it , and the specs look good with all that, but no matter what they do it will still run less efficiently and hotter than a diesel equivalent which was the original question. Not saying it will be a bad engine or bad turbos, but also don't know we will see a million mile tundra anymore with a ttv6 either. Hope I'm wrong though, I like the idea if they can make it work. I'll just be on the sidelines for a few years until we start seeing some miles being reported

I saw that awesome commercial, too. I tell ya, if someone did a watered down version of this TRD Pro Nascar Race Truck, they'd sell like hotcakes. Maybe detuned a little, speed-limited to 150, but lowered/roll bar/aero features/single cab. If they could build 1 they could build 100, eh? People would pay a shit-ton of money to have one in their garage.

What exactly does "Trans Cooler" mean in this context? We all know that 19-21's call the puck assembly a cooler and previously they were called an Auxiliary Trans Cooler, so which one is it exactly? Still searching for a pic of an actual Aux. bolted to the front of a 22. Anyone?

He said aux trans cooler meaning a stand alone...most likely we are getting a cooler that shares with the radiator.
i would say yes, tfl had a video with the silvy that i think had the newer 10spd and it overheated, i think andre overheated his ford f150 as well. Keeping things cool is always a good thing when towing.

That's the key, Toyota is good at playing with words to try and make something towards there advantage when in actuality its not.

The TOYOTA letters on the dash of the Pro is bad ass IMO.

I've always found these tests dumb, i don't know why manufacturers think it's impressive to tow a weight like this. Strongmen pull 44 ton planes with a harness for heaven's sake lol.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xGIjlK1nSs.

The tests we really want to see (the enthusiasts i should say), are the towing tests done like on TFL, which are similar to the SAE J2807 tests.

Agreed that's a retarded towing test and in no way showcases the trucks actual ability. The TFl test are much more accurate to how an actual owner will use the truck and shows the trucks strengths and weaknesses. Cant wait to see how much this thing squats with the 12k siting on the hitch..shes squatting in the video and that has that long bar and that semi truck displacing the weight for it.

Back to the inverter/generator situation, I think it is a bit disappointing. Something somewhat powerful and wired with the right AWG that would provide juice with the ignition off would be super helpful for the weekend camping with the family, or 3 week Baja road trip, or weekend project to power tools, etc. I was pretty psyched to have the inverter in my Tacoma but maybe used it 2-3 times, just wasn't practical the way it worked. You can always come up with aftermarket solutions but it's time and money, I have a little bit of one but not much of the other...

But back to the point several have made, probably not many buyers concerned with these things and the ROI is not worth it.
