Sorry if this has already been discussed, I haven't been keeping up with this thread.
Is that bullshit? Or are the really bringing back the regular cab?

I said it’s an edited picture and some people are wondering what would it look like and the answer: most probably not gonna happen. Toyota killed off the single cab long time ago and it will be a big surprise if they return the single cab to 3rd Gen.
    Thanks

Maybe it will look better in person but every time I see the screen in the new 2022 and how it's almost incorporated into the vents all I see is a big belt buckle .

Nope. The single cab is dead. Kind of a bummer, because that looks really good.

While I agree on it's looks, I actually need the temperature controlled cab space of my CM. I've hauled children of friends, groceries, pets, and light weight cargo inside so often that I don't think I would even be willing to downsize to the DC. I've never needed anything more than the CM bed except when hauling stuff that an 8 foot bed wouldn't hold either, so I have a utility trailer.

I know what you mean. I downsized to a regular cab from a CM. Daughter has a suv and the wife has a crew cab for hauling horses. So I figured we didn't need three vehicles with four doors. it was the chance for me to have the RCSB I've always wanted. Couldn't be happier

    Nice win for you!

One vital question: What kind of roll down/sliding rear window does a RC get?

I don't like their big screen either. There is a smaller one that I, personally, would opt for. I'm ok with the side to side, but I absolutely HATE the screens that stick up and look like a low grade PC monitor bolted in as a "good enough" measure to get inches on a stat sheet. I hate it in their cars and SUVs too. I Love the Camry style, and the "dad fast" V6 versions would be ideal commuters for somebody that doesn't want to feel like their car is completely gutless. The screens in them kill me. It's nothing to do with the function, as everyone I have seen comment on them says you get used to it and don't even notice it in your field of view. That's fine. It still looks like shit from a purely aesthetic POV. It looks like they ran out of dash and just left the top unfinished.

By contrast, look what Kia did in the Telluride. It sticks up, but it got it's own trim piece. It looks planned and intentional, rather than like a haphazard oversight.

Tell me that isn't a better looking interior.

The 22' tundra looks much better with the smaller screen. It's been almost like that was the original plan and they took so long getting it out that they then had to stuff the larger one in it and well the end result is something that looks like they made due with.

I love the idea but those doors are not nearly long enough if past design is any indication.

yeah i wouldnt be doing 80 on a gravel road. no way you are going to control that vehicle in a panic stop or if any emergency comes up or you hit a bad spot of washboard. pretty much sure you will slide right into the ditch or roll over.

but hey thats your call, but personally i wouldnt do 80, heck 55 is pushing it for me going to/from fishing spots and all we have is farmers out there.

the reason toyota went with the upright design is to minimize the sun glare. our 2018 is to the point where we cant use the backup camera at all for anything due to sun glare, and add polarized sunglasses and its like the screen is off.

even my 2014 4runner screen is hard to see during sun glare and its smaller and more angled than the 2018 tundra.

i am glad they went to a more upright design.

Probably too light, your jeans will turn the edge of the seat faded blue.
The darker saddle color won't though.

I'm 100% fine with the idea of an upright design. I don't like Toyota's execution. I thought I made that clear in the post. Look at the Kia one in the original post you quoted. I like that. It looks finished and intentional.i even said that my objection wasn't with the function, but the unfinished look. Not sure where I wasn't clear.

i completely understand, but imo i rather have the upright function than the aesthetics. but thats just me. after dealing with my 2014 4runner, 2016 tacoma and the 2018 tundra anything will be an improvement.

the sun glare is horrible up here in ND for some odd reason. prob cause we are so far north i am guessing here.

You're missing my point so badly that I'm beginning to think I'm being trolled.

Function and form aren't mutually exclusive. NOBODY is saying the function is bad here. Just saying they could have had the upright antiglare AND made it look like a finished product.

Case in point, Kia Telluride is upright and looks good.

Sun glare isn't unique to ND or it's latitude, so not sure what you're getting at.

Anyway, I'm done with this. As a favorite shirt of mine says "I can explain it to you, but I cannot understand it for you."

I was hoping that was going to be a deeper richer type of brown. Looks orangish like the original 1794. Was hoping for something more like the darker saddle leather that is in the King Ranch or High Country trims.

Here’s the smaller screen for those who don’t know. In my opinion, It’s almost looks similar to 2021 Tacoma interior. I rather have the big screen and enjoy the wireless Apple CarPlay.
