I got my lunar rock at msrp. A few in Dallas were $68k and I said hell no. Followed up before finding mine and they were sold.

They aren’t making 2021’s anymore. If you want one over paying for it makes sense. They are supposed to crank out the new tundra 18k per months. The supply should be there to keep prices down. Relax.

Saw the 22 in person today at the State Fair. It’s a nice truck. Doesn’t really move the needle much for me compared to a 21 and I was expecting it to. The truck seems more rectangular than square design wise if that makes sense. The trucks were prototypes so I could not get into them. I reluctantly have to admit the Tremor design was more to my liking.

New guy here. really intrigued by this new Tundra. Looking for something more reliable than my 2020 GM.
Trying to figure out the trims. I am disappointed that the TRD Pro does not come with a 6.5' bed, therefore somewhat looking at the Limited.
Does the Limited TRD Off Road trim come with all the options listed in the regular Limited trim? and can it be had with the 6.5' bed?
    thanks

The TRD Off Road package is an add on to whichever trim (SR5, Limited or 1794) so you should get all the base features of that trim plus whatever is in the TRD OR package.

Tremor has been on my list as well as the Rebel. Problem with the Tremor is property optioned it's almost pushing Raptor pricing which is absurd. Granted the Tremor can actually do more "truck" things but to be within 3-5k of a Raptor and get a substantially inferior suspension, looks, interior, etc. is a bit hard to swallow.

I looked at a Tremor for 15 seconds. As soon as I realized the Tremor is only available as 5.5' bed, no longer interested.
It is a very appealing truck (Ford issues aside)

When you start to option out a Tremor, you enter Raptor territory easily. Like you said she’ll out the extra for the raptor. Better motor, better suspension, better looks.

Tremor seats have the orange in them and that factory rake is bad.

JJ, you might find every factory trimmed offroad enthusiast vehicle that way. It goes beyond just offroad trims though as the 21 F150 in their top "LIMITED" trim also has no choice but a 5.5' bed. I don't like it either but when you come right down to it, a hard core, rock crawling off road enthusiast would have a custom Jeep. Those folks might even secretly snub their noses at the Rubicon. A full size pickup is a joke to a hard core offroader anyway ... it would be like a WWE wrestler in an MMA match. The moderator here with that awesome video of that Jeep climbing straight up in Colorado knows what I'm talking about.

Are you quoting 18k a month based on the engine output article?

The overall supply might be there but certain options and trims won’t. Not only will it be expensive base price, once you start competing with others on that sacred list, it can’t get pricey.

best bet is to find a gem. Big Toyota dealer in a low population area.

Full size trucks can be very hardcore, but it takes a lot to get them there.

My 1st Gen Tundra would put most Jeeps and the like to shame off road, matter of fact it held it's own with the big dog rock buggies, but it took some heavy modification to get it there....

I was also referring to the sheer size difference. Some of those trails are narrow and there's nobody out there (except the users themselves) trimming branches and brush that will shred the sides of a full sized pickup in one pass. Of course not an issue on wide open trails or dunes and such. I've done a little offroading in AZ and CO and there's no way I would take a full sized pickup on any of those trails!

They're going to have to stop calling that a long bed. It's a standard bed.

We never ran dunes or open places, we basically ran every hardcore trail in the country, from The Rubicon all the way to the UP of Michigan and everywhere between.

But like I said, it took a lot of modification and you couldn't be worried about some dents and dings.....but to your point, we were the exception.

    Let's see.......they gave me exactly:

Five free 40" BFG MT KO2's
One free Hobart 180 Handler mig welder
    One free Warn 9500 winch
One free PSC high pressure TC steering pump
And two free TV spots on Petersen's Off-Road Magazine's Ultimate Adventure runs

So I'd estimate it at around $10k worth of torque on that particular trip, then they got peeled off until next time.

And with 132:1 crawl ratio you make torque your bitch anyways :D

If they are going to sell more annually than the current model the 18K is believable, currently with an annual sales rate of around 120 annually give or take, they are having to build around 10K. While 216-220K a year is hopeful, its not absurd, and considering their sales should be strongest the first couple of years, 18K per month might not be too far off if they have capacity. I saw a figure of 350K from that factory somewhere, the Sequoia sales (10K in 2019) are not that strong so it doesn't rob too much from the tundra build numbers.

Agree about almost all trucks with off-road chops are short bed crew cabs. I think it's mostly due to people stretching their budget so much that they need a truck that can fit in most garages and replace their SUV or sedan.

I always research every trail before I go on it with my current FS truck. We use the truck as much as we can off-road, and love it being FS when it's time to camp, we use sleep in the bed (with a Leer cap) but the current truck is only 5'-7" bed, so I am looking at a Tundra SR5 DC with TRD Off Road, which should be a similar off-road worthy dimensionally as our current truck. Many times we are the only truck on a trail, everything else is ATV/UTV or Jeeps....but I always research to make sure I am pretty confident the truck will make it. So far, it always has. Not interested in anything more extreme, that costs way too much money!

The new Tundra really ticks the right boxes for me. They now offer locking rear diff on a whole range of truck models! I doubt the 8.1 bed will get a TRD option, but being able to get TRD with locker on the DC and CM 6.5 bed is very appealing to me.

FS truck may not be the best off-road, but I can definitely get a FS truck into a bunch of places where a locker just makes things a little less stressful.

I get the overall build goal is that, but real world output is probably less. They've held their cards tight so far so we'll see how well that global production cut helped with chip re-allocation to launch the Tundra.

there wasnt a problem to fix, it was a matter of how the seats were attached to the rear. the mounts points are different on a crew max than a double cab. if you watch the aftermarket videos of adding storage pods to the crew max you will see how the install is completely different for a crew max than a double cab. even if you find a double cab upgrade to replace the oem storage, they also say this will NOT fit a crew max cab.
