Every model except the pro would better color matched imo

lets start the grill swapping club and help each other out lol.

If I go, I’ll be on a platinum color match mission . Kinda like last time

I read just TRD OR and TRD PRO but I'm not sure how official that is.

But they didn't lengthen the bed so did they really put it to good use?

It looks so so low compared to the current generation. Is this just how it looks in photos or is it really that much lower?

Yea I read the same, with the exception the Off Road package can be added to SR5 and above trims.

Honestly..... That base level SR looks really good. I never cared for the basic SR wheels. No chrome or gaudy bumpers or badging on that truck. That is a really sharp looking truck minus the wheels. That truck would look amazing with some black TRD Pro take offs. The black rims would flow well with the black grill.

I admit, I like higher trims and buy them, but if I was looking at lower level GM and Ford's, that would be the winner for sure.

I hope Toyota can keep that SR in the $38k price range or so......

Crazy how the lower trim with color matching and blacked out make it look better then the upper trims. That one is for some reason had a heavy Tacoma influence to me within the cab section.

The only thing I'd fix is a TRD Pro grille swap with the light bar. I wonder if the light bar could be optioned on? Can't wait for the build configurator to open.

yup grill has to go on that truck

I was thinking lower trim color match black insert. Don’t want the lightbar and marker lights.

Light bar, That won’t be an option on the platinum though, no way

I work for a Japanese company that has an all Japanese leadership team. I am fully aware of the "unique" way in which their culture works. It is extremely frustrating at times, and also extremely rewarding at times.

Dave is so stereo-typical of what I work with.
He posted a video, something to the effect of "Engineer gives 11 reasons why it is safe to buy 2022 Tundra"

While I fully agree that on average Toyota does a better job with the reliability aspect of things, they aren't immune to defects and issues.
One reason he gave was "Toyota has been building prototypes and test vehicles for at least a year already so really 2022 is like the 2nd year for the Tundra."
I laughed. So, evidently no other manufacturer builds prototypes and tests them for a year prior to releasing the new models.

He is accurate with much of his pre release information, but some of his Toyota bias is just irritating to listen to.

I am guilty of my bias at times too, so I understand. I am not trying to act all innocent or "better than" here, just pointing out some poor logic

I heard in the TFL video they said it was shorter than the previous model. Which I am going to wait and see, but I don't think I will like that. The size of the cab is one reason why I bought the Tundra in the first place.

By shorter I think they mean it is lowered vs the older model, not that the cab itself is shorter.

According to Mat (OVtune/Vftuner), we will have “day one support” in Vftuner for the 2022 Tundra. I plan to buy one of the first ones and tune it. Then trade it in on a Pro in the spring and tune it. Hopefully he is right and we won’t be locked out.

This right here. There is NO substitute for the millions of miles that will be put on all the first year of production vehicles. All climates, grades, drivers, cargo, etc.

There is no way Toyota can simulate that.

I wish the best for Toyota. But if anyone thinks this more complex twin turbo V6 doesn't have a chance to be more failure prone than the old powerplant I think that would be a mistake. And even more so for the Hybrid.

About 2x times as many places for intake leaks, exhaust leaks, oil leaks, etc. More sensors, more controls, more moving parts that can wear, higher cylinder pressures, higher dynamic loads on internal components, higher underhood temperatures, lower life of underhood plastic components, etc.

Toyota made their decision. I hope it was a good one.

This is coming from a DC owner that chose a DC over CM because of no kids so wanted the bed space over unneeded cab space. With the CM 6.5 what is the market for DC's now? Other than the small market for the 8ft bed or slight lower price is there any reason to chose a DC anymore.

To me, the advantages of a DC is same bed space for a lower price and better turning radius.

Actually, I think the DC's look better too, but that is just my worthless opinion..

I can have a shorter truck with a 6.5’ bed. And I don’t need giant rear seating plus will likely save money with the dc.

8 foot box is a must have for commercial and fleet customers. I worked pretty hard to get my DCLB SR5 and I owned a Ford version since 1998. I'm not a commercial customer but the DC meets my cab needs and I actually have a usable bed even with a 22" Weatherguard toolbox in use.

You're right most people don't want one but if you don't have a HD line I don't see how you could seriously offer a truck to commercial customers without an 8 foot box option.
