Press release for what? They gonna give a public apology for taking so long to produce such a mediocre and ugly truck?

No you're not. LOL I get that we're all fanboys but good Lord I've never seen this much griping. Did anyone actually think that Toyota would give us everything we needed AND everything we wanted?

Same. I'm 45, and blessed in that I'm one of those guys who heals freakishly fast...but I've also had several minor surgeries under my belt and while I don't at all live in any sort of pain, I can sort of tell when a big thunderstorm or something is coming. The older you get the more you appreciate stuff like step bumpers and such.

    From Toyota's website:
Next-level enhancements help make this twin-turbo V6 stand alone at the top of the powertrain mountain. Engineers developed state-of-the-art cylinder heads for max-boost reliability with a two-layer water jacket structure for maximum coolant flow and combustion chamber strength and then added machined cross-channels for additional combustion chamber cooling. Low-profile, laser-applied powder-metal intake valve seats enhance the intake port efficiency and allow maximum coolant flow close to the spark plug.

Exhaust cooling starts with the computer-optimized exhaust valve shape and is further enhanced by the integrated exhaust manifold and cylinder head design that uses the same water jacket to lower exhaust gas temperature entering the turbochargers to further improve reliability and performance.

The cylinder heads themselves have machined cross-channels to allow coolant to flow through them laterally to provide additional cooling to the combustion chambers. This also contributes to cylinder head reliability and operating efficiency. The exhaust valves’ shape has also been optimized to enhance cooling performance.

Sounds like he was just looking for some things to complain about at times.
I'm curious if the tow hooks are just missing due to it being preproduction. I would hope that they didn't remove the tow hooks.
Looks like there is going to be an automatic folding step that lowers when the tailgate lowers, not sure if that is an option or if it will be standard.

Just turned 47 myself, and after 2 knee, 1 shoulder, 1 shoulder dislocation, 1 wrist, 1 elbow surgery....I know how you feel.

In my much younger version of myself, slipping off a 3/4 ton dodge rear bumper was not good. Glad we bounce under 30 years old.

That was it?!?! I could have read all of that on their website... sigh. When will we get pricing and fuel economy numbers? When will it be available for ordering? Which models/configurations are we getting in December and which won't come until March? Come on Toyota! You've kept us waiting long enough!

Yeowch. Most of my surgeries are self-inflicted:

    - 2005 - L5/S1 microdiscectomy
    - 2006 - carpal tunnel release to both hands
    - 2007, 2008 - shoulder acromioplasties (to remove bone impinging on shoulder nerve)
    - 2010 - ankle ligament reattachment
    - 2012, 2015 - redo's of 2007-2008 surgeries
    - 2014 - right biceps tendon reattachment

Thankfully, none of them limit me. In fact, my right arm is *stronger* after the biceps tendon reattachment. (Has to do w/how they reattach it.) But I used to scoff at seat warmers. Now? I don't need them but I appreciate them more. LOL

Well slap me silly and call me Sally. That would be a pretty good option! I can see it being helpful with the tailgate up. Down...not so sure. The picture angles might be deceiving though.

Thanks for the heads up though. You all are a wealth of knowledge.

In the podcast with Mike Sweers, he said they would not be releasing the mpg numbers until they are certified by the government and they are in the middle of that process right now.

Thanks... yeah I heard that, but does anyone know when that interview actually took place? Could have been a few weeks ago, but they only lifted the embargo on Sunday, right?

This is one of my main needs for a truck, is a way to get into the bed without having to take a step ladder with me everywhere. I broke both of my knees playing soccer when I was younger, let them heal without surgery and I am paying for it now, it is difficult to stand up and sit down sometimes, much less take that big step into the bed of a truck.

What do you consider a wear bearing? A crank or piston bearing isn’t considered a wear bearing. There are wear sleeves which I use in my industry a lot. Every bearing in an engine rides in fluid film. And you do get mechanical wear no matter what. If you didn’t have any mechanical wear them the engine, including the turbo, would never ever have to be rebuilt. Everything eventually fails for one reason or another.

Actually I usually add a bit of cream - mainly because navy style coffee was rough. (Acid reflux)

Funny story...so when I was in the Navy, my then-girlfriend (now wife of almost 20 years) sent me quality coffee. I worked in combat systems and my job was such that I regularly worked with and interacted with the flag admiral, CO of the USS Enterprise and other ships, etc.

Anyways...their intelligence briefings were held right next to where I worked. When I started making the coffee, the flag admiral, joint task force Army/Marine guys, etc. would give me crap for that 'foo foo sh*t.'

Fast forward a month. I'd make a pot, yell "foofoo" and hear "Meeting adjourned" and watch 1-stars and a bunch of full bird colonels and captains literally punch, kick and push their way to be first in line for the coffee.

Right, these bearings don't fail by themselves. No oil pressure will kill them instantly, yes, but in turbo engine usually something else dies much earlier.

Then no bearing should ever fail by themselves is what your saying. Unless it’s a lack of lubricant.

14 years and they came up with a crap spring loaded rear step?
Toyota really missed a few steps with the design.
