Personally believe the MSRP will become the new wholesale price going forward and you'll be happy to get one for that.

nope, since the mods are usually on the tacoma forums and 4runner forums also, think they are all the same.

i mean they stopped the 5th gen 4runner at 2017 even though we are still on the 5th gen. they started a 6th gen forum that starts at 2019.

who knows, the market flows back and forth, supply and demand. if gas prices continue to go up, prices on big ass trucks will come down, etc.

for me, Im in a great position, my 2016 is tits and only has 70K miles on it and is paid off, therefore, I'm in no rush. on the other side, if I like this new truck and decide to get one, I can do it on my own timeframe.

I would never ever put a deposit down on this new tundra before I get to see the actual truck and drive it. Im not sold yet that I even want a turbo 6 in a truck so I have to drive this thing. Plan B is the refreshed AT4 6.2 GMC, I like those too. I think as much as I want and like the powerboost with the generator, Im going to continue to pass on ford.

I may sell it on here when the time comes, Ive had several members ask me to give them a chance at it first.

    just all my .02.

Depends on the trim. For those looking at a TRD Pro MSRP is basically what they go for. Pre-covid if you got a TRD Pro at MSRP that was a deal. If you got $1k off a TRD Pro consider yourself extremely lucky. I agree, other trims I wouldn't want to pay MSRP for but that seems like eons ago. I'm guessing for the next 18-24 months vehicles will be sold at no less than MSRP.

I have 0 interest in the Pro, but your correct for those that like that, they get a premium, which at least for the current gen I never understood.

but hey, Im glad they made it, I got to upgrade my platinum with all the pro color matched parts and grill, handles, etc, HA!

Yeah, I wasn't exactly sure what SR5s are going for in today's market. Mine has the Upgrade Package and was $45k CAD (~$38k USD) but obviously everything is more these days.

All the articles will come out on Monday, so there should be plenty of photos and info.

I bet the specs are great. Problem will be if the truck is ugly like those red ones.

Unfortunately, the specs will probably not be that detailed, and will say something like “up to 2,000 lbs payload and 13,000 lbs towing”. What I really want to know is what the door sticker will be on a Platinum Hybrid, and if it will be more than the current gen Platinum.

I’m thinking the increased payload from aluminum panels and high strength steel and maybe even a composite bed will be offset by the weight of the hybrid motor and battery.

The silver plastic fu manchu mustache around the grill of the non-TRD Pro models is unbearable for me, I'll need to consider what it'll take to get rid of that, OEM part from a different trim level, aftermarket or painted by a body shop......

I'm with you. I think the Pro could be nice, but prices will be stupid and people will be lining up.

And what about my DD V8 growl? I'm supposed to give that up? I'm hoping to be left unimpressed with the Pro so I can sit tight with my 2018. I don't need a new truck.

Then it shouldn't matter what they do with the reveal. I'm in the same boat. I don't need one, so I just get to have the joy of seeing new stuff, but not having to buy it means no stress.

Apologies are needed to the member who looked at the phone in the interior photo release and made the assumption the release would be made on 9/19. He caught a lot of crap for that.

I'm actually looking forward to the new TTV6 being quiet, my V8 truck just seems to get louder as I get older....

The only time crap was given for that was when it was being said as fact, when it was a guess. It happened to be correct, but that doesn't justify stating it as fact without confirmation. That member can now feel vindication that they were correct in their assumption, at least.

The reveal matters because after this long, I don't see the exterior styling changing much. So if it's not sexier than my 2018, and my 2018 is sexy, I probably won't ever get one. I'm petty and my black trucks have to look nice from the outside.

It will be fun to see what Toyota came up with after all these years. Like I said, I think the specs will be great but they could have screwed up the exterior styling.

Even if the 2022 Tundra ends up being spectacularly good, I would see no reason a guy with a 2018 Tundra would be considering a 2022 from a “need” perspective. You’ve got a nice reliable, well proven 1/2 ton that is only 3 years old. No way I would personally trade it in on a 2022, even if the 2022 is better in every measurable way.

You’re in a perfect spot right now:

1.) Your current truck is still pretty new and potentially still under warranty. No worries, no stress!

2.) With no pressing need to buy a new truck (assuming you don’t have to for business or tax purposes), you can avoid this idiotic car/truck market until it settles down.

3.) In another year or two if you like the looks of the new Tundra your current truck is still in good shape and will still be a good trade or private party sale.

4.) Cooling your jets for a year or two and letting others pay scalper prices for 2022’s, and beta test them means you don’t have to! Let the self anointed cool kids put up with financial pain, and possible service/recall hassles.

I know. I have 24k miles and a trans cooler. I'm sitting pretty. I'm in no rush.

I've also spent the last three years buying shit for my truck. It would be terrible to start again.

Yeah, I'm sitting at almost 120k miles on a 2011... but, I might hold off till the spring, hopefully things will settle down a bit by then as far as the build and supply/demand goes. It's time. This truck is running great, but time to step to the next one.

Nope. Never was planning on buying this truck. It being ugly (red limited) just solidified my thought process. Toyota dragging this out was not cool and they deserved all the criticism they got.

I'm interested in potentially switching over to a new gen Sequoia.

    Stock for now

That's kind of where I'm sitting too. After 30 yrs of driving pickups, it might getting time to switch over to an SUV. Just keep in mind that stylistically, what you seen on the Tundra will carry over heavily into the 2023 Sequoia.

You won't until there is 500 pages of bitching and moaning about the new Sequoia and how long it took to release it. And then another 500 pages about how ugly it is because they took the new Tundra and added a topper to it and charged you an extra 20 grand.

    Plastidip.
I want to see the specs so I can extrapolate to the new Sequoia. Then I'll let early-adopters Beta test the drivetrain for me (I'm selfish that way). Then maybe get a used Seq when the '19 wears out. My daughter drives the '19 Seq and she piles up about 24k miles per year on her vehicles. The SR5 was from a rental fleet wholesaled out, I figure SR5 Seq's will get the same treatment 4-5 years down the road and by then I'll know enough to judge if the new platform is the way to go.
Same here. Current gen Seq is great, huge cargo capacity, rolldown rear window, 1300lb cargo weight, IRS, Torsen center diff for full-time 4WD. Has 2WD, full-time 4WD with center diff lock for a 50/50 torque split, and 4LO.
Sequoia will have a similar front end like the Tundra. I bet they keep the enhanced drivetrain like the current gen Seq. Current Seq has the Torsen center diff on all trims, same as the Land Cruiser. Great 4WD system.
