Depends on your definition of nothing. There's been some pics a few days ago. The red ones that are kind spy shots. Have you seen those?

Has anyone spied the ZR2 in camo doing extensive testing? When will it actually be available for purchase? Q3 2022?

I am willing to forgive and accept and even prefer the slow drip of the Tundra knowing that it will actually be available. And tested. And reliable WHEN IT HITS DEALERS.

All Chevy dropped was marketing. Just like the Bronco. Just like the Hummer. Just like the Lightning.

It's not a new drivetrain, so that wouldn't require extensive testing. There have been test mules seen in camo.

I'm done giving proactive but historically unreliable manufacturers a free pass on reliability because their trucks have more features and look cool. That's silly logic. Trucks are in the shop constantly to stay operational. Toyota has hundreds of thousands of purchasers because tons of soccer moms and dads aren't going to put up with spiffy looking, powerful vehicles with terrible reliability. They sell well but are unrelaible.

Vehicle reliability has been neglected and pushed off. You want to make excuses for any criticism sent others' way because they update everything but historical reliability, good for you. I expect better.

    :p

I'm obviously goofing around, and I do get your point....but when you've bought vehicles from the competition and have been let down numerous times - and by 'let down' I mean stuck in the middle of literal nowhere in the dead of winter - and when Toyota has NEVER let me down in that aspect....yes, reliability is one HELL of a big deal for a lot of people. I sure as hell want Toyota to update and challenge the competition, to be the 'world beater' that some guy claimed it could be...but at the cost of reliability? No.

Tundra fans (those in this forum) are not necessarily the focus of Toyota's marketing strategy for the 2022 Tundra. Sure, we're keyed into it and from your stand point it looks slow and cumbersome. But Toyota isn't necessarily worried about 'our' point of view when it comes to their marketing strategies. Perhaps they have a larger audience to capture? The average Joe on the street probably isn't even aware that a new Tundra is about to be released. So probably after Sept 19 (or whenever it is announced) you'll see a slew of youtube and tv commercials just like in 2007. THAT's when the vast majority will know. And they never will have even known Toyota was 'slow' to roll it out.

I did. I made my comment that the red trucks did nothing for me and have been patiently waiting for more leakage. I thought today could be the day but instead it was just a couple pages about Chevy.

This is probably the best post in this thread. Like it or not, we're all fanboys here. LOL I mentioned the updated Tundra was forthcoming and I got a ton of "....wait. You're serious. Really? I had no clue!"

The ratios you found with the LC seem very reasonable. And I'd expect 4Lo to be very similar ratio as the current model is - somewhere in the 2-3:1 range. F350 diesels are in the 18.9 ratio for their 1st gear total ratio (4.615 1st, 4.10 rear end).

You're highlighting the importance of the transmission in the calculation of ratios. Put a 3.23 rear end and you'd be in the 5.11 1st gear range, go for a 4.30 rear end and you're down to a 3.84 1st gear for the same total ratio of 16.5.

It's why I chuckle when someone says 'they'll be out if it has a 3.23 rear end'. How do you know a 3.23 won't be torquey as hell in 1st? Could easily put a super short 1st gear in it to make up for the smaller rear end. If it's the same transmission then rear end makes a difference, but an all new combo a 3.23 rear end could still do very well towing if the transmission has the right gears to make up for the rear end.

It doesn't make sense to me that someone would leave their Tundra to get into a new Ford. It would be such a letdown and you're setting yourself up to be disappointed.

He was one of the unlucky few that had some issues with his Tundra, so I can understand wanting to try something new. We all learn in our own time.

Ah. Well, honestly, the big reveal is going to show up in a lot of places before it shows up here. Follow Toyota on their social media and you'll be more in the loop than what this thread is going to provide.

And then two pages later it will have the pictures again, and then two pages later it'll have the pictures again, and then a week later someone will post "Not sure if this is real or just slipped under the radar, but look at these pictures I just found!", and they'll be the same pictures that were posted originally.

Several thousand (!!) posts ago, a leaked photo was shown that had Toyota's next gen release timeline for several models, including the Tundra.

They're right on schedule. Everyone here whining about the release is "taking too long" or saying that "Toyota dropped the ball" is conveniently ignoring the fact that Toyota is right on the schedule they said they'd be on a long time ago.

I'm in the minority, but I don't want more tech. My 2018 has a bunch of tech that I never use and have no clue how to use. My knee will hit something, a light will turn on, and then I'm scrambling to find a button I can't really see. Granted, I'd take some lockers.

I've never bought a vehicle with a sunroof because I know I'll never use it and why add something unnecessary that might fail. Get off my lawn.

Without breaking out the ole calculator it sounds like if the transmission is close to the spec of the new LC it may crawl a little better than my old one did up boat ramps. Doubt I will be able to tell the difference. Hoping to get a little more on the low end than the competition but we will see...

I think the ram screen still looks the best of the big screens, followed by that new chevy screen, then Toyotas. Ford's is last cause it isn't even very big

Taco was refreshed (not a new gen) more than that? I'd have to search.

The tech stuff - Lexus, Hylander, Rav4 etc... the bread and butter of Toyota all have this good tech. It's not the deciding factor as many to include you directly relates to a vehicles reliability. It's the quality of the build, not the actual components being built. So no, a simple truck is not the reason shit works. It's cause they build shit to work.

Your truck didn't have to wait 6 years for freaking apple car play to be blessed by baby Jesus to work. They just didn't put it in your truck til 2021. That's LAZY and shows their lack concern. Hylander and Rav4 don't get blown off like that. To @JuicyJ point, ots cause they selling billions of those and not many Tundras.

My last point is the laziness of this release. They are dragging their feet, much like they drag their refresh for this platform. It's all one big tease of "maybe later". And for whatever reason today in particular I got a little annoyed with it all.

Everyone keeps saying all these things they want. I want a square body with reliable drivetrain, I want to shift it myself, I want airbags and crumple zones, and CarPlay. I wouldn’t mind decent mpgs and maybe, maybe, collision avoidance. But honestly, all the extra tech makes me distracted.

Yup. I like tech. The tech I like is more power, bigger brakes, beefier trans, better suspension, lockers and maybe some AC’d seats that actually work.

People get SO tied up in “super cruise”, stupid lights in the mirrors when a car is next to you, bigger screens, auto/start stop blah blah. First thing I look for when a rental car has that shit is where to turn it off.

These are all clickbait talking points that get repeated over and over by rags and youtube “reviewers”. Same worthless shit as “retuned” shocks and new decals for the next model year, when reality is nothings changed… But plenty of suckers out there I guess for manufacturers to take from.
