I hope your right, having that as part of the bedside would suck. Where are you seeing the seam? From the taillight corner downward? Or from under the taillight across to the fender flare?

Just as I expected, from post https://www.tundras.com/threads/2022-tundra.76839/page-400#post-2396182. All of these journalists will have an embargo until the reveal date. This is a marketing tactic to flood the automotive market and channels with as much Tundra info as much as possible on the day of the 19th. Just like they did for the Sienna.

Horizontal from wheel well opening, meets the body line and follows it diagonally to the lower corner of the tail lamp.

You’re now the second person who thought I was talking about the truck on the left. It’s blatantly obvious to me that is a double cab. My last sentence in that post should have told y’all I was talking about the one on the right with the larger crew cab and shorter bed. Maybe I wasn’t very clear? :notsure: All I’m saying is that truck on the right looks more like a standard crew cab to me than a Crewmax. That rear door doesn’t look like my rear door. Someone else pointed out that they probably just redesigned the exterior, evened out the doors more, and “hid” the fact that it has a crewmax-sized rear seat in it. I agree; that’s probably the deal.

But I’d love to see a 6’ bed (right between DC and CM) and a backseat that splits the difference, too. Was kind of hoping that truck on the right was it.

According to Toyota, they are cutting back on other production lines to keep the San Antonio plant running full steam ahead with Tacoma and Tundra production. Source. It seems to me that any dealer mentioning that is just putting it out there as a means to mark up from MSRP when they start to get trucks in.

If this chip prioritization is indeed true, it may support the argument that Toyota is starting to take the American truck market more seriously. If that’s the case, maybe there are more aggressive developments (Raptor competitor, HD truck, hybrid diesel, etc) in the works for the next 5 years. Who knows? When we get actual specs on this ‘22 Tundra, we will see how serious they are about increasing their market share.

I mean, trucks and full size SUVs are the only models keeping the domestics afloat, and they’re killing it in sales. Maybe Toyota sees that is where it should make the next big push in the industry. If the way they are prioritizing chips is any indicator, that could be the case.

Lots more speculation on my part. That’s really what this thread is all about, right? :bananadead:

So if Toyota is going full on producing trucks and that's all that people can find to buy, Karen gets a Tundra instead of a RX350, Highlander, etc. to haul the rug rats and trips to Home Goods. Then when the other models finally become available, she dumps the truck and I get a smoking great deal on a used Tundra that smells like Captain Crunch and Sandelwood.

Not sure if this has been posted, but reinforces my thoughts that people will hate this truck a whole lot less when they see them with a bit of lift and bigger tires. Not that the rendering here is exactly my cup of tea...

I'm sure they're going to keep calling it a CM and offer it with both a 5.5 ft and a 6.5 ft bed. It's not like the current CM has any more room in the backseat than a 2019+ GM or a 2015+ F150.

Reveal is Sept. 19th during the Sunday night Chiefs-Ravens game. The press gets time to get their stories ready and signed an agreement not to disclose prior to reveal.

Good, good, let the hate flow through you. Each person that hates it just makes ours worth more.

I had an 03 Sport Trac. When the new style came out in 06 the value of mine jumped way up. I predict the same here.

It’s going to have to grow on me a bit…right now it looks like a mis-mash of different trucks depending on the angle.

I was hoping to see integrated bumper steps and some sort of innovative tailgate design…hmmm…simple adds that make things much more user friendly…I guess we will see on the 19th.

Why would they design it so if you hit something with the bumper you have to replace the entire rear 1/4 panel? The bumper wraps around to the wheel well. Great fro after market bumpers, odd for stock

I have no clue ask the designers. What everyone says is a seam looks more like a reflection as it's not as apparent on the other side. If they did design it like your talking about they basically made it like a car bumper then with the main bumper area being a separate piece on the backside.

I'm with the others I was going to see some type of integrated steps or do something nice with the exhaust as well. Interior is nicer but again we are getting away from truck duty with this new interior. Remember when Toyota told us they designed the interior for truck duty, you could wear gloves and still use all the functions. Feels to me with this truck Toyota is going after the people who currently drive car and SUVs and want to get a truck. I feel those who have always owned trucks will be disappointed, but that's also the way the whole 1/2 ton market has gone and the reason those guys have moved into 3/4ton trucks.

Except that the interiors of the 3/4 and 1 ton trucks from the big 3 tend to be the same as the interior of their 1/2 tons.

Yup. We have 8 official photos from Toyota. And we have 12,000 posts of speculation.

Much of the speculation may turn out to be correct. I wouldn’t be surprised if the general consensus on this thread is WAY off base in some areas once we get actual numbers from Toyota.

The chip prioritization makes me think that Toyota is serious about gaining ground in the truck market. They blew everyone away last time they redesigned the Tundra in 2006. I’m hopeful it will happen again.

2006? Many of these people posting couldn’t even drive in 2006. Toyota just bringing out a new model will be mind blowing to many.

Ha! Yep. By “blew everyone away” I meant the competition, which quickly caught up of course. But yes, if you’re under 30, you weren’t even driving last time Toyota released a redesigned Tundra.

I wish people would stop saying they expect a price increase. Toyota is going to think they have to increase the prices.

I'm expecting the new Tundra to be $40k CAD or less for an SR5 Upgrade Package 4x4 CM.

Yeah but who will be able to afford all that after buying a $65k-$85k truck? That's probably a $100k setup right there or close to it.
