The 6MT is way better - I’ve put a lot of miles on both 50k AT, 117k+ MT

If toyota swapped the factory gearing in the AT from 3.91 to 4.88, it would make a world of difference. The AT and MT feel like completely different trucks. Hard to believe it’s the same motor.

I've read before that Toyota typically run rich which helps with reliability.

I must have missed that you use it for hunting. Can't hunt out of a 4R?

70mph in my Taco was 18mpg. My 55mph commute was 24mpg. When I sold the truck at ~45,000 miles the lifetime average MPG was 22.5

    A bunch
The 10 speed negates the need for multiple rear end gears - want better fuel economy ECO mode can push for higher gear selection, go into towing it picks the right RPM range for torque, go into sport and it picks the gears based on max HP.

The difference the other manufacturers get with the fuel economy is because they use the same transmission. With 4 speed and even 6's it really made a huge difference to pick the right rear end. With 10's the rear end selection won't change performance very much because there's so many combinations that the same rear end gear can do all power, torque, and fuel economy.

The biggest hurdle for the Tundra fuel economy is how draggy the driveline is. Take your foot off the gas at 65 and it feels like you hit the brakes and it slows to 40 right away. Take your foot off the gas at 65 in an F150 and it feels like the truck goes into neutral, it just coasts so effortlessly.

You just explained why Toyota is going with a TTV6. Those mpg numbers are lower than a HD 3/4 ton. Hopefully with this new engine and not always being in the boost it will get mid 20’s hwy, and 19-20 combined.

We have 10AT 5.0 F-150s at work. They "hunt" often, but it's unnoticeable because the truck is so smooth, and the gears are close.

Sure, on a flat road with no head wind going 55 and resetting the trip meter. Yes 24 mpg. Any real world driving, the taco does not get 24 mpg hwy. You buy the taco for durability, not mpg or comfort. If the durability goes away, well…

You have had 3 people now with real world experience tell you what the mileage is under different driving conditions and all agree. Some people can not be helped.

That’s because it was an agenda to simply discredit the Tacoma while ignoring the facts. As someone pointed out, something was wrong with that rental.

low to mid 20s in a Tacoma is possible. I’ve got a couple tanks of 24+

    I average 20-22 mpg at 70 mph, at 55 it’ll be higher.

I also know a bunch of guys struggling to get 15 mpg, but that’s what happens when you go 33-35s and add 1000+ lbs of weight

    51CFA689-83CE-47DE-A6AE-DC57BFD1D3BA.jpg

these have a significant amount of stop and go city driving and still around 20

Yeesh, relax. There's no speculation, dude goes through a spec sheet posted on this board that lists the various 2022 models and options. He points out things that you probably never noticed when the spec sheet was posted here. I bet he's 100% correct, same as he's been in all of his videos I've seen.

I don't know what you and your likers have against the guy. While posters here were posting ridiculously inaccurate speculation about the TNGA-F platform Chao calmly and accurately explained TNGA-F.

Every Chao video I've seen has been accurate, I can't figure out where the hatred comes from. Do you have specific examples?

I always get a kick out of people comparing mpg. I ran the number for a 21 tundra at 19mpg and the 22 at 25(dreaming of course) and it was around $570 a year if you drive 15k at $3 a gallon. And magazines always do this but never say the true figure. They just stick to mpg.

has anyone watched this video review of the 2021 tundra, the key take away was that he was heading out to plano texas to see the new 2022 tundra.

i imagine he will be under an embargo until the 19 to release his review.

Yeah, if you're in boost a lot from what I've seen with Ford 3.5's at fuelly.com the mpg isn't much better than the 5.7l Tundra. I have zero experience with turbo engines, but I did some research on Ford boards and what constantly comes up is "With the Ecoboost you get either Eco or Boost, can't get both at the same time." It's CAFE related, mfg's have to meet fleet standards tested at 55mph on flat ground at sea level.

currently have a 2018 platinum. well pricing a 2021 platinum with the same options we have now runs up to 57k msrp (moonroof, classic running boards, front bumper/hood protection) and our 2018 was 53k msrp (before discounts, after discount it was 47.5k then trade in brought it down another 12k i think before tax credit for trade in). i imagine pricing will jump considerably since they are giving more options to add to the price. adding pano roof (i dont think they will offer the normal moonroof anymore), PVM, heated steering wheel and then the classic running boards, front bumper/hood protection will probably push the 2022 plat close to 60k. we have a budget of 65k depending on trade in value they give us for our 2018 plat with only 34k miles. we are betting on the low side of about 40k trade in value for ours, but i have seen a high of 43k.

I don't know the exact testing specs but looking at fuelly.com for real world mpg's the Ford 3.5's the majority are about 3mpg's better compared to the Tundra 5.7l.

Ford Ecoboost the majority are in the 17-19 mpg range, Tundra 14-17 range. As I've said before, I'll let the fearless among us here beta test the beast and decide if it's worth it to go from the V8 to the new platform.

TFL just put out that they are going to exclusively reveal a new Truck on this Thursday. They wernt allowed to say the brand or clues. Just pointed to the Ram TRX when talking about this all new reveal.

Some speculate it's the new Raptor. Others the new Tundra.

He pretends to have scoops or more info than other sources. His video after the first official pic was released (white Pro) had a ton of shots of current gen trucks and features being presented as new. Extreme close ups on items that a non Tundra owner/enthusiast might not know are current tech. Then big super far off shots of trucks going on trails and hills from a distance that made them nearly impossible to identify.. It equates to a fan made trailer.

In the comments of that video someone commented that they were hoping to see more interior shots. There were NO interior shots in the video from the new truck; only current gen. Did he clarify that it was fanmade and he had no more info than anyone else? Nope! The lying sack actually said he had MORE interior shots and had forgotten to include them. He never had sh*t and he's deceptive for the sake of trying to run up views. He's a hack and will get no views from me.
