My sons friend dropped by today driving a F-150. Looking at it had me thinking about all those complaining about the ‘22 Tundra front grill and it’s size. Well looking at this F-150 made me notice the massive grille on the Ford.,I guess there will be those who now say Toyota copies Ford.

The '22 Tundra looks pretty much exactly like the other trucks currently on the road. If you do not like the tundra, the you are not going to like GM/Chevy, Ford, or Ram. They all have the same design cues and look very similar.

are we looking at the same vehicles? cause honestly, the LC is WAY better looking than the Tundra; smaller grill, non bulging "bumper" and good looking headlights. Cab design is either the same or very very close.

Again on the grill, I think the LC's new face is much closer to the natural evolution of the 3rd gen Tundra.

Yup. I can see all the reviews now making fun of the hideous looks of it. Why couldn’t they put the gas door elsewhere? Why the plastic molding over the wheel wells when we know that plastic will fade over time, Chevy much? The front end looks like a oversized Tacoma. Toyota has taken this design across the board. The RAV4 isn’t a off-road vehicle but yet they added the same design.

Mine is paid off and I'm hoping to drive it until the wheels fall off. My 2003 Sequoia on the other hand, while its never needed a single repair, may get replaced with this coming generation. The wife and I really did not like the last generation Sequoia, I hope they adopt a Land Cruiser style system and retain the size...we'll see. My son starts driving this year so he might inherit the big tree. I'm not big on buying the first year run of anything, even a toyota. Maybe its time for my mid-life sports car for a bit?

I wish they would have have left the double cab rear door handle vertical and tucked in with the door seam. Putting them down below throws off the proportions and makes the rear look like it's small just like it does on Chevy and GMC extended cab.

I'm bothered by it also, the door handle looks to be over a foot long, really looks awkward, and being chrome makes it worse

Agreed it was a design cue that only the Tundra had, I hope they kept the double cab interior proportions as it has much more room currently then the other offerings.

IMO it’s a shame Toyota didn’t keep the same angle on the double cabs coming off the bed. Always thought that looked cool

I don’t know how I feel about the rear bumper being all one piece with the rear quarter panels as well. Seems like it would be a hell of a body shop bill if you get rear ended. it is not just the bumper getting trashed but the whole quarter panel as well, or both.

E8484F0E-5E43-4475-87DB-8F3A881F73DF.jpg There is a seam….actually it’s a better design, I was hit and it shoved my bumper into the rear quarter panel..

I don’t know why it’s being said that it’s all one piece. My eyes are not great but I see a distinct seam where the bumper ends and quarter panel.

And, will make it easier to mod for a high clearance rear bumper?

The bumper wasn't complicated enough so they had to fix that. Those bumper pieces and parts were already a massive pain to go from chrome to black plastic. I dont get it. I dont want expensive paint matched pieces and parts anywhere on the bumpers or grill or mirrors. Just cheap black plastic I can order anywhere. But whatever

Where is the seam? Looks like all one piece from that picture at the port.

It just doesn't seem like a usable design aspect for a truck, with the tailgate down you cannot place a foot at the corner of the bumper while getting in the bed anymore since that's a part of the bedside now. Highly vulnerable area to have it Incorporated into the bedside.

Looks like a color matched side cap. Not cool. Hopefully not on SRs

Well, if you're a function over form person you'll probably like the 2022. MTS and Crawl Control are a big step up from the previous gen. TTV6 and 10-spd should get 3mpg better avg mpg. Maybe Toyota will surprise us with e-lockers front and rear, that would certainly put the Tundra above the competition.

I'm sure the Sequoia will retain the Torsen center diff for full-time 4WD, will get MTS and Crawl Control. Sequoia will replace the LC200 in North America but $30k less. Those craving an LC300, Lexus will have the clone LX.

Hopefully the Tundra gets the Torsen center diff also. Of course, the superduper features Toyota will keep for the higher trims, won't be a la carte.

That's the best way to keep ol' girl running like a top. Get the parts while they are still being made by the OEM.

Same with just about every new generation. Every hated the 3rd gen tacomas design and now it's seemed to grow on people. The 2nd gen tacoma and Tundra both didn't look all that great IMO, there so bubbly, have some Michelin man vibes. I still would drive one though.

If the new Tundra by some freak occurrence (given Toyota’s penchant for laggardly tuning) turns out to be pretty quick for a truck I will buy one, and leave the rear end stock and as “ugly” as possible. Just so haters will be forced to look at it as they’re unable to pass me in their old slow Tundra.

This is very wishful thinking. We all know Toyota will somehow manage to make a more powerful truck no quicker than the old one.

I'm pretty sure Toyota won't keep the aggressive gearing of the 5.7, they'll use taller gears to improve MPGs. I think you're right, the new one may not be faster.

I hope it is just the angle of the pictures, but man, that hood looks really long.
    Too long IMO.

Since they went with that stupid tablet looking infotainment system, who here wants to get together to help make an aftermarket piece to slide over the top of that empty back space?

I hope manufacturers stop making that fugly design...
