This was a rental. But only had 2700 miles on it. Neighbors also have the newer taco with the Camry engine. They also agreed with my mpg. I was happy to get back in my Tundra. Taco has a weak underpowered engine. Would be a nightmare towing anything close to 4000 lbs.

Just referring to the pic here…does anyone else think this doesn’t look very Crewmax-ish? That rear door doesn’t look as big as mine. Is this the standard crew cab with a 6’ bed compromise that sits right between the DC and the CM?

It might just be the angle. It’s definitely not a 6.5’ bed; look at the difference in the length in front of the rear wheel between the two trucks in that pic.

Thats not entirely a bad thing, the front is so long it probably needs to save wheelbase.

They balanaced the length of front and rear doors like tacoma. 3rd gen rear doors were too long and acted like sails in a tailwind smacking cars next to it in parking lots. Great change for me!

Thus, the reason for my Tundra. I wouldn't pull my TT with any Tacoma. even the ones with a "truck" engine. As for your experience and your neighbors, I have to reply on my own 4 year experience. Oh, and my wife's hairdressers cousins boyfriend. He loves his Turd Gen. I heard.

Yes sir. That new hood is long. Not sure why longer engine bay for smaller engine? Truck is probably very well balanced so great call toyota engineering unlike chev with the stubby heavy front end sinking into marsh taking traction from rear.

Hope u like 3 point turns because your going to be doing a lot of them. I agree if it ain't got 8 ft bed it ain't a truck but I learned the hard way about long bed crew cabs. Wiseman said git a friend with one and make them haul your chit.

Yeah, it's probably just that they balanced it out better. That truck on the right looks like a standard crew cab, not a crew max, to me. The official photo from Toyota of the white TRD Pro looks the same way.

And I agree that the '07-'21 rear doors are long. I just park away from people and don't have any issues with it.

I don’t mean to let something like facts get in the way of a good story……. But all the reviews I see are extremely positive in terms of the motor, in my research I haven’t seen a single person say anything negative (besides wanting a twin turbo V8, or all electric). Simple google search of LS500 engine……

    https://www.motortrend.com/reviews/2021-lexus-ls-500-first-test-review/

    https://jalopnik.com/the-twin-turbo-v6-in-the-lexus-ls-500-is-a-legit-v8-rep-1827805843

    https://www.motorauthority.com/news/1034652_2021-lexus-ls-review-price-photos-specs-info

Even more apples to apples are the LC300 reviews. All are equally as impressed with the new gas motor.

I don't know how people are coming up with a 35-40% MSRP increase for 2022. Toyota wants to increase their share of the truck market, not price themselves out of competition. For comparison, the 2022 LC300 has a 13% MSRP increase over the 2021 LC200.

As for the 3.5l TTV6, if Toyota is confident enough to put it into the 2022 LC300 that tells me the next gen Tundra/Sequoia will have a reliable drivetrain (the 10-spd trans also).

Here's a link for an LC300 3.5l dyno test 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser Hits The Dyno With Twin-Turbo V6 Engine (motor1.com)

I'm interested in the new Sequoia and maybe will buy used in a few years after the all-new platform has been beta tested by the fearless sorts among us here.

Anybody interested about the next gen Lexus LX (LC300 clone) that North America will get here's an Australian review First Drive - Toyota Landcruiser LC300 2022 - offroad, towing, dirt, onroad review vs LC200 - YouTube

Of course, the most intriguing question is - does the 3.5l 10-spd combo have an aux trans cooler?

For the refresh in 2014 they went to a 3 piece rear bumper because they were expensive to replace if they got damaged. Now you will need a body shop for sure.

Backing into spots is the way to go.

I have an unfair advantage though, I work in the city of Seattle as a utility tech and I drive line rigs and F550 bucket trucks, and I even park them in small parking lots or parallel park them on the street.

All this complaint about looks… I remember when the 2014 first came out and everyone HATED it. All it took for me and others was seeing one member who blacked theirs all out, lifted it and tossed on some nice wheels and rubber and a topper.

I fully expect the fuel mapping, throttle tuning, and transmission tuning to prioritize fuel economy above all else. Just like the current truck, the new truck is going to be a slug in normal driving mode.

Seven seconds 0-60 in the LC300 is pretty good. As for a car engine brought into truckdom, the 4.7l V8 2UZ-FE was derived from the Lexus GS400 1UZ-FE.

4.7l 2UZ-FE went to an iron block instead of aluminum block, the crankshaft stayed the same, but that's about it.

This LS500 derived 3.5l won't change internally from the LC300 derivation, so yeah, it's a car engine that Toyota decided was strong enough for the next gen Land Cruiser, Lexus LX, and Tundra/Sequoia.

I like the interior so much, I can ignore the exterior, it doesn't seem that bad, but not handsome like the 1st Gen Japanese attempts at "full size".

My current truck is (IMO) the best looking truck ever made, BUT, the interior is Tupperware garbage fest and I really don't give a crap what anyone thinks of my ride.

I really can't wait to sit in a new Tundra and see how it feels. I hope the forward view over that hood doesn't seem like it was swiped from a super duty truck....

It will be held against current competition which is a minimum of a full second quicker, especially F-150s.
I personally don't mind it, it'll still be great at altitude, but it is not going to look good for armchair warriors

Maybe I'm an exception, but I loved the 2014 in sunset bronze mica, EXCEPT the overwhelming chrome front. Bought a 1794 and remedied the chrome with a matching color Platinum hood scoop, Pro grille, painted bumper end caps, etc. Anyway, 8 model years later sold it to get ready for new Tundra. Then I saw some pix. Ugh. No amount of grille/front end alteration would improve things, and that rear end...WTF? One piece bumper end/qtr panel, on a truck...another WTF. No Tundra for me. Ended up with a 2021 RAM Rebel, V6 turbo diesel that got 28+mpg on 1200mi drive from dealer to SOCAL. Will easily tow 10K (wouldn't tow anything heavier with a 1/2 ton regardless of specs) and nearly the match of the 1794 interior which may be the most attractive truck interior ever (IMO of course).

That'd be sweet. I love the ford 300 I6, they last forever, and have lots of torque. They are 'almost' indestructible, I did throw a rod in one.....after driving 8 hrs, with no oil pressure, in the middle of summer on a roadtrip, in the south.
