Maybe it’s just me, but this does look like a Double Cab (non CM). Haven’t seen any spy shots of this yet….

I carry 12' boards in my truck all the time. Tailgate up, rear window down, boards on dash and barely hanging over tailgate

Why are we arguing about math? Haven’t you heard the news? Basic competency in math (along with reading and writing) is no longer considered important or desirable.

You absolutely can go in and say that; and that's what I usually do. They screw you by wearing you down with a bunch of different numbers, if you do your homework and decide you are willing to pay X out the door, and that's the max dollar you're willing to pay, there's nothing wrong with entering negotiations already having made up your mind on that. I usually walk in with that number and keep it to myself, haggle until they won't budge - and then if that number is at, or below the number I came in with, we can make a deal. I may walk out anyway just to see if I can get it down lower, but I always go in with my max OTD price set in my mind.

Correct, and whether I want to trade based on what you'll offer vs. others.

EXACTLY! I went in, said "this is what I owe on my trades. Undervalue the trades, overvalue the truck, add or drop fees; I don't care. Give me that truck for this number out the door and we have a deal." No stress on my part. Sales guy just had to go play whatever numbers game with his manager instead of with me.

I’ll have to try your method sometime. I just do this:
    81C26CC7-51C2-407E-BA23-EBF30C9E4BC3.jpg
I figure with 5.5’ of bed plus the tailgate adding 22.2”, I have less than 5’ of my 12’ boards sticking out the back. Not bad at all.

Me too. This is 11.5 feet. I want to go back to a standard size bed tho. I miss the longer bed and higher payload.

Yeah. I’d def put some towels down. Especially with rough-faced cedar boards.

    .
That's exactly why I focus only on the actual sale price. On the Sales Contract, usually the first line of the monies section is the agreed upon sales price, after that is trade-in, down payment, rebates, offers, add-ons, etc. If you don't make it a point to go straight to line 1, sales price, they will keep trying to throw random shit at you. Especially when they have that piece of paper they take back-and-forth to their sales manager, that never adds up right. Some dealers will even tell me to go pound sand, because I want to cut to the chase, I used to work in a dealer, I know the tricks. I tell them up front, the vehicle I drove in is not a trade-in, I don't talk about financing or cash, let's get straight to line 1.
I had to visit 3 Toyota dealers to buy my wife's new Toyota, the 3rd dealer respected my approach and we went straight to line 1, and the salesman looked me straight in the eyes when we got to the optional add-ons and warranties/services and said "I bet you don't want any of these, do you?" I am going back to that dealer to try and buy the new Tundra. They didn't BS me at all. And I got the exact price I wanted to pay on line 1, the other 2 dealers treated us like crap when they realized we couldn't be tricked or didn't want to play their games.

Maybe we're both saying the same thing in different ways, but from my experience - if I don't make it clear that the price I'm negotiating is my OUT THE DOOR price, they'll get me to a nice "Line 1" that we can agree upon, but they sneak a bunch of shit in when it comes to fees, and optional add ons that they'll make seem like it's required. If I say it's my OUT THE DOOR price, they usually know they can't pull all that shit on me, and usually they hope financing can pull some wool over my eyes - but then I make it clear to them that I don't want anything they're selling.

Then again, all the dealerships around here have been moving to a "Haggle-Free Price" model, where they absolutely will not haggle. Takes the fun out of it for me.

I think He means a hitch rack so it supports the kayak way out past the bed of the truck and it’s easy loading. That’s what I used with my tundra and Tacoma

    That is great.

I want less competition for my son when he’s an adult. He will learn math, how to manage money, and how to speak and write the English language among others if he has an aptitude. Hopefully I can pass on some hand skills, and so can my father-in-law. I will do my best to ensure that he is physically fit, mentally tough, and competent with rifles and pistols before his 18th birthday.

With any luck he’ll be an expert at trampling the weak and hurdling over the dead on his path to enslaving all of the dumb dumbs, who it seems, will be his peers.

Hell a lot of the dealers around here don't want to talk sales price. They want to know what you can afford or willing to pay each month. I had to argue with them that I wasn't talking monthly payments until we had a sales price.

She's cute and that's a neat system but way more trouble than I want. First I would need a bed rack to put that on. So I would be taking that in and out of the truck. Far easier to just slide it in the bed and strap it down. It would be nice when towing the RV tho.
