Sorry, there's no way this is going to flop. They're doing exactly what they intended all along with the Q4'21 drop.

Our BMW X3 28d has turbo on the diesel, and there only one flavor of fuel. Works great, about 35 mpg overall for 55000 miles. It’s 5 years old so there is a model to be copied…

Funny thing is some of the mangiest interiors I have seen are lady driven . It would be a PIA though I agree. And will surely show it’s age down the road.

Pretty sure he said "girly man"; but regardless, have you ever seen a womens restroom? They're some of the filthiest places on earth. We have a RX 350 F-Sport that has red interior and love it, never had a problem with it getting dirty.

it seems very odd to have that down on the passenger side, with the size of the tundra interior, seems like it would be hard to reach from the driver side. kinda odd at the moment until we see the actual layout. Passenger knocking your phone off while they move around or wife moves her purse around or other crap while you drive here we come

"With a host of innovative new features and next-level interior refinement"

anyone want to bet there isn't much innovative at all for the 1/2 ton market? It will be innovative for the tundra, not the market. not saying thats bad, just is what it is.

Does that RX 350 F-Sport get used like a truck or used like an around town rig though? I know the majority of the pro owners will probably never use their truck to work, hunt, camp, off road with, etc so the red should be fine. But if you use your truck as a truck then the red may be tough to take care of.

Been saying this since the LandCruiser interior reveal. LandCruiser Trim can't beat a decked out 2019 Ram 1500. Saw the new 2021 Limited Trim for the Ram in a TFL video. It's is crazy nice.

I love Toyota. Just not a fan of this hype. It should read "we are worth considering again in the 1/2 ton segment".

The F-Sport does get a fair amount of dirt roading; which honestly is what most people are doing when they're "off-roading" anyway. I think your assumption that a truck that's being used to working/hunting/camping regularly takes more of a beating, but I'm pretty sure that isn't the crowd Toyota is aiming for with the TRD Pro.

I get what you're saying, but for me, the Tundra is and has been for several years the only 1/2 ton worth considering at all.

The new Ram 1500 could self-drive while I lie back in a cooled recliner watching Netflix on the ceiling, and to me it wouldn't be worth the time many of those guys are spending going back to the dealer again and again not getting their issues resolved.

I could not care any less at all what the domestic half tons do (least of all what their interiors feature or look like in a damn truck) because I don't trust any of them for the trouble-free mileage I expect to put on my Tundra.

"bUt ThE wArRaNtY wIlL tAkE cArE oF yOu!" Still not worth my time in repeated trips to the dealer. Here's a thread at the Ram forum where the guy has basically given up after two years of trying to have some stupid cab mounts fixed on his 2500 Tradesman. He spent over a month unable to go boating right when he got the truck because it was at the dealer so much. Escalated the issue with RamCares, got "star engineers" involved, and no resolution. Loads of threads on their liquid filled cab mounts at that forum. o_O No wonder so many of them just live with it.

Well, that was a rant. Not necessarily all aimed at you @1UP

Agreed. Looks like they are simply catching up to Ram and Ford on the interior side.

Hopefully the iforce max has a big set of hairy nuts and performance wise is on the next level of torque/towing/feel/mpg etc etc.

LOL, that person would be fired for saying that.

I get it, they have to hype it up, but us long time toyota fans know this isn't going to innovate a thing. It's going to be a solid reliable toyota truck that people will buy that want reliability and resale over everything and those of us who just like toyota trucks.

I would bet there is another one on the driver’s side but the passenger side made for a better pic. Seems pretty advanced to have wireless charging for all. I dig it.

I bet a 6 pack that isn't the case and this much more likely of toyota putting it on the passenger side which would continue the long trend of having no interior functionality and putting things in stupid places. I was just in my truck asking myself again, WTF do they put all these controls down by my knees that I can't see and have to bend around the steering wheel to try and find.

    Red interior. Puke.

Hopefully it’s on a TRD pro that has a red exterior.
I can avoid that all together

    Pretty much.

Chance of innovative features on the new Tundra: 10%.

Toyota is not in the innovation business. At least not for pickup trucks in the North American market. They can make all the claims they want about being “in it to win it” or offering a power train that will “blow us away”, but at the end of the day that is just marketing hype. We know from their product strategy that they’re going to probably not introduce anything new or revolutionary.

Chance of introducing features already pioneered by the competition to at least make the Tundra viable: 90%.

The new Tundra will catch up with the current market segment leaders, maybe exceed a few capacities. That’s it. Nothing more, nothing less. Toyota will have focused on competitors features and tech, and made sure to refine those concepts to a level of Toyota reliability standards.

Chances of Toyota continually updating the new truck to keep pace with the 1/2 ton pickup truck market: 2%.

The current truck is 14 years on the market with a very minor refresh to sheet metal and trim. Toyota doesn’t bother spending money to make continual updates or redesigns. Whatever engine, transmission, frame, axles, suspension, brakes etc the 2022 has will be unchanged over a decade later.

Chance of the new Tundra capturing market share from the Big Three: 10%.

The continuing flow of new customers who got burned for the last time by a domestic offering will continue. It won’t be enough to significantly increase market share. About the same pace Toyota captures new customers from the domestic pickup makers, there are Tundra owners who outgrow a 1/2 ton and go back to the Big 3 for a 3/4 or 1 ton.
