You’ve gotta be schitting me, that’s 1/5 of a century. Just how many millennia are we supposed to wait for them to update a pickup truck?

Maybe they'll have another option, although that roof would put me back in one.

I'm guessing you maybe meant Crewmax with 6.5' bed? I don't believe we need to speculate to far after seeing them testing:

I would speculate, however, that the 30mpg version is going to be the hybrid powertrain and it'll probably be a costly upgrade?

No, with the lack of any Double Cab spy shots and the lower sales numbers for them, I'm hoping that configuration is not discontinued in the next generation.

Fair point! The Tundra double cab could be going the way of the Tacoma single cab, but I sure hope not

I like the continuation of the rear window. The red interior I do hope is one option, as I prefer black personally. Just never have been into any other color interior. I assume there will be, however, I'm hoping the Pro is not stuck with just this option!

I don't know if you guys noticed, but in the sunroof pic there is also a sliding rear window pictured! Good to have it confirmed.

So, that big-ass sunroof gives me pause. How are Toyota sunroofs for long term reliability? My experience has been that even reliable cars have sunroof issues when they get older. Also, if I'm offroading, I don't want a rock or branch from above breaking a huge sunroof when I'm in the middle of nowhere.

On the other hand, good news/speculation: https://tfltruck.com/2021/07/the-ne...-rear-will-the-new-2022-tundra-have-the-same/

I personally do not want a sun roof because I do not want to worry about leaks in a decade but that is a great looking sun roof.

Man I hope that sunroof is only on certain hi end models and not common. That would be a big turn off.

    Amen to that.

My 4R sunroof has been bulletproof so far (knock on wood) - but I went with a Tundra because I don't want a thousand bells and whistles that are eventually going to cause problems and cost $$$$ to fix.

On the new Highlander, the large sun roof is only available on the Platinum trim. My wife has one and it is quite nice.

The last sunroof that went out on me was on a Ford. They're good now.

I'm betting that's only an option on the upper end models. I like my Sunroof on my dblcab - it's not a standard option - but made by the company that does almost all of the car sunroofs. They aren't for everyone.

Yeah, it wouldn't stop me from getting a Tundra in my preferred config, it'd just be another maintenance issue in the long term (all sunroofs get buildup in the drains over time)

My 2016 GTI needed the entire sunroof assembly replaced under warranty. And it was the design I took issue with, they have more plastic in their mechanisms than 25 years ago, so I worry it'd affect every manufacturer using a similar design, which Toyota is now doing, unfortunately

I’m getting one but just won’t be the sucker to pay over MSRP (to each their own). With the CPI data today they’re not going to be cheap I guarantee that.

Sunroof seem to be hit or miss, regardless of Make and Model. My 2002 4runner sunroof is doing just fine, as was my mitsubishi Eclipse before that. But it wouldn't stop me from getting a higher trim like others have mentioned. I'd probably dark tint the glass though.

Those massive sunroofs look great but are complex and expensive to repair.

That's great and a great argument for them to stick with the tried and true "normal" sized, single pane sunroof design. There are a lot of issues with the pano roofs from all manufacturers. There are a lot of disadvantages and added complexity too. I doubt they would offer the current sized one AND the pano but I wish they would because I do like sunroofs, just not panoramic sunroofs.

I'm glad they at least said it was option on the TRD PRO trucks, so I could opt OUT.

I bought the OG 2015 TRD PRO back when they marketed them as basically a SR5 with cloth seats, suspension upgrades, TRD Exhaust, and a blackout package. Back when you could buy one for under $40k! People bitched and moaned about how they couldn't live without heated leather seats, or OMG! NO DUAL ZONE AC!! etc, etc. Now TRD PRO's are basically Limited series trucks with the addons listed above and you're lucky to get into one for $55k.

To cut my rant short(er), I hope they offer an offroad capable truck for guys that don't want/"need" all the frills...

That red leather and seatbelt is a bit much for me. I guess that’s what’s in the Pro?
