These guys, IIHS and the like, are really just making themselves busy.

And, it seems they are messing with people's heads, because if you go on a small car enthusiasts forum (we own small cars, I'm not just trolling), and remind them that if they get plowed by an Excursion, they are still going to die despite their "Top Safety Pick+" designation, they just can't believe it. They totally disregard mass and inertia.

I've been buying new cars for a very long time, and I am growing weary of how each new generation has 47% more torsional rigidity, new this that and the other thing. I have heard these claims for a quarter century now.
As much as people clamor to get the latest and greatest, they only need to look back a decade or two and realize what was the latest and greatest back then is now deemed a death trap. Oh, however did we survive?

Asked my local dealer about a deposit on a 22, check out the response. I know we all suspected a hybrid so it’s not super surprising but interesting timeline at least. 052BE6C5-308D-4080-83A7-FFD9D5968EBD.jpg

I’m good buddies with the owners of the Toyota dealership in town, and they told me the same exact thing. Hybrid won’t be out for another year at least.

I wonder what the towing and payload difference will be between Hybrid vs all gasser?

So Toyota has had about a decade to work on this truck (not that they actually did use all of that time), and they’re going to delay the Hybrid by a year and offer only a base engine?

    Well good luck with that.

Thank you for saying that . The majority of the people on here seem to be pretty decent and I enjoy reading the posts and chatting with you guy's . I'm glad that most don't mind me not owning a Tundra and don't really care what I drive .

Just being as decent a human as I can be about it. Ostracizing somebody because they drive a different vehicle is pretty snobby. If I had Bill Gates or Jeff Bezos kind of money, I'd have one of everything!

I think they'll definitely keep the roll down back window . They must have some pretty decent patents on it because no other manufacturer has made it an option yet .

So… their 1st official tease photo is a hybrid logo? Why even announce your coming out with a hybrid if it won’t be out for another year. How many customers are going to pause their purchase to wait and see what the hybrid will be. Sounds like bad marketing.

Damn. I had a 2016 Ram for about 2 years, all I had go wrong was my exhaust manifold gaskets. Once that was fixed, my power steering was leaking from shifting the engine during the gasket repair. Needless to say I quickly learned my lesson and sold it ... Bought my 2018 Tundra after eyeing for about a month at the dealer waiting for a price drop. You know, back when used trucks were priced normally.

    Glad you're ok.

Works well for me. My current truck is 15 years old and only 85k miles. The way I use my truck, a hybrid version would be a waste. The batteries would expire from age and lack of use, causing the truck to incur an expensive repair at relatively low miles.

Now, if Toyota is going to give us a Tundra Prime, which would disrupt the industry more than a Hybrid (Ford beat Toyota on that one), I personally would consider buying that version possibly as a daily driver. If no Prime is coming, I'll take a gas only Tundra over a hybrid. I'm not interested in battery assisted anything, unless I can reasonably drive around town on electricity only.

Patents and copyrights do not protect ideas or concepts but rather specific technology and approaches. A roll down window is a concept and could be replicated by the others if they wished to do so.

The previous generation Bronco ( I believe 96 was the last year?) had the power down rear glass. That was awesome! I don't technically need a crew cab but would buy one just for that!

Toyota should hurry up and show some solid dates to look for. I came this close to getting land cruiser couple of days ago, let it go for $800 or i would have been off market for a long time. still holding off for tundra, lets see if land cruiser catches me in another weak moment before tundra reveal.

People are not buying the Powerboost just for the mpg, but also the onboard generator. While you can get an onboard generator with the Ecoboost, it is not as many kwh and requires the engine to run the entire time.

I for one would prefer a non hybrid tundra with the TTV6 so a delayed release would be just fine. I’m really hoping for some pretty basic 4x4 options without to much cost adding tech. I don’t need heated seats or lane control. Just a solid truck that hopefully gets over 20mpg highway

Unless, "world beater" means most power/mpgs...

My opinion, only way I'd consider it a "world beater" is if it's a Prime, and not a hybrid, as Ford beat them to that.
