    I did not buy my 2017 LC for the "name". I bought it because it is the most reliable vehicle you can get and its capability and features fit my (and my family's) needs. It can tow my boat, seat 8 (although only midgets in the back), and I can also drive on the beach without any worries of it ever breaking down like most modern vehicles. Not to say it is perfect, storage is actually lacking inside, the mpg is horrendous and it has a small fuel tank so range is even worse.

    If payload is the concern, you might consider a 1 ton instead of a 3/4 ton. Keeping the engine and options the same they aren't usually a big price jump, but the payload will set you up for anything you decide to do in the future.

    Look at post 8027, there's a video by David Chao - who has provided the most info about the new Toyota BOF lineup, also the most accurate speculation.

    He's stated often the new Sequoia will be the reasonably priced LC you want. It will get the LC electronics for better offroad capability (MTS and Crawl Control). Toyota wants more of the large SUV market in NA. They'll build a 3G Sequoia that's competitively priced.

    Let's look at the LC200 and Sequoia:
    - LC200
    * 195"L x 78"W
    * 112"WB
    * 8.9" ground clearance
    * 32/24/21 offroad angles
    * 39' turning circle
    * 5815lbs curb weight

    - 2021 Sequoia
    * 205"L x 80"W
    * 122" WB
    * 9.9" ground clearance
    * 27/22/21 offroad angles
    * 38' turning circle
    * 5730lbs curb weight

    The 2021 Sequoia would be plenty capable offroad similar to the LC200 if it had the electronic aids the LC200 has.

    Hell, the current gen Seq has better ground clearance, similar offroad angles, and a tighter turning circle. The big deal for nuts and bolts, so to speak, is IRS vs solid rear axle for articulation, and lockers.

    IMO the new Seq will get the electronics and some of the nuts and bolts like lockers, maybe LSD for the IRS rear diff. It will retain 2WD, full-time 4HI w/CDL, 4LO. Like the LC, except the LC doesn't have 2WD.

    It's not all that f'n complicated to produce a Sequoia that mimics the LC200 for offroad capability but is also much roomier for the US market, and about $30k less buyin cost. And, of course, if NA folks want the real Tahara-built LC300 the LX600 will be available.

    Seems to me Toyota will be bringing a good lineup of BOF SUV's to NA. Sequoia, 4Runner, GX, LX, something for everybody.

    Seems a sensible, practical plan to drop the LC, enhance the Sequoia by adding LC offroad capability. I hope they will keep the same tight turning circle. This 2019 Sequoia has the same turning circle as my '08 4Runner, amazing.

    I never considered a Sequoia until this year when we wanted something roomier. Love Toyota's but was into Tacomas, 4th Gen Runners and an '05 Tundra (sweet truck). I was amazed at the '19 Sequoia specs, full-time Torsen 4HI with CDL, 4LO, tight turning circle, good payload, great cargo room, IRS, rolldown rear window.

    I expect Toyota will carry on the best features of the current gen Seq and enhance it with LC200 electronics and nuts and bolts.

    I suspect they need a long wheelbase version to compete with the Expedition XL/Suburban/Yukon XL.

    If Toyota can still find dumb enough people to buy the current Sequoia. They will do just fine with one wheelbase on this new version.

    I guess if people need a vehicle in that class and prioritize reliability above everything else, they must be dumb...

    Yeah it definitely takes a real moron to buy the most problem-free, reliable choice (by a long shot) in the full size SUV class. Please let me pay more for a domestic so I can have slightly better mpg and interior creature comforts I didn’t know I needed at the expense of bent lifters, burning/drinking oil, and electrical issues the dealership just shrugs at.

    Whether the new Sequoia stays Tahoe-sized or offers a Suburban-length alternative, I am IN. I just hope our Yukon lasts till 2023.

    I rest my case. Nothing else is built like a Toyota types. Toyota knows it’s market and reason why they didn’t have to make any changes for so many years.

    Sorry, I'm stupid. What case were you trying to make? All I see is someone complaining about Toyota not updating yet buys an outdated Toyota to complain about it on the forums. Is this a reverse psychology tactic?

    Well i put my money where my mouth is and went Sequoia. Twice. Wife and i both have one. It is a better vehicle all the way around than any other full size. far better quality feel than the GM, Ford/Lincoln. Loses in stereo and useless tech departments but that's absolutely it. Rides better than a Lincoln Navigator, doesn't do stupid cut out tricks with the gas if it doesn't like your inputs and has crazy good second row leg room.

    And all it needs to trounce any other SUV in off road ability (including the LC) is e lockers. when we're talking $40k cheaper than an LC a set of e lockers is darn near dirt cheap.

    Toyota knows it’s buyers. They didn’t update the sequoia for 14+ years. Interior is embarrassing. And this suv is not even that reliable. Outside of this vacuum just about everyone I’ve known to own a Sequoia has electrical issues. And so far in the hole they can’t sell them. Last year dealers had $6-10k on the hood just to move the 2019 models off the lot. Went to look at one, opened the door and said no way. $8k off not worth it.

    So, no one buys them, yet "everyone you've known" with one has had electrical issues and is so far upside down on them they can't sell them. I don't buy that for one second as 2nd gen Sequoias, despite being up to 14 years old, still have great resale value.

    And congrats, you found a Toyota marked $8k down. You realize that is just beginning to approach what domestics are typically marked down for, right?

    I was in the market for a 3-row SUV a few years ago. I couldn't believe how much used Sequoias cost when I was looking. We passed for one reason only--there's no space behind the 3rd row when it's up and in use. We settled on a Yukon XL. In 140k miles, several parts have broken on it (water pump, motor mount, fuel pump), and it has gone into limp mode several times (battery, alternator, fouling up a cylinder twice due to buildup from oil consumption). It has stranded her on the side of the road twice. Very frustrating. What's even more frustrating is that many people would probably say, "it's been a great car; only stranded me twice!" :facepalm:

    I'm going to try my best to keep the Yukon alive until 2023. Then it's good riddance. I like the heated leather seats and the auto liftgate. That's about it. I wish I would've seen a new Sequoia for $8k off. I would've pounced on it and told my wife I'll get her a hitch carrier.

    You'll have to back up about 10 pages and read through but I think they cleaned out some of the garbage posts so I don't know who but it definitely helped.

    So, a little quiet from Toyo on the next set of photos... No specs.... No meat here.

    I want to know NOW what truck I'm buying to replace my current truck sometime in 2035.

    Toyota also no doubt wants to keep their cards hidden so other manufacturers have less time to make revisions to their 2022 models.

    To me this new model already looks old. They have basically taken ideas and mods that have already been around for years and slapped them on this new model, then put some crappy looking, played out, carbon fiber-esque accents on it. Then to really frag it up, they dropped a V6 turbo in it to kill resale value. Nobody in their right mind is going to buy a vehicle with 150k on the turbo. This is a hard pass for me. The 2017 is still the best year for the Tundra as far as I'm concerned, so it looks like I'll be holding onto this until it dies. Bummer, I had high hopes for the new model.
