I read (unofficial) articles that the 2022 Land Cruiser comes with lockers, front and rear. Would love to see something like that in a full size Sequoia. I'd pay full Land Cruiser price for it

Saw a GMC today just like the top pic ... super nice looking truck ! I imagine the Tundra will look a tad better with the higher side mirror placement.

Also wonder if the new truck will have any vortex generators ? ..haha, not sure that tech ever did much on current Tundra mirrors and tail lights.

I think it looks great, really bummed they killed it in NA market. Although, they were becoming ridiculously priced!

Not saying that if they drive better they are less capable but typically you sacrifice load carrying capability for a smoother ride...that's a fine balance to try and do both. the big 3 have HD trucks for someone who needs a stiffer more capable suspension for carrying loads..Toyota does not and will probably defer to a more happy medium with being more towards the comfortable end of things.

Maybe but i doubt it, my guess is those that haul loads will not be super happy with this setup. Look at the ram with coils they squat bad, but yes the ride is more comfortable and compliant.

i am one who drives a lot, i put 25-30k on mine a year when I had it before i moved to a 3/4 ton since the Tundy couldn't meet the payload i needed. Chasing mileage costs is a mixed bag like someone stated above, there are other costs to be factored in that sometimes negate the overall mpg gain. Heck my 2012 Tacoma only sees 16-17mpg city, most of my friends with ecoboost fords see no where near the advertised mpg and actual was only like 1-2mpg from what i was getting in the tundra.

Would make a good “overland” vehicle. I’m not sure I agree on the LC pricing though.

Agreed, the grille on this has a more defined look that give it a better overall appearance.

Hey, nobody needs to apologize for wanting good gas mileage. Why, because a couple of keyboard commandos tried to intimate you by trying to sound macho? How do you really know they don't care about under 13 mpg, you can say anything on the Internet. For all we know their extra gas money may come from living in their parent's basement! :D:p

That looks like a 6 ft bed to me. The 5 ft bed is called a short bed on their website.

I know these are are just thrown together renderings but you will never have an aftermarket bumper go straight across like that. You would have to have some kind of filler panel for the part under the headlight.... the bumper will always have to be "u" shaped.

Supposedly the mirrors on the doors like the GM really cut down on blind spots.

Or they'll make them just like they do for the current 4Runner and you'll have to cut to put it on. There will likely be both.

Same with the GX460. You have to cut across that awful predator grille. If it wasn’t for the massive grilles the bumper would just be straight across without any interference.

I like David Chao's videos. He's been saying for a while the next gen Sequoia will be a kindasorta LC300 in some ways, and Tundra in some ways. Better offroad than the current gen Sequoia by adding MTS and Crawl Control but larger than the LC300 and at a reasonable price. MTS and Crawl Control are cheap to add, maybe add a rear locker or LSD for the IRS, front locker maybe. If people want an LC300 clone in North America they can buy an LX600.

Looks better to me compared to the new TRD Pro. Hog snout frontend designs don't turn me on.

Ram 2500's have coil spring rear suspension and if you get one that has the right coils (payload package) they are as good if not better than leafs, I know this because I had a 2014 that had about a 3800 lb payload, I often loaded to the max and there was no unusual squat issue. You have to make sure you are careful about selecting the truck with the right payload, some of their 2500's had very little payload, some had more. Most of the time when you hear people complain about the payload on Rams HD with coils its because they have the wrong set up on the truck.

Ram has an awesome feature on their website that allows you to input the vin of the truck you are looking at and it will give you the exact towing and payload for that truck.. It makes shopping much much easier when payload and towing are important to your selection. Otherwise you visit a lot of lots or spend time on the phone having salesmen check payload stickers for you, (they hate that..lol)

This was originally the case with the Tacoma redesign for 2016. A workaround didn’t take too long

Agree with this. A 2500 power wagon only has about a 1100# payload capacity. That’s not much even for a 1/2 ton.

Really like that front end. So if the Tundra front end can be put on a Sequoia why can't the opposite be done? Kinda hope the Baskin Shark grill is only on the Pro.

I’m bummed too. Although I must say I’ve been confused by Toyota’s strategy with the LX, the LC and the Sequoia in NA in the last 10 years or so. It doesn’t really make sense. You have this legendary off road machine that you try to compete with an Escalade, when the LX already exists? I’m assuming that was to get away from the Sequoia segment, but now you basically have two full size luxury SUVs with different badges.

It makes sense they pulled the LC, but man I wish they would have dropped the Sequoia and made a reasonably priced LC instead. If you want (and can afford) a land yacht experience, go get an LX.

My reasonings for looking at a gas 3/4 ton truck for my next truck in a few years is payload. Right now my truck handles what I need it too do within the limits barely. Camaro on the trailer hooked up and the stuff we bring with us I am only 80 pounds off of max payload. If I had a crewmax I would be over the limit some states we travel through DoT can be unforgiving so I don't push it with weights. When I recover enough with what I can with my recently diagnosed permanent nerve damage in my left leg and lower left back I am going to want to drag race the Camaro at the strip as well as enjoy it on the twisties which requires me to bring drag radials and equipment to swap the back wheels and that will put me over payload. If we do the enclosed trailer route I am pretty much in a 3/4 ton not due to towing weights but payload.

As for mpgs if it gets 14 mpgs or higher its fine for me I care more about towing mpgs which pulling my weights my Tundra gets on average 10-11 mpg which is good in my mind. The Ecoboost I borrowed from a friend for a short time between trucks got 6-7 mpgs which is complete crap. My friend tows his Jeep to Moab and isn't a fan of it either and he says it gets much worse in the rockies but and what I do agree with him on this is the power the Ecoboost brings is really good. Toyota probably has advancements in technologies to help with towing mpg possibly with their upcoming TT V6 but if not and the payload isn't enough I am just getting a 3/4 ton.

I think they found the US market was buying the Lexus more often than the Toyota, they are pretty much the same vehicle, as has been the case for a number of years. I think they kept the sequoia to have an answer to the Tahoe/Expediton. The LC was priced too high and a different vehicle to compete in that space. A lot of people that want the LC will just buy the Lexus.

That's because the LC isn't a 90k ride. The LX really isn't either but it's alot closer than the LC with the interior upgrades and the AHC.
People buying the LC are just buying the name
