Just out of curiosity, can you post a picture of your actual payload sticker on your new PowerBoost?

I would love to see what it really truely is just for the heck of it!

Will your back/neck hurt as much, nope, but will your heart be racing because the truck drives like it has a mind of it's own, absolutely. The air suspension is great for asphalt roads (not sure on concrete) but get more into washboard stuff and the softer suspensions end up pogo-ing and throw the truck around. It's in the shocks that makes the biggest difference and it's only the really advanced designs you find in the Raptor and TRX where the bumps can be absorbed but the truck not thrown around.

The roads are so varied there's just not a one size fits all suspension setup, then throw in how different people want the vehicle to feel and the best the manufacturers can do is throw very basic setups out there.

Only real issue I've ever had with expansion joints is sliding across them after falling off my crotch rockets. Like getting hit with a bat when they are uneven.

I get it , I only suggested the test drive because my old Rebel with the air ride definitely road better than my new one ( not that the new one is bad ) . Anyway the 2022 Tundra with the coil springs should ride MUCH better than the 2021 and older Tundras .

I wanted a faster vehicle so I also bought a Chevy SS... because 4 door sedans with big V8’s are hilarious.
Just looked at my trusty old 2007, no leaks evident anywhere. The only oil I could find was residue around the oil fill spout and cap, and that is 100% operator error.

Give Ford 2 years, they'll crank it up to 485 HP and 650 lb ft. They just have to have the biggest numbers, even if just barely.

That's just getting crazy, a lot like the magical 1000 lb ft for diesels. Just a ridiculous number that has no bearing on 99% of driving.

As correct as you are about the amendment, I don't believe forums are held to such open standards. Just like political talk is banned accordingly.

I am sure it’s possible, having no idea what the Ford F-150 transmission bell housing has room for, nor how much flexibility there is in the frame cross members. If Ford wanted to match or exceed those numbers from Toyota (assuming they are even remotely accurate), it will take a significantly more powerful electric motor than what they are currently using. Currently the F-150 PowerBoost electric motor makes a nominal 30hp and 70lb-ft, so we’re talking about more than doubling the output and with electric motors that’s not as easy as just turning up something. Either more voltage on the same size unit made to take the higher voltage, or a physically larger motor of the same voltage. Neither solution would be easy or cheap unless the frame and transmission architecture allow quite a bit of room to grow.

The other option is turning up the boost, but that presents issues too.

This does not apply on private platforms. Private platforms can make their rules or standards anything they want and the only “right” that we/you have is the right to accept or decline the use using those rules.

And if my Aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle.
The issue is not mpg, it never was. The issue is will the pint size ICU live for 200 to 300 thousand miles of work.
    THAT is the issue.
Anyone buying a truck based on MPG needs to re think they're sanity in this type of purchase.
That kind of logic would make anyone who came out with an inline 4 get all the truck sales in the nation.

Ford will have to do a redesign and use a bigger motor to increase power and actually make it usable for a full size truck. They're already using the highest voltage(450v) that I know of meaning their motor is pretty small. Prius hybrid is around 200v, rav4 prime is about 350, and teslas max out at 375. These other unreleased ev's may be running more but Ford is at the top of my knowledge.

Knowing them they will probably add more boost too. Unreliable trucks with a dedicated fan base keeps them in profits.

I disagree, MPG is the issue, but its not coming from consumers. Considering over 50% of F150's sold are V8's its not the customer causing the change, but CAFE standards forcing automakers to change.

Agreed. I think many of us on here think the perfect solution to a thirsty truck with lots of power is a larger fuel tank.

EPA CAFE standards don’t care what consumers actually want though.

It rides like a truck, it is definitely the stiffest of the half tons. I personally prefer the stiffer ride, to me it inspires confidence in the road as it gives a very good feel of the road. All I want from the next gen is to stay connected to the road - don't sacrifice that to ride softer.

Agreed. Newer GM trucks(aside from magnetic stuff, which is super nice) ride like a boat. Disconnected, floaty...Preference I guess, not my cup of tea.

I will agree CAFE standards are making a major push for increased mpg but to say the customers aren't causing the change isn't 100% true. If it was the 3.0 duramax wouldn't be selling as fast as they can build them.
A full sized truck getting upper 20's on the interstate back and forth to work that will still pull their ski boat or travel trailer with no issue on the weekend is what a big section of the truck market wants.
I'd say a big reason the v8 is still the biggest seller is 1) fleet sales and 2) the eco boost gets the same fuel mileage as the v8.

I know I'm driving a full size truck, but mpgs do matter to me as a consumer. I won't go buy a new truck to get better gas mileage, but when it comes time to buy a new truck in a couple years and one truck gets 15 mpgs and the other close to 30, that will make a difference in my decision. That will save me anywhere from $100-200 a month. I think it matters to a lot of people too. On other forums, as soon as a Tundra is mentioned, people bash the gas mileage, maybe because it is the only thing to complain about, but people are aware of the mpgs.

Hey man, I’m Asian and also really short, while I didn’t take offense to your comment it doesn’t mean I shouldn’t have. I’ve grown immune to race related insults as they’ve been thrown at me my whole life. Hell, when I was around 10 and going home I got yelled at by homeless Vietnam vets to go back to my own country. I deal with it. But while I can take a joke, there are many others that can’t.

If I wasn’t such a pessimist I might even have portrayed your comment as a complement. There are many out there that go for Asian women for the sole purpose that they’re small.

Anyways, with today’s cancel culture you really need to watch it. I say this because for the last several years I sit at home alone after work because I’ve offended too many people. And to all that people that stood up to his asinine comment, I also appreciate you.

Back on topic - the 2022 is ugly and I wouldn’t fuck it with YOUR dick
