I'm happy there's going to be a full size on the market with Toyota reliability, but all the benefits of the EcoBoost platform Ford's had for years.

Oh and I think the truck looks great... raptor lights and all. Now let's see how the lower trim packages look...

I wonder why all HD trucks don’t have them then. It’s a $50 option to have them on top of the cab. All dually trucks do, but not the single rear wheel ones

I wonder this too. On the Ram 2500 it's a $99 option but that's so cheap and they make the truck look so much better.... Not sure why anyone would spec one without the cab lights.

yea that makes sense. guess the only other thing they could have done was full on cab lights, or fake hood scoop again with the lights in it but then people would complain its a TRX rip off

Ram 2500 are 79.9” wide just like the tundras, so the cab lights are optional. I personally only like the look of cab lights on drw truck.

Uh, the designers are Japanese... So maybe ricers? Idk.

Correct, not thrilling. That's NEVER been Toyota's thing. Look at their "Sports car" the Toyota 86. Underpowered by all accounts. Look at anything in their line, and what are the complaints? 4Runner, underpowered. Taco, underpowered. "TRD" sedans, underpowered. I'm seeing a theme here that has always been with Toyota. Toyota equals reliability. Performance is only attained aftermarket, or through different manufacturers.

One thing that will be interesting personally to me is to see how the aftermarket (and how quickly) adapts their products to the new look.

Because a lot of us (me included) think they look silly and don’t want them on our trucks. They’re required for over 80” which is why duallys have them, the SRW heavy duty trucks aren’t over 80”.

I think the ones on the new tundra photos are just for looks. They’re not on top which is where they’re required to be for legalities if the truck is over 80”. I expect they’re just for bling on that model.

I think the new Tundra looks fine but I wish they’d have shown a basic SR5 so we could have a better idea. I’m not interested in the boy racer raptor type models. I want to know the specs and capacities of the conventional models, I don’t care about bling. What’s on offer to replace my double can SR5 4x4, how much will it haul, pull, & what fuel mileage will it get?

But it’ll last forever and never have maintenance issues. Which is why you buy a Toyota. If you want fun and thrilling you shouldn’t be buying a 4 door family car anyway. Look at a poopra.

My guess is the answer to your questions will vaguely be: 2000+lbs payload, 12,000+lbs towing, and probably run around unloaded on the highway getting 22-23MPG for the non hybrid (if you can stay out of boost).

So a nice upgrade in payload, more towing than you should probably do with a 1/2 ton, and class competitive fuel mileage.

Don’t be alarmed if they recommend 91 octane fuel for max power, or if you’re towing or hauling heavy loads. Particularly in warm or hot ambient temperatures.

I'm less concerned with the reliability than the fact that there might be Tundra peeps out there that see us and join after reading that article.

Completely agree about your personal taste. Also, while these may indeed be for show, the 2nd gen Raptor is like ~86" wide so they managed to get the location of those lights through the necessary approvals, so perhaps the same will be said for this TRD pro. I will say the truck in the leaked pictures doesn't appear to have a significantly wider stance than a base model would, as opposed to the Raptor/F150 so who knows.

Guarantee if Toyota sold a Tundra for markets in Africa the truck would be seeing close to that weight more often that you might think.

Really hope the best for their 5.6 V8 ... was reading about the 'tick' and eventual full replacement = YIKES ! Hope they get the root problem sorted out. Agree they could have (still could correct) went with original styling instead of the fail ford leads ::facepalm::

Yeah Nissan has lost their way. Kind of like BMW after about 2007.

Remember when Nissan made bad ass race cars like the Calsonic endurance racers, Paris-Dakar race “trucks”, had cool sports cars like the 300ZX that were legit bargain super cars?

Now look at them. It’s sad.

That salesman should be fired because that was saying a lot of words to in the end say nothing of use. All those numbers he quotes and not one hint of payload....salesman probably doesn't even know what that is...lol. And 12,500 towing is not a world beater its not even a Ford beater....

Because most of the single wheels are also 79.1 to 79.5 inches wide.... The F250 is 80'. The Ram 2500 and Silverado 2500 are under 80'wide

How can that be? Everyone knows if you go over payload the truck will break in half!!!!!......The Hilux has about 3K payload so a world spec tundra would at least be double that....over here the Hilux little brother tacoma gets barley 1000

I think the truck looks awesome and I have faith in Toyota to bring their benchmark reliability right along with this ttv6. I still hope for a v8 option, but I’m not holding my breath. Here in about 6 more years when I give my 16 to my son for his first truck I’ll gladly snatch up a 4th gen.
