Was watching a video of Deboss garage on YouTube and he had a 5.0 in a mustang that was missing bolt holes in the valve cover. He looked it up and a couple years like 2015-17 i think they had a recall on it...the fix was to drill holes where there should have been some....like how do you mess that up.

And didn't the triton motors the spark plugs would fly out of them and rip all the threads out? I mean if you cant get that right then wtf lol.

I had a 2017 and 2019 Tundra. Both good. Not great.

    21 f150 great so far.

Exactly why many of us don’t re-up our investment every few years.

I went through all this when I left the tundra for a loaded Ram sport in 2013, lol. I have been on tundra boards since the beginning, got my 2000 tundra in late 1999 and joined tundra solutions in 2000, Im still a member there, also tundra talk.

anyways, I liked the Ram , everyone told me it would fall apart every 10 miles, it didn't. They said the trans would fall out every 15 miles, it didnt, in fact it was much better than the one in my tundra, (one the first ZF 8 from Germany).

anyway, as time went along most guys appreciated the info and Toyota guy opinion on a different truck and as I knew a ton of dudes for years, I wasn't just going to leave the Toyota board.

That said, maybe in 2016 when it was new truck time, the inner Toyota guy felt I got lucky once, didnt want to try for 2, lol, plus I needed another tundra fix.

so, stick around and provide honest feedback about that 2021 powerboost, I for one would like the feedback, just try and keep the fanboy shit out of it, if it craps out or has a problem or something that is a dislike, let us know as Im interested in one.

You have to get a new truck every few years? What tax purpose does it serve? I own my own business, use my truck for it, and I get only get to claim mileage deductions.

you don't have to, I own my own business as well. It just another tool in the belt for tax management. there are other tools in teh belt if need be, but if your in a good spot, a new truck can be nice way to do it.

and you can take more than mileage if the purchase is over a certain weight (our fullsize are).

I've got a business opportunity I'm considering that would require a truck for travel and hauling equipment so I've looked into this. It's a pretty good deal if done right and I would definitely do the same as you upgrading every couple years

ya you can do a variety of things depending on the circumstances, (depreciate the entire thing the first year, or over a few years, mileage, etc etc.).

I would advise consulting with a quality CPA firm to help as it depends on how you're structured as well.

but yes, there are times where buying a truck is advantageous, and nice....

some of the perks for taking all the stress, strain and risk of signing the front of the check rather than the back...it isn't easy street like many believe.

I have 500k+ km's in various Ford's, some brand new, some with 200k+ km's on them. I won't ever put my money into a Ford gas engine - only Ford I would ever consider is a 6.7 PSD and even then I'd be crossing my fingers it doesn't cost me big time in repairs. So any bashing you see from me (and many others as they use Ford's similarly to me at our workplaces) comes completely from first-hand experience. I'd put them at 50-50 for not having annoying issues, and 80-20 for not leaving you without a vehicle for extended time while in the shop. Biggest issue they've almost all had at least once in my experience was something electrical - so my confidence in their electric systems whether it's the hybrid unit or Lightning electric pickup is absolutely ZERO. It'll take 10 years of very few issues for me to consider one.

And BTW go get your steering rack changed if you haven't already, if it's not on the recall list yet I bet it will be eventually.

Same here. Exactly why we got a basic bare bones Tundra. Hoping it lasts long enough to pass it on to my kids.

I wanted a faster vehicle so I also bought a Chevy SS... because 4 door sedans with big V8’s are hilarious.
Well try it some time! I've had my 2007 since 2007, first vehicle I have daily driven that I have kept that long.

First hand knowledge is hard to argue with. 20+ years ago I Worked with a newer f550 and f350 super duties. I also had a f450 and f150 before that. Each one had electric issues. Oil pan rusted out ! Yes that correct, one of the most important items, the life blood of the 550….Oil pan rusted thru.
These are my experiences and I left Ford a long time ago. Had many Chevy and cab over Mitsubishi work trucks plus Land cruisers with high miles since and not one real major issue. Chevy transmission after 145k and that wasn’t from towing with that 2014 ltz.

Everyone is entitled to the Product they want to Be a fan of… yet Fords are hit or miss and that’s a fact. Take it or leave it.

Next time I get asked Why i don’t want a Ford, I’ll Just explain…. “ I’m not on side of road, not going to work with a puddle of oil under the truck to not make the payment on the truck that gave a electric problem last month.
Tundra for me , 6cyl twin turbo is fine… And Reliable I’m sure ….thanks

Just read the last few pages of this because I'm bored.

@TundraLaw congrats on your new Ford. I'm sure its a great truck. But I have to tell you, you sound like you're trying really hard to justify your decision to swap over. Its your money and your decision and you don't need to defend your position so hard.
You're on a Tundra forum wondering why Tundra guys aren't all gaga over a Ford? And then get snippy when someone points out the verifiable facts that Toyotas are far more reliable than Fords across the board. This is not our opinion, the data shows it.
Apples to Apples, on paper, the '21 F150 is a better truck than the current Gen Tundra. No one is debating that. The new Gen Tundra isn't even out yet, and no one really knows what its going to bring to the fight, and yet you're already defending your new truck against it. I mean, how can you say "Even the new Tundra hood looks like a 21 f150 knock off" when no one has even seen it yet?

No one on here has jack shit to do with the design, engineering or marketing of any of these trucks, so it doesn't make sense to take it personally if someone doesn't like what you like, and it sure doesn't make sense to take credit for something you had zero input on when all you did was buy it.

Either way, brand wars have been going on forever, and unless you're on the design team of a particular vehicle there is no reason to get upset if someone thinks their gizmo is better than your gizmo. If you do it usually just proves the marketing department has done their job and you are emotionally invested in a product and will keep coming back for more and keep forking over your dollars.

I was talking to my local dealer and I'm not sure if he slipped up but he called me and said a Tacoma was in stock but for MSRP. I told him no thank you and said I might wait for the 2022 Tundra v6 twin turbo.

Then he said ya, the V-6 Twin Turbo Hybrid is coming soon. Interested to see what the capabilities will be.

I just want a Crewmax 6.5’ bed, 6 or 8 cylinder with better mpg than this gen offers.

I want a Family Truck, cap camper that I can also tow a larger travel camper if I want.

Oh and since reliable transportation is a must.. I’ll daily my 07 Tundra with 4.7- it’s a smidge reliable ;)

Read this entire thread. 80% are justifying owning the current Tundra. I’m also one of those 80 percenters. 2022 tundra looks to be the Toyota version of an F150. This is obviously why so many are putting down Ford’s.

I also felt the less then 20 minutes since reset showing the mpg was a little disingenuous. I've been following Tim from Pickuptruck plus SUV. Com who's shown very impressive hypermileage in his powerboost however driven normally was getting about the same as the 2.7 Ecoboost.

140k on my 2015 Lariat. Fantastic truck. Glad I didn’t buy a Tractor Toyota. I hope Toyota can catch up in ‘22 so I actually have a hard decision in ‘23.

My 2014 XLT Ecoboost was problem free for the 6 years and 45k I had it for. Had a couple of electronic hickups and was starting to notice a bump in the transmission while towing on occasion. Went to Tundra for its reliability and less is more approach which was appealing to me. Very interested in seeing how the Powerboost pans out and the next gen Tundra.

Interior is based on price point on both brands

You seem to think there's a huge difference in fuel economy, I've found it about equal, haven't found more than $25 more a month difference at worst.

    Features such as?

Front end is a personal preference,

Still waiting for the things the current gen Tundra can't do, others can, that you need it to?
