Exactly, everybody just snickers and walks away giggling. So much for environmentally friendly.... what a crock.

It is recycled, just not on a massive scale YET since there are not a lot of EV batteries lying around. There aren’t many EV cars on the road, and the batteries last a LONG time.

But that’s just it, like in most every business, once it becomes profitable, the market will expand. This is the same with charging stations.

Just like how there weren’t many gas stations / mechanics / parts stores when gas vehicles came out, and there was still the long established industry based on horses. As EV’s gain in market, so will their infrastructure and industry.

Look at how fast EV and battery technology is advancing, it’s going to only continue as the economy of scale makes it cheaper and easier. It’s simple economics.

That 7.3L has all the hallmarks of a dirt simple impossible to kill work truck motor. I think it’s going to be a good engine.

Forged rotating assembly, stock pistons are designed for boost, cam in block, port fuel injection, just simple proven stuff.

Ford designed it for fleet buyers and consumers who need plenty of torque but don’t want to pay for a diesel or deal with diesel maintenance.

The guy responsible for most of the design just retired and now runs a performance shop and his first project is based on the 7.3. Looks like he left a lot on the table for him to now go after in the aftermarket. Stock 7.3 long blocks are hitting 1500hp on the stock bottom end already with no issues.

And yet Ford still messed it up. Currently you have to carry spare plug wires for when they go bad. Then they'll fix that and mess up something else. Their track record of messing up good things means I'd stay away

I don’t think they can even crack the code to do an aftermarket tune. Doesn’t seem to be much aftermarket support to do anything with the GM 6.6 gasser. :(

I can’t imagine it’s any tougher than the new LTx series of direct injection cam in block V8’s that have tuning available.

GM screwed the pooch on that engine though. For starters there should have been two versions:

Variant 1 should be a fleet version that is the one they’re selling now with basic bitch power numbers and the 6L90E. This is for work trucks usually driven by people who don’t own the truck.

Variant 2 should be turned up to make about 440-450hp and at least 500lb-ft put through the new 10 speed auto. This is the motor for 3/4 ton guys who want a nice rig without diesel ass pain.

Not offering the 6.6L gas with the 10 speed is a big mistake, the other big mistake is not offering it in the 1/2 ton (with more power than the 6.2L).

I really can’t complain about the 400hp and 464lb/ft of torque but we would all like a little more power. :) I’m hearing about issues with the 10 speeds, that old school 6 speed is part of a long family tree of reliable transmissions. It is very much a Tundra like format of not the most advanced but is reliable and strong, will really haul ass if you get on it!

Ford has a long history of F^*&((* up dating back into the 60s. They wouldn't be FORD if it wasn't true.
    Found On Road Dead, FORD...
I remember way back when my sons who are now married, were very little in the back seat of our 1970 Ford Bronco.
We were driving back from Tahoe, over the Carquinez Bridge when BAM the engine made a huge bang.
The Bronco came to a stop just off the bridge to the side of the road. It was about 7:00 pm and my wife was worried.
Then a CHP out of nowhere shows up to give me a hand. We checked the engine and found a con rod had pushed it's way right through the block.
We got back to home, I rebuilt an engine for it and sold it that week.
Never ever will a FORD grace itself in my possession again.

I bought the 6.6 because it has the tried and true 6 speed tranny. It’ll definitely get up and go. I would’ve preferred they kept the 4.10 rear end in it that the 6.0 vortec had, but no complaints so far from me

If I ever get a 5th wheel I might consider regearing. Ford has the option of up to a 4.30, too bad GM only has one ratio per engine.

Not sure why anyone would be disappointed that the Tundra wasn’t part of that snooze-fest of an event. Tundra will get its own… like it deserves.

To be fair there really wasn’t any vehicle from that era that was any good . We had a Honda from that time that was in the shop more than on the road . I can understand your you saying you’ll never have another Ford as I’ve said the same about Honda .

Ha. Was wondering if anybody would notice. I swapped in '18 LED headlights and grille back in '18. The LEDs are the single most fantastic upgrade I have ever done. And yes, I ordered it.

I bought an Acura (Honda) RSX Type S new back in 2002. My wife and I ran it 170k with no mechanical repairs other than regular maintenance. One warranty issue on the leather, other than that it was a champ!!!
